I would not play The Darkness at all but only use it with cards that summon it from the hand without triggering its battle cry (which sucks!). For example, use the shaman card Eurika! to summon The Darkness from hand, The Boomship, you use Cruel Dinomancer or Dr. Morrigan to hopefully pull The Darkness out. Enough said!

If there were a way to play 2xThe Darkness from hand, opponent would have 6 candles in deck, the first 3 of which would activate both.

Posted Oct 28, 2018 (Boomsday)You can copy it with Simulacrum twice, reduce costs of the copies twice with Leyline Manipulator and play it 3x in one turn with Time Warp and Research Project.
You need to be a bit lucky to copy The Darkness and not Leyline Manipulator but even if you only manage to reduce the cost once, you can play 2x The Darkness into Research Project into Time Warp.
Or, as mentioned before, play it as a rogue after Valeera or as a Druid with Flobbidinous Floop and/or Ixlid, Fungal Lord.
