Kingsbane is a mystery to me, I have never seen a card have such a high and consistant playrate despite an abyssmal winrate. Checking recent times and higher levels, the card is not tier 3 in wild either, but at least not close to being demoted to trash-tier, as it is in standard.
I guess its kinda like why i love playing my druid quest. You lose a lot, but that one win you get makes up for the 2 fast losses.
Maybe playing it makes people think about the good old days when they were playing mill rogue and had a lot of fun. Stuff like that makes people ignore low winrates and sometimes people just feel they win more then they do in reality.
It is just so much fun, I gott Kingsbane from a pack yesterday and have been loving it a lot. I think it is popular, in a sense because it is fun.
Rhok'delar, how fun is this card? I'm sitting on ~8k dust and have mostly everything else from KnC that I want except for this one. Im playing Big Hunter at the moment, would be nice to have another Hunter variant to play with.
I also have a Rin, the First Disciple so I was thinking of crafting just deathknight and second voidlord to be able to make versions of both decks (cube and control lock). But I'm also missing a second Twisting Nether, Dirty Rat and Gnomeferatux2--the usefulness of this card always seemed suspect to me.
Anyway, is it worth spending all that dust in order to play with the currently unused cards sitting in my collection? Alternatively, was thinking of saving dust for next rotation, or crafting cards for one of my main classes--I also have about 15k dust in crap epics and legendaries I'm saving for a rainy day, but I try not to dip into those too often.
Valeera the Hollow--I love rogue, this seems like such a fun card, and it's one of the few class cards I'm missing (also with Evasion I could try mill)
look that you have one tier 1 deck, then just craft what you enjoy. umbra is not necessary for cubelock.
dirty rat and gnomeferatu try to aim for combo decks such as razakus, these are also techs and not always necessary (there are decks without them). faceless and mountain giant are classic and will never rotate out, especially mountain giant always has a place in hand-lock (good craft for the future of you like this archetype). voidlord and gul'dan are very good investments (will see a lot of play for another year).
second twisting neither is not necessary often as you can play with hellfire and defile, but it is a good card and classic (investment for the future). warlock is a great class right now and probably after rotation still good, you can also use gul'dan for zoo.
valanyr is not necessary is combined most of the time with a charge minion you keep in your hand such as leeroy. that is why it is used mainly in aggro paladin and not murloc paladin, but after the nerfs murloc pala should be the much better deck.
lich king is a very good card and can replace bonemare now in your deck ( I think currently a very good craft), a neutral and stay for another year. the cards it can give you can win you the game, the stats are decent.
valeera is not needed for many rogue decks, it is played in kingsbane rogue and can be played in miracle though. hydra is staple especially after the creeper nerf.
big mage is still not a tier 1 deck, except if you play tournements maybe. can see future support and will stay for a year, if you really really like it, why not go for it.
open the wayagate was never tier 1, it wins against certain archetypes such as control but loses against almost all aggro. again if you really like it go ahead, but you can play this type of deck also without the legendary. but most decks do include it.
grand archivist, we still don't know where spiteful decks are placed. currently I don't see a lot of them. people prefer in priest currently dragon combo priest instead for example and spiteful priest is probably the strongest of the spiteful deck. grand archivist is not necessary in spiteful decks, but needed for druid spiteful to cast your UI for card draw. in spiteful zoo-lock it is not played.
This is a bit nitpicky, but I disagree with Ixlid, Fungal Lord being in trash tier. In standard he's unimpressive, but still has a higher winrate than Illidan Stormrage, which is in Tier 4.
In Wild, he has a 58.5% deck winrate, and is being used in a Tier 1 deck according to TempoStorm. (Malygos Druid)
I suspect he only got better with the nerfs to aggro.
Rhok'delar, how fun is this card? I'm sitting on ~8k dust and have mostly everything else from KnC that I want except for this one. Im playing Big Hunter at the moment, would be nice to have another Hunter variant to play with.
Rhok'delar is extremely fun. That is the weapon i got fro the expansion start, I immediately made a spell hunter deck and while the win rate hovers around 50% its not really good for climbing but it's by far the most fun deck i've played this expansion. I also packed a Lynessa and was thinking of making quest/buff pally for the meme but it's a lot of dust for a deck that will never gain a lot of traction
so i really want Rag (I have the dust to craft 1 legendary since ive just dusted the nerfed patches) and I want Sylvanas and Justicar since I'm most likely going to make a control warrior when the meta slows down.
Rag is my favorite WoW character, but if crafting one of the others is smarter, ill do that of course ;)
You should keep the dust from patches until they announce what cards going to HOF, that way you can craft them for free (unless you think you will have enough dust by the time of the announcement).
Justicar Trueheart is almost mandatory in wild control warrior decks. Just a staple card all around except in Woecleaver warrior due to recruit anti-synergy with battlecry.
Sylvanas Windrunner great for cube synergy and sees play in decks with a n'zoth or cube win condition. So you get more bang for your back there.
Ragnaros the Firelord sees play in plenty if midrange decks and grinder mage due to synergy with frost lich jaina. There are not a lot of competitive midrange decks but there are a few that pack a punch.
Edit: All are good but you should decide your craft based on what you foresee yourself playing the most. ^^

Ragnaros has elemental synergy and can be recruited by Silver Vanguard, so he's not just a great filler anymore.
Sylvanas isn't as good as she used to be, in my opinion. Too many decks either can flood the board with minions or can win without having minions stick to the board. Still good with N'Zoth.
Justicar is used in control warrior, but in very few other decks. She saw some use in priest, but with Raza being nerfed and there being a lot of strong priest cards I'm not sure she would still make the cut. Also her counter-synergy with Death Knights would make it harder to find a spot for her.

