Whispers of the Old Gods is the third Hearthstone card expansion. It was announced on March 11th, 2016 and will be released on April 26th, 2016.
The expansion includes 134 new collectible cards, which can be purchased for real money or gold through a new card pack, or crafted through the use of Arcane Dust.

Cards
- The expansion contains 134 collectible cards.
- New cards will all be available in the store once the expansion launches through a new card pack.
- Packs contain 5 cards and will cost 100 gold, or can be purchased using the same real money pricing structure as other packs.
- All new cards can be crafted using Arcane Dust.
- Opening your first Old Gods pack will give you C'Thun and two Beckoner of Evil for free.
- C'Thun and Beckoner of Evil are not available in card packs normally.

This promotion has expired. You can still complete any quests that remain in your log.
- A special promotional period will be available in which everyone who logs in will get 3 free packs for the expansion.
- One Time Quest: Win 2 Games, get 5 Old Gods packs.
- One Time Quest: Win 7 Games, get 5 Old Gods packs.
Standard Format
- The launch of Whispers of the Old Gods introduces the new Standard format.
- Upon launch, you will no longer be able to use Goblins vs Gnomes or Curse of Naxxramas cards in Standard Format, only Wild.
The Arena
- All the new cards will be available in the arena as soon as the expansion launches.
- The exception is C'Thun and the cards that interact with him. Those are all excluded from the arena.
Pre-Order
- A pre-order will take place which will allow you to purchase 50 packs in advance for $49.99 USD.
- The pre-order contains an exclusive card back.
- Pre-Order starts on March 14th.

Not true. Injured Kvaldir was shown in the same format in the TGT trailer and it is just a rare.

I really want that card back, even though I have basically no money to pre-order. I would have some real incentive to make a shadow priest deck, it just fits really well man, maybe there'd be one similar i can use in a month after release or something.
This set seems boring so far...
so far all the cards do seem unplayable. Cthun might be viable, everything else is a resounding meh

I just want Brode to stop making joke cards and wasting space. Ice Rager and Evil Heckler are not ok. The worshippers of C'Thun are a step in the right direction because they have great stats for their cost (a mini yeti who helps C'Thun? Hell yeah!) but Stand Against Darkness is not acceptable. I am happy with most of the cards released so far.
Lots of things wrong with this mentality. Every card cannot be good, Ice Rager and Evil Heckler are not just wasting space. Evil Heckler is even a decent card in arena, so that is a terrible example of a card that wastes space. Bad cards are ESSENTIAL for good cards, otherwise there would be nothing to make the good cards good, they would just all be the same power level. Ben Brode and every good game designer knows this. Just another example of the masses thinking incorrectly that they know what makes a good game.
I would take reasonable cards with good flavor over a set of cards that are attractive on power level alone. Telling interesting stories with cards like Validated Doomsayer Corrupted Antique Healbot are better than cards like Savage Roar that are primarily just "good" cards. There is obviously room for both, but It's hard for me to just sit idly by when people complain about wastes of space. Without a vanilla 5/2 for 3, it wouldn't be as exciting when they make a 5/3 for 3 or a 5/2 with an ability for 3.
Furthermore, this game has so many elements to it (random minions of certain types/manacosts being summoned, Arena, Tavern Brawl) that all of the cards just add to the richness of the game.
This gives me an idea for an amazing priest deck once more cards come out.

If there would be a possibility to stop your enemy from healing or armor up then control decks are just done. Even with the current cards it is not easy for a control deck to survive the early game. Especially against super aggro decks. The idea to nerf decks that are build around the heropower is just retarded. Then there would be even more rush decks that are used by many noobs with no own gamestyle.
