Heroboticus posted a message on Streamer RoS Preview - Is this a good thing?Posted in: General DiscussionSo hear me out...
Giving a select few streamers early access to the latest expansion is leaving a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth. I feel like they're taking that initial experimentation we all get on release day (finding out cards we hyped are actually trash and vice versa) and giving it to a select few.
I understand this won't be the new meta entirely, but it's on the path towards it - It's the pros and the streamers that tend to build the foundations of the decks we'll all be using in a month or so.
I know I don't have to watch it, and I can't say it's not enjoyable seeing the new cards in play, it just feels like the hearthstone community is being deprived of that day 1 unpredictably and experimentation.
Could be just me though!

CrazyMathematician posted a message on The Worst Hearthstone Cards That Deserve To Be a Disenchanted (Gadgetzan Gazzete)Posted in: Card DiscussionBot Mathematician and Holomancer made a sensational statement! They claim that they could identify the worst cards that deserve to be a disenchanted. Our editor in chief Dora R went to check it out and asked important questions.
Today we have prepared a list of the worst legendary and epic cards that we will lose in April, after the release of the Rise of Shadows. After that, you can make the difficult decision of whether or not to disenchant cards which are rotating into Wild. We will try to help you with this decision. In general, we will lose 71 legendary cards and 85 epic cards. Most of these cards are not competitively viable. And let's face it, many of these cards will never find their place in the game.
If you have a small collection of cards and want to keep the option of playing in Wild, disenchanting bad Legendary and Epic cards might be a good decision. Also, you can consider getting rid of every card if you don't plan to play in Wild at all. But you must always remember that you are then limiting your opportunities in Tavern Brawls and solo Adventures. So, how did you manage to determine the worst cards?
Oh, thanks for asking. Every week we collect statistics on the popularity of cards in the metagame. In total, we have accumulated a huge amount of data. We have defined the average rate of popularity for all legendary and epic cards based on the results of 2 years of availability in Standard.
Do you think that this data is enough?
In order to draw more accurate conclusions, we would like to have the same rate of popularity for Wild, but unfortunately we don’t have the opportunity to explore the Wild format as closely as Standard. The only thing we could do was add information on current popularity in Wild for the last two weeks from HSreplay.com.
We have divided all the cards into 6 different categories, according to their popularity.
Each category received a number of stars. The less stars the category has, the safer the disenchanting. In some cases there are exceptions to this principle...LEGENDARY CARDS

Also, sorting by descending order of totals would make most sense?

Thanks all, i took the gamble and i think it paid off.
7 Epics + 1 GOLDEN Moorabi (A.K.A Free legendary of choice from new expansion) + 3 Goldens = 3785 dust value from the 30 packs :)

Hi there.
I am mostly F2P, but was thinking of putting in some money. I have opened all the packs i usually open for each expansion (approx 145 each) and done my quota for K&C too (started saving gold this week for April 2018 exp)...i stop as soon as i open my last 7th or 8th Legendary so my pity timers for ALL 3 sets individually should be maxed.
Also, I definitely have ALL commons, just a few duplicate Rares missing, and have most of the high priority Legendaries & Epics for each set.
Knowing the above— is this pack worth it assuming the worst that I will only get dust?
- Or is it better to spend money on forthcoming new expansion?
- Is the dust i get from these 30 Mammoth packs comparable to opening 30 less packs from the next expansion and just craft a few epics or 1 legendary from the dust earned from the Mammoth packs?
Recommendations would be much appreciated! :)
Thanks

I got nervous and immediately disenchanted it!

Is this supposed to be allowed already? ( i did this on my iPad). And no, cant open the 3 free packs yet though!

55 Packs Opened
Common: 209 (including 5 Gold)— 94 Duplicates,
Rare: 65 (including 2 Gold)— 18 Duplicates,
Epic: 12 (including 1 Gold)— 1 Duplicate & mostly crap epics. 2 and 3 copies of Dinosize & Tortollon Primalist
Legendary: 4— Open the Waygate, Swamp King Dred, Pyros, The Voraxx
Overall, I am happy as this is an improved outcome compared to my 55 pack opening of MSoG on the first day which gave me 12 Epics (exactly same as this time but had some real good ones) BUT only ONE Legendary (Hobart Grapplehammer!!

Suggestion for using the annual theme (year of Kraken / Mammoth) for some thematic consistency and keeping meta fresh and exciting.
I had hoped the idea of theming each year (Kraken, Mammoth) would lead to some more exciting storytelling between the expansions of the year and maybe even use it to keep the meta fresh/exciting throughout and in-between expansion releases.
To that end, i would like to suggest that Team 5 would consider something like — A set of 6 to 12 cards released over a bi-monthly / monthly schedule with the rank pack (subject to similar basic requirements being fulfilled, like playing/winning at least x games that month etc) with the Annual theme (Mammoth for 2017). Strong Legendaries/Epics (Like N'Zoth, Kazakus) , perhaps which bring out the "Mammoth" theme, tie all expansions together thematically, keep meta dynamic every month?
This may also provide an additional advantage of letting Team 5 course-correct the meta by introducing the right card at the right time if/when needed.
These cards would form their own annual standard collection (Year of the Mammoth Set) and cards from these can be crafted in months following their release (for those who missed winning them in monthly packs).
Cheers!
