If you’ve been playing for that long, your collection is decent. So money is not the answer.
Here are a few suggestions that have helped me.
1. Pick one deck and stick with it. A major part of laddering is learning your matchups very well. There are tons of little tricks that you need to know against every other class. And if you keep bouncing around, you never learn those tricks.
2. Once, you’ve picked a deck, read about it. Like a bunch. Google your deck and 12+ articles will come up. Read them. Experts are happy to teach you how to play your deck better and give you insight into the matchups that seem tough.
3. Every game, find a mistake that you made. People like to blame RNG for losses. But it’s important to reflect in every match, and think through your lines of play and find an example where you made a mistake. Analyze why it was a mistake and how your could have played better. Did you over commit into a board clear? Maybe you traded when you should have gone face, or vice versa? Were you always counting how much damage until lethal? Did you maybe play cards in the wrong order or make sub-optimal trades? Did you consider what your opponent’s best play was for the next turn and then try to make that difficult for them to accomplish?
There are a million little ways a game could’ve been played better and they all matter.
4. If you’ve been playing for 4 years, you probably have a decent wild collection. Give that a try to blow off steam. Wild ranks 20-10 are a blast because there are one million decks floating around.
I actually think that Blizzard could make more money if they gave season rewards for wild and standard. I’ve dabbled in wild quite a bit, but I’ve never quite been able to bring myself to spend real money on the older expansions and adventures. Even when they offered this most recent deal on wild packs, which admittedly was a very good deal, I still could justify spending money on it.
However, I probably would have if there had been end of season wild rewards. And it’s not even necessarily because I want more free stuff at the end of the month. I mainly want some indication that Blizzard takes this game mode seriously and will continue to support it in the future.
First of all, let me say I'm not really complaining here. I think the buffs are an awesome experiment. And it's a clever way to test out the concept without affecting standard forever...
..But it will affect Wild forever. As odd Paladin is already a strong deck in Wild, do you think the new Crystology might be too strong?
Or is big Priest so strong that it won't even matter?
From the comments, it looks like everyone else is having the same problem I am. I’ve done the first quest and got my two packs. And then nothing new shows up.
Does that mean the next legendary quest will appear tomorrow? Or was the data mined info just wrong?
Feels weird that you think explosive trap doesn't count but at the same time you list Rexxar as an aoe, considering they both do the same thing. Also we don't necessarily need aoe to survive aggro, Hecklebot will definitely protect your face for many turns, and getting a card out of an aggro deck will almost never be problematic. So he's a better Tar creeper, and we all know how crazy that card was.
Even though Rexxar and explosive trap do similar things, the difference is that you are in control of Rexxar. If your opponent is playing well, they can play around explosive trap and make it a lot less effective.
I've been reading a lot of things about all the AOE's that will be rotating out with this standard cycle. Which got me thinking...what all IS leaving? And what will we still have? I included pretty much every thing that could be considered AOE and even some peudo AOE.
There are a lot of spell damage boosts in the new expansion, so some of the weaker board clears may be more effective than they appear.
Take a look and see whether you think, we will have a chance at surviving the coming aggro decks (keeping in mind, that aggro will be quite a bit weaker too.)
We'd love to! Unfortunately, we're still waiting for Curse to push through the site update with things like the database integration for the new expansion. It's ready, we're just waiting on them.
Once that goes up we can automate the process of formatting everything nicely. There's no point in laboriously manually doing it when it can be done so simply once the update goes through.
Is there a way for us to start spamming Curse with requests for them to push the update through?
Like the first guy said, definitely double copies of more stuff. But especially tar creeper, saronite chain gang, and stone hill defender. The Lich King is an incredible addition. You definitely want two copies of warpath, phantom militia, and blood razor. I think drywhisker armorer is pretty great too. You may not have these, but brawl and shield slam are pretty essential.
With all that being said, I probably would not craft anything as a lot of that is rotating in three weeks. But if you have any of those cards, it would definitely make you stronger.
Many cards will be rotating soon and most will not be missed.
However, there is one card that stands out above the rest. One card that we will all (or at least I) will be sad to lose...Charged Devilsaur, The SMORCosaurus.
Almost every deck that uses it either takes advantage of manipulating deathrattle, cheating out minions, or both. In no way is this a post dedicated to those mechanics. This post seeks to only honor our favorite face-hitting dinosaur.
I have scoured this site to find the best decks from each that class that pay appropriate homage to this beloved beast. Please feel free to let me know if I have not chosen the best deck from each class, or if you have a tribute of your own you would like to share.
If you're lucky enough to own this card, I highly recommend giving any of these a whirl ...he'll soon be gone, extinct like his ancestors.
Hunter...admittedly, the least creative (and most popular variant):

Also worth noting, even if you just copy a few basic totems, you could potentially upgrade them to random murlocs with Plague of Murlocs.

You’re right about the cost and packs, but you also get a golden pack and a legendary.
I figure we have roughly two months to save up 2800 gold. I’ll probably hold 1000 back today.

What's leaving?
Priest: Duskbreaker, Spirit Lash, Psychic Scream, Shadowreaper Anduin
Warlock: Defile, Despicable Dreadlord
Mage: Dragon's Fury, Meteor (I know, it's not technically mass removal, but it felt like it sometimes.)
Hunter: Deathstalker Rexxar
Paladin: not much
Warrior: Reckless Flurry, Blood Razor
Shaman: Volcano
Rogue: not much
Druid: Spreading Plague (It's not really removal, but it definitely slowed down aggro decks.
What will we have left?
Priest: Mass Hysteria, Auchenai Soulpriest/Auchenai Phantasm + Circle of Healing
Warlock: Shriek, Hellfire, Impferno, Twisting Nether, Shadowflame, Dread Infernal, Lord Godfrey
Mage: Blast Wave, Flamestrike, Blizzard, Arcanosaur, Arcane Explosion, Cinderstorm (that one's a stretch, I know)
Hunter: Explosive Trap, Unleash the Hounds (Both barely count)
Paladin: Consecration, Avenging Wrath
Warrior: Warpath, Brawl, Dyn-o-matic, Whirlwind, Deadly Arsenal
Shaman: Hagatha the Witch, Hagatha's Scheme, Lightning Storm, Beakered Lightning
Rogue: Fan of Knives, Blade Flurry, Vanish
Druid: Swipe, Starfall
Neutral: Dragonmaw Scorcher, Missile Launcher, Baron Geddon, Abomination, Tunnel Blaster

Druid...not nearly as good as it once was (RIP ramp):
Priest...just keep resurrecting that bad boy:
Warrior...in case you have 17000 dust just laying around:
Rogue...I literally only saw this because it was on the homepage today ( but apparently, it's good):

Shaman...I bet you didn't even know Eureka! was a card:
Warlock...we're getting worse, but this MIGHT still be viable (and obviously needs a copy of Glinda Crowskin for full meme value):
Paladin...ummm...I have so many questions:
Mage...I don't know what to tell you...slim pickins here at the end:

But we did get free packs for Dumgeon Run and Monster Hunt. Only Boomsday have us nothing.

That's awesome man! Glad you're enjoying it.

What cards do you think will have the biggest impact on the upcoming meta? Feel free to be as outlandish and hopeful as you want to be.
For me, I think these will be the best and most impactful cards from Rastakhan:

Can we all agree that Master of Ceremonies is by far the hottest?
Admittedly, Sylvanas Windrunner and Secretkeeper come close.