I will check a bit, and the list will have major shakeups now, and even more so next rotation.

Yup, I got this in my set of 50 packs (Kingsbane was my free class legendary) and have a lot of fun with Rhok'delar. Who knows maybe the next expansion will make this more viable on the ladder but it's a super fun deck to play. Always look forward to hunter related daily quests because of it.
This thread is to be a home for legendary crafting advice. If you are not sure which legendary you should craft next, this is the place to ask! We only recommend disenchanting golden versions of legenary cards until you know you will not buy more packs from the corresponding set. Keeping even the worst legendaries will increase your chance of getting a good one next time due to the no-duplicate rule. We will try our best to stay on top of the meta-game with updates, and hope this thread can be a valuable resource for new and veteran players alike to make better decisions with your dust!
Disclaimer: A tier list like this can never please everyone; the meta game is dynamic. If you think a card is in the wrong tier, please explain and provide links to deck lists or other data to support your claim.
Please note that some of the cards may not yet be craftable, and are received through adventures or rewards.

If you are a new player looking for a quick way to improve your collection, here is a list of powerful neutral commons, rares and epics which fit in many decks:
I've seen quest mages running Babbling Book. Shimmering Tempest is probably a better replacement though, since it doesn't require you to play an elemental the turn before to get the spell.
EDIT: Shimmering Tempest not Shimmering Elemental.
So I have 5,300 dust to play around with at the moment (thank you nerfs and mammoth pack) on top of the dust I already had saved for the upcoming rotation (so no worries there. Can spend the 5,300 now). I play all formats so trying to decide the best use of the new dust.
For Wild:
Raza (just DE'd) - Think I'll hold and see how things shake out.
Mal'Ganis - Have everything else needed for Wild Cubelock and seems like he will always be relevant
Awaken the Makers - strong quest and I have all the other priest staples
For Std:
Hunter or Warrior DK? have all the others... leaning Hunter of the two.
Aluneth for Mage decks - Seems like it would always be relevant and I have all the mage epics etc (not quest but it's not used much now)
Kelseth - Always strong effect but will he fit in aggro decks as much now? Too early to tell but still not a bad craft I would think.
Rin for control warlock? Seems strong but not needed? (note i have oakheart and other staples for this type of deck)
Sonya - another solid legendary
2x vilespine slayer - Just a strong card I missed on.
2x Twilight Acolyte - only card I'm missing from current dragon priest lists. How needed are they?
2x Call to Arms and 2x Unidentified Maul (crazy since I opened 100 KaC packs) for Paladin decks (noting I am missing Valanyr and many murloc epics)
2nd Faldori Strider - love playing mill rogue but not exactly competitive and this has been seeing less play anyway?
2nd unstable evolution - fun card but leaning no even though i have all the other evolve shaman stuff
My current inclination is definitely Aluneth and Mal'Ganis as it feels like they will always be relevant even as meta shifts... which leaves me 2,100 dust... so load up on the epics? 2x call to arms, vilespine, and twilight? Little over budget but I'm okay with that... Or do I just grab another solid legendary (likely Rexar or Kelseth)

I would definitely craft vilespine, since its a must have in every rogue deck. I crafted them too bc i never got them from packs.

Rhok'delar, how fun is this card? I'm sitting on ~8k dust and have mostly everything else from KnC that I want except for this one. Im playing Big Hunter at the moment, would be nice to have another Hunter variant to play with.
Also considering The Last Kaleidosaur and Lynessa Sunsorrow. Lynessa seems like it could fit in a lot of Paladin decks as "fun" card.
This is a bit nitpicky, but I disagree with Ixlid, Fungal Lord being in trash tier. In standard he's unimpressive, but still has a higher winrate than Illidan Stormrage, which is in Tier 4.

so i really want Rag (I have the dust to craft 1 legendary since ive just dusted the nerfed patches) and I want Sylvanas and Justicar since I'm most likely going to make a control warrior when the meta slows down.
Rag is my favorite WoW character, but if crafting one of the others is smarter, ill do that of course ;)
Sylvanas Windrunner is better than Rag in CW tho
One day this game will stop existing. I can't wait.
You should keep the dust from patches until they announce what cards going to HOF, that way you can craft them for free (unless you think you will have enough dust by the time of the announcement).
Justicar and Sylvanas are staples for old style Control Warrior.
Sylvanas fits any Control deck, in addition to any N'Zoth, the Corruptor deck.
Ragnaros is a big threat, which however does not synergise very well in Control decks. More like a Midrange card, although versatile as a deck filler.
Rag in any big deck.
Barnes into rag is just awesome.
Sylvanas would be my second choice I guess. Works also great with barnes, shadowflame, N'Zoth, etc.

If you're going to play control warrior justicar is the card, no discussion.
I will crush you!
Ragnaros has elemental synergy and can be recruited by Silver Vanguard, so he's not just a great filler anymore.

Justicar is used in control warrior, but in very few other decks. She saw some use in priest, but with Raza being nerfed and there being a lot of strong priest cards I'm not sure she would still make the cut. Also her counter-synergy with Death Knights would make it harder to find a spot for her.

Was it necessary to quote the whole guide just to ask for a Babbling Book?
Inb4 as the user above me said - you can replace it with Shimmering Tempest.
