The Lich King Boss Guide - The Frozen Throne
The final boss of the Frozen Throne's Icecrown Citadel adventure is The Lich King!
Fight Details
On the Lich King's first turn, he will play a cheat card based on the class you are playing.
- Purge the Weak - No cheap minions for Druid. You best be ramping up!
- The Hunted - Hunters are damaged for every minion in their deck. Ouch!
- The True Lich - Mages only get 1 health? What is this sorcery?
- Fallen Champions - Don't let your minions die, Paladins. The Lich King will get them!
- Shut up, Priest - Mmpphhhhhh!!! Priests are not allowed to speak.
- The Price of Power - Oh sorry Rogues, did you want spells? No spells for you!
- Necrotic Plague - Better have some buffs, Shamans. Your whole deck becomes 1/1s.
- Soul Reaper - Have duplicates in your deck Warlock? Take some damage!
- The True King - Warriors see the Lich King sit at 130 total armor and 30 health.
The fight doesn't have anything really special to it at the start. Keeping control of the board is a requirement at this point. When possible you should deal some damage to to his face, but don't make that a priority.
On turn 7, The Lich King will play Frostmourne. At this point, all minions on his side of the field are killed, 6 Trapped Soul are spawned for him, and he goes immune thanks to his new hero power, Harvest of Souls.
Your goal now is to get rid of the Trapped Souls as soon as possible to break the immunity and get rid of the weapon. It should be noted that Frostmoune also goes immune, preventing charges from being used. After all Trapped Souls are destroyed, The Lich King loses his hero power and gains a new one - Remorseless Winter.
Once he's gone into this next phase, the fight has no new mechanics to it. Simply take him out before you end up dead due to the increasing damage every turn from his hero power.
Watch Out For These Cards
- Anti-Magic Shell - If he has a bunch of minions in plays, expect the worst, expect this to be dropped.
- Frostmourne - Since he and his weapon are immune during this phase, you want to get it over with ASAP.
- Looming Presence - Not much you can do about it but just be warned that he does have it in his deck. If you know you'll just have gotten enough damage for lethal next turn, be prepared to cry when he drops it.
Rewards
There are two rewards from defeating this fight.
- Clear the fight once to receive a Frozen Throne card pack.
- Clear the fight with all nine classes to receive the Prince Arthas hero skin for Paladin.

Any of the spells can be replaced for other spells, just make sure they are spells.
Encase anyone is trying to get Arthas, Mecha'thun works against him and makes most of the classes a joke to win. Thanks Blizzard.
Edit: It also kills through immunity.
what decks do u used? pls deck list xq

All the cards below 3 doesn't matter... They get destroyed. Then you play Mecha'thun, and use Naturalize on it to win
Ez pz
Whoops didn't see this until now, sorry about that. I used Mecha'thun for Warrior, Shaman and Druid. For druid, All cards are below 3 except Mecha'thun, 2 nourish, 2 Branching Paths, Oaken Summons and the 4 mana 3/6 druid taunt guy. Just hard mulligan for Naturalize. For Warrior, I just used a standard control shell and put in 2 Ticking Abominations, Mecha'thun and The Boomship. Basically just drop the boomship and kill the abominations. As for Shaman, that was easily the worst one. I used Keening Banshees along with all the 0 drop cards and Galvanizers to reduce Mecha'thun to be 8 mana. Drop it and then wrath your board with Beakered Lightning
thank you :D
This took 3 tries because on turn 6 the first 2 times the Lich king gave his minions +2 and immunity with a full board. No way to survive long enough to use Mecha'thun.
Druid deck with 90% of the deck being 3 or less cost minions, two Jade Idols, and some spells sounds like an OP AF deck
The fact priests don't get debuffed and only get shut up (which against AI couldn't matter in the slightest) humors me so much, but also I bet it's because the devs thought it would be too hard for priest otherwise? Or maybe they simply wanted a laugh.
I put a few new cards in, worked pretty well for me. ### Custom Warlock4

If anyone still has drouble with Druid. I can recommend this one.
Just be sure that he doesnt have so many minions when he enters frostmourne mode so you can get onto board with your jade idols when you end it.
And be sure to have at least one spreading plague for his souls.
Then you should be good to go, be sure to be as long as possible against one trapped soul so he doesnt get to play his deck and only doing 7 damage per turn which you can easily tank until his deck is empty. Your deck will be at 9+ Jade Idols until then. You just have to save some draw for this stage and be as Armor efficient as possible and you should beat him easily.

After getting my head handed to me trying to play Druid over and over again I switched to my regular Priest deck and won on the first try. I did get lucky and drew both of my Lightspawn minions. A few buffs and many heals later, I had one at 11 attack and the other at 9 attack. Felt good to finally win.
I couldn't win with the suggested Rogue deck, so created one myself, won first try (but I admit I was lucky with timing of card draw). Strategy tips in deck write-up:
emperor faceless turned out to be my winning strategy - thanks a bunch! over 50 attempts using murloc didn't pan out and I got this one in one
if you won with this you were extremely lucky with your draws and the cards that the AI played. i just tried it out for fun and i lost approx. 20 times in a row.
Won on my 1st try. Great Deck. I got Kel' out with sludge and dark cultist. Never looked back. Just stomped all over The Lich and his Trapped Souls.
This deck can work, but you need to be lucky. Defender of Argus and Sunfury Protector set you up to lose greater value to The Black Night. It's easy to make it to the last phase of battle, but it's not equipped with enough value to finish unless you draw specific combos and the opponent doesn't have a very strong end game. This deck is not very effective, heavily relies on a strong starting hand (i.e. mulligan until you get cleric+(pain or power). I am definitely playing this deck correctly, and I see how it can win, but it's unlikely. I challenge the people who won on their first try to see if they can do it a couple times in a row, because I'm guessing it's near impossible.
Paladin deck but require a good draw before turn 7.
Awesome deck, the boss was too easy with this one.
This does work, I had a 14 attack hyena with windfury. Was able to defeat him before frostmourne. Although it took me a few restarts to get the right cards to play at the beginning.
