Why immune and not stealth ? That bugs me.
Because you could deal damage in that case?
yeah sure, it probably can deal damage, but immune like Ice Block doesn't really fit the flavor of rogue in my mind.
It's 1 mana cheaper than Ice Block, it can activate earlier than Ice Block, it has it's benefits so I don't really agree it's "immune" over "stealth"
If you think mechanic strength comes above class flavors, we have different opinions. :)
In WoW, Evasion is a Rogue ability that makes them dodge melee abilities without actually stealthing the player. Rogues actually have quite a few abilities that reduce or negate damage without stealthing them. It's just that in HS, stealth is a much more common keyword in the Rogue card pool than immune is. Consider it the "nimble acrobat" flavor of rogue rather than "stealthy assassin". The card art is the most misleading part.
class flavors are what is ruining this fucking game,
balance > all other stupid superficality.
giving specific classes special quirks makes some classes like warlock always going to dominate no matter what meta because of their identity being good draws and some classes like priest always going to be some janky high roll deck because their whole identity is high roll or die, and paladin's identity is being fucking bad unless some broken combo is discovered. and mage's identity is being annoying
wow finally gave rogue secrets, like the only class that really should thematically have secrets (other than hunter)
I'm thinking this isn't really Ice Block.
1. It activates after taking any damage, so can be procced at 30 HP
2. You become immune after taking the damage, so you could die before the secret takes effect.
In my opinion its not worse then iceblock but just harder to use, cuz you can't just throw it whenever the fuck u want but on a given moment, so to give an example u start the game let ur enemy flood the board, then let say when ur opponent has a lot on the board u throw this in pretty much blocking his turn. On your next turn u play a vanish + doomsayer denying another turn. except for that it could be sort of used as iceblock as well but then u have to know how much damage your opponent can deal.
Control Rogue?
"I hope it's not Ice Block!"
-Brian Kibler on which Mage secret the unrevealed Rogue secret would take after
To be fair though it's not nearly as obnoxious as Ice Block
No it does not
Not more Iceblocks. :(
I think miracle rogue is coming back to tier 1 :P
Awful.
how?
It does seem strong, but it clogs up your hand before and cant be used unless lethal is suspected. Worse than ice Block but still playable imo
It's worse than Ice Block but not a million times, it's still pretty useful. Even if you're not blocking lethal damage, it's essentially healing if there's a lot of damage represented on board. I.e. If there are three 6/6's you'll heal for 12 that turn.
Also what's your basis for saying it's better than Valeera? Because Valeera guarantees to block all damage? Even then this card is better against non target spells like mind blast or sinister strike. Not to mention the difference in mana cost. Valeera's stealth is primarily to compensate to the turn you waste spending 9 Mana to play her.
I think you're not assessing enough different situations because you're trying to directly compare it to the situations you would use vaguely similar cards. It might be overrated but you're flipping to the other extreme.
This actually synergizes VERY well with the Sudden Betrayal, as this punishes attacks from small minions and hero power pings, while sudden betrayal can be dealt with by using your tiny minion to attack first, leaving the path open to large minions. If your opponent guesses wrong, they could end up wasting a significant attack.
Ex: Your opponent has a Deathwing and a Murloc Tinyfin while you have a secret. If they attack with the tinyfin and it is sudden betrayal, they just lose the murloc and smash you in the face with deathwing; however, if you are playing evasion, the tinyfin connects and they lose 12 damage because you are immune. Conversely, if they attack with deathwing first, betrayal causes it to smash the tinyfin, wasting both attacks that turn. This creates a real choice that the opponent must risk, unlike with paladin, where all damage manipulation secrets favor the small minion attacking first.
Finally, this is REALLY obnoxious against bloodlust bursts.
Perfectly designed card, we can't die, but our opponent can hit us with this big guy he summoned. It also tucks quest mage completely.
He might not have the mana to both ping and pull the combo of in the crucial turn.
