I thought it might be fun to have like a tradition of giving out "The Johnny Award" for the person that makes THE most innovative, Johnny-ish deck from when all cards were revealed until we have them released into the game and we actually get to play with them, so rewarding theorycrafting skills I guess :)
In this thread I thought we could enter our submissions or if you have seen another extremely innovative deck and you wish to nominate him/her for the price, then this would be the perfect place for that as well!
Maybe I will join in, but firstly I would like to nominate Poghy for his hilariously innovative Druid deck revolving around using Fandral Staghelm in combination with Druid of the Saber, buff cards and Faceless Manipulator for a huge late game burst-charge combo!!^^ Soooo much more fun than the old Druid combo and would usually give your opponent a very long time to deal with it before the Faceless Manipulator shows up. So probably not the most competitive of decks, but that's not what the award is about either!
Okay enough chatter, I would love to give my nomination to Poghy for this awesome creation! :D
Please feel free to comment, nominate or give your own submissions in this thread, but only once and update that post if you wish to edit the deck so we don't see the same decks posted over and over again ;)
I would be honored to win this myself and I'm sure many others would as well....if it catches on ofc :P
If this does catch on I'll get a poll up when the expansion is upon us and we'll vote there on who deserves the award the most...atm my money is on Poghy, will we see a contender? I sure hope so! :D
What is Hearthstone to you? A fun and semi-competitive game with wacky effects and crazy RNG outcomes or just a card game you wanna grind as many wins you can get as fast as possible in?

Whoa! Nice list. Do you mind explaining how you'd like it to work? Shadowcaster has a lot of amazing potential. Why Sprint over Gadgetzan Auctioneer (as an example)?

Felt I should clarify that it doesnt have to be a Standard deck, but it must include at least 1 of the new cards, preferably a card/interaction that seems really bad/pointless (like getting a bunch of 1/1 Shadowcasters or finding a good use for stealth+charge).
I will probably post a submission as well, but havent come up with something worthy yet :p

This deck isn't super interesting, but I think I found a use for good use for Darkspeaker (my deck only has 1, but I would put 2 since the deck somewhat focuses on them)

Not bad, PO with Darkspeaker seems good, but if I were to be completely honest I was hoping for something more unexpected/more broken to use the Darkspeaker with/on :P
Nice hehe a Divine Shield deck with Stand Against Darkness was the first card I thought of for this competition as well ;P A bit shame you're only running 1 copy of it though...remember the point is not to make the most competitive deck, but to make a card or interaction that at first glance seems awful, shine as much as possible ;)

I'm very happy to see more contenders joining in, I will try to mostly keep my comments regarding your decks in the deck comment section, but felt it could be relevant to point out that the innovative interaction should involve one of the new cards and the only really innovative inclusion in this deck except maybe Onyxia is Ancestral Healing + Injured Blademaster and those are from the Classic/Basic set :P But not a bad idea, it's definitely not something you see on the ladder alot^^

Well, it's not nearly as innovative as some of the others but I thought I'd post it anyway. It's a Grim Patron deck that uses Spreading Madness to multiply the Patrons. The idea is to apply consistent board pressure from turn one on. Early you have a Zoolock shell that is very good at gaining and holding the board, in the late midgame you move into a flood of Patrons that is hopefully hard to deal with, then if that's not enough you finish up with an endless stream of 6/6 minions from Jaraxxus. Just a never ending flood of minions for your opponent to deal with that hopefully overwhelms their ability to answer.
Nothing to thank for Poghy, I would like to thank you for coming up with such an innovative deck that you inspired me into making this competition!^^
You are of course welcome to post as many innovative decks as you can come up with, but you must choose 1 to add to the poll when expansion is released...only 1 deck will be added to the poll for each contender...the evolve deck looks really good, but Evolve does by no means look like a sub-par card so I would definitely go with the Druid one if I was you! hehe
I always have such hard time deciding on just 1 theme so my submission will probably look really stupid, but I believe it will be a lot of fun to try out and I hope you like it! :D
Yogg-Saron, Hope's End is not a card I would say is looking sub-par, but I went more for the combination of tons of unusual stuff that work well together in a Control Hunter deck that by itself is kinda innovative^^
Added some explanation of card choices in the deck description ;)

With the exception of Arcane Intellect which can only draw random cards or itsefl; and Brann Bronzebeard which can only duplicate random battlecries; every card in the deck has some element of RNG within it, be is discovr, jousting, or just... flat out RNG. Enough random damage flies around that it can actually reliably stop aggro. Then it gets to late and the Yogg Dream.
Side note: I am upset at the lack of spells you can put in pur casino mage now. Losding Portal and Flamecannon is painful.

Excited to see the new Casino Mage decks for sure, looks like a good Standard version...the Wild version should be a bit...wilder I guess, really missing those Unstable Portals, but not a bad entry at all! :)

By no means competitive (probably (certainly)), this deck uses Summoning Stone and cheap burn to create a board toEvolve. Then Bloodlust or (what I have currently) Everyfin is Awesome to burst next turn. If that fails then I'm going to pin my hopes (ba dum ching) on Yogg-Saron.
Hi all :)
To understand what I mean with this you should read the Johnny part of this article, actually I recommend you read the whole thing as it's pretty entertaining, but the Johnny parts are the most relevant for this thread at least.

I wanna join. Here's my take on the infinite value combo grind Rogue. Click it for a guide on how it works.
Whoa! Nice list. Do you mind explaining how you'd like it to work? Shadowcaster has a lot of amazing potential. Why Sprint over Gadgetzan Auctioneer (as an example)?
NA golden heroes: Hunter, and Rogue! Let's try for Paladin next!
Good execution of this combodeck Arazen, glad to see you're in for the run, the new Rogue cards definitely need to be shown some appreciation! :D
Great point by Fyrjefe there, Gadgetzan would be a strong inclusion in this deck for sure! Gang up too probably ;)
Btw if anyone good at making images and stuff wanna make a trophy for this award that would be awesome! :P

This deck isn't super interesting, but I think I found a use for good use for Darkspeaker (my deck only has 1, but I would put 2 since the deck somewhat focuses on them)
The main combo is with Power Overwhelming, Imp Gang Boss, or Darkshire Councilman (also can be used with low stat Taunt minions from Sunfury Protector or Voidwalker)

I do not think there is a more Johnny deck than Casino Mage. It certainly can win; and it wins with style.
The question is: What is the best style of it?
With the exception of Arcane Intellect which can only draw random cards or itsefl; and Brann Bronzebeard which can only duplicate random battlecries; every card in the deck has some element of RNG within it, be is discovr, jousting, or just... flat out RNG. A C'thun Control Priest
Ok so I had an idea for a priest combo deck using one of the worst cards to be released in the expansion: Am'gam Rager.
Ok so this is a little odd so hear me out. The Am'gam Rager is a card so bad why would anyone want to play it, right? Thats the idea behind this deck.
The strategy behind this deck is to play the control game until turn 9 when you toss out Am'Gam along with some other cards.
Then people ignore it because why on earth would you waste removal on a 1/5 minion.
Then on turn 10 you buff it with double Power Word: Shield and Power Word: Tentacles and then Divine Spirit and Inner Fire it for 30 damage exactly to the face. It costs 10 mana and 5 cards. I included lots of card draw to help draw the combo.
Could work, and you would be a super troll.
Hope you like it. I think its kinda cool and unique. Let me know what you think over on the deck page.
