Not any more. (Warsong Commander NERFED INTO SHIT BITS!)
I don't know if this is a little off topic, but I'll guess I try.
I spoke to my brother in law regarding the new cards, and according to him they aren't that good. I thought Inspire could become fun though, but I don't know. Now, he's suggestion was to spend my hard earned 1700 gold on buying Naxx wings instead. I only had the one free that gave Maexxna. Should I go for wing #2 and #3 instead?
This will net you far less probability to get usefull cards, then buying TGT packs, imo.
Well, Wing 2 of Naxx gives you: Unstable Ghoul, , Sludge Belcher, Loatheb,
Duplicate and Webspinner. So it's worthwhile anyhow.
Wing 3 "only" gives you: Voidcaller and Death Lordl.
Naxxramas has amazing cards that are used in a lot of decks. If you don't have it, I strongly recomend you to get all the wings asap, because half of those 30 cards are still used in constructed, and that shows you how good they are. The thing is that, if you don't want to buy it with real money, unlocking wings with gold is very slow and expensive (in terms of gold).
if you want legend on ladder asap look for the legend deck you love and plan for it. Just look at how much you need to pay for those wings and get the card you"need" to make those decks.
if you want to play inspire and new card and love to open pack to check you luck, buy those packs. Yup, there are around 10-12 cards are "good" or relevant by competitive standard (just go youtube lifecoach review tgt etc.).
Dont listen to fools, just plan for yourself, there isnt alot of content in this game and most info are enough on the site for you to look at.
I think you should indeed buy naxx wings, at the very least 2, but ideally you want no less then 4. While opening packs is fun, not having some of the cards from naxx is a crippling drawback to a lot of good decks out there. So, unless you want to spend money (buying adventures with real dollars is way more cost-efficient), consider getting them with the gold you have. Although they are costly, they are a sure (and also the only) way to get some of the key cards, while opening packs can get you with a bunch of
chickensh~dust on your hands, if you're unlucky. TGT does have some good cards, but how good is Effigy, if you don't have a Mad Scientist to trigger it? Also, if some cards prove irreplaceable, you can just craft them (something you can't do with adventure cards). While we're at it, i'd also recommend wing 1 of BRM, it's worth it for Emperor Thaurissan alone. That's what i'm doing on my US alt myself, getting 1 brm+4naxx before i spend any gold on packs (i did get some from brawls\quests though, so it's not a completely empty account.. but almost)
There's a lot of hunter players out there...
On the bright side it's 1600 less dust other classes need to worry about as both of the new hunter legends are rather less than exciting.
Acidmaw is really bad because its useless on its own but Dreadscale would be AMAZING in a controling hunter with Lock and Load because of how efficient it is against aggro decks..
well nothing its compareable to the warrior Legend
That's true. You can't compare an early game card that crushes the early game of your opponent to a super slow value card that dumps things on the board.
The two cards are literally so different that you can't actually compare them. It would be like comparing how good Leper Gnome is in an aggressive hunter deck to Shield Slam in a Warrior deck. They just aren't the same thing.
yeah thats exeactly what i was thinking they are not used in the same situations thank you for giving your point of view
I feel sorry for Rogue mains. Meanwhile I'm happy I'll get to craft Varian Wrynn as soon as TGT gets out.. after opening packs, maybe ill get lucky lol
The pack rewarded at the end of your arena run will now be randomized between The Grand Tournament, Goblins vs Gnomes, or Classic
This sucks bigtime, because it makes collecting cards with arena runs much more inefficient. Almost everyone is sick of GvG cards already and an option to choose the pack you want was requested long ago. I am disappointed.
True. I mean, it could be better for new players, but those who have been playing for a while don't really need more GvG or Classic packs. They do this so that if you want to catch up quickly, you have to buy GT packs. It's sad.
Honestly, I'm glad they're trying to profit. I'm patient and grindy enough that I've made my collection with arena runs and dust alone save for Adventure cards. They need a monetary reason to keep going- sometimes I think people (not you specifically but in general) people forget Blizzard isn't doing all of this out of benevolence to make everyone happy- they need to make a profit off of their product.
This is partially true. I know they are aiming to get a profit, but they could get it anyway without diminishing the main significance of Arena, which is getting new cards for your collection. There are players like you and me who don't tend to spend much money in f2p game, they grind to get the cards, items or whatever they need for their collection. But there are also A LOT of other players who don't like grinding or don't have the time to do it, and those are the ones that buy stuff and give them the profit they want. So, I'm not askng for benevolance, I'm just saying that they could give more chances to those who aren't willing to spend much money on a game, by giving the option to choose the pack after you finish one Arena. So, now, I'm not even sure that spending gold in Arena is wiser than spending it in GT packs (in terms of getting cards you want, I'm not talking about the fun of playing Arena).
The truth is, if you're good at arena (i.e. you average 5+ wins a run) you should basically always run the arena. A 7+ win run is pure, absolute profit as you instantly get your gold back + a pack. Even 4-6 wins is "profitable" in terms of prizes versus gold worth (i.e. a pack + 60 gold is still +10 gold on your investment of 150).
I'd only suggest staying away from the arena now if you tend to be someone who hangs closer to the supposed 3-3 average Blizz claims exists. I don't fully believe 3-3 is the average run though, it seems low. I would say my average is probably around 6 wins and while I of course have had worse runs I've also had better.
There are people who still need classic cards, and there are still people who need GvG cards. This system doesn't punish newer players as hard as it previously had (I didn't really start grinding this game until it was mobile so I still have a bunch of blues and purps and even some commons from classic to get, while I have almost a full GvG collection from just prize packs). There's never going to be a perfect system though and if making the prizes wider encourages player population growth I think it's the right call.
EDIT: Apparently, suggesting it's a good thing that the game "Hearthstone" remains profitable and thus remains supported and/or available is unpopular.
Dust is the same for every pack and now new players aren't only going to get TGT cards.
Dude, every time someone wins, someone else has to lose. The average is by definition 3-3.
