The Gadgetzan Deck Recipes - They're Actually Preeetty Gooood
A user on Twitter asked Ben Brode who was responsible for the deck recipes because they felt that they were not good decks. Ben Brode gave us some insight into their winrates though and said many are at 50% at Rank 5.
Maybe they aren't that bad for climbing up the ladder after all. Check out the quote and all the deck recipes below! As always, if you're looking for some of the best decks, our site has you covered through our hot decks listing! Play around with the filters to find something you'd like to play.
Ben Brode on Gadgetzan Deck Recipes
Quote from Ben BrodeWho builds the suggested deck recipes? Why are they all so bad?
how do you define bad? Inaccessible to players with smaller collections? Can't make it to rank 20? 10? Legend? Bad theme?
FWIW I am F2P since before Naxx. I try the deck recipes that I have most or all of the cards for, and they perform terribly for me
at what rank? They aren't intended to be legend level.
low level. 20-15
we've seen 50% winrates at rank 5 with many of them. Which ones are giving you trouble?

This was actually pretty useful.. thanks!
Gang Up Rogue with Jade Swarmer, Aya Blackpaw, and Unearthed Raptor worked like a charm!
I hope this is a troll.
Its because there are only one deck recipe per expansion, so why make the kabal all reno decks if there are different types of decks to play? (but yes, it sucks)
Kruul has the no duplicates requirement...
Murloc Shaman got me rank up fast , i have favorable wins against every deck so far except against Mid-Shaman, i haven't won yet. I won't be surprise if someone will use it in conquest format tournaments.
I played that Murloc shaman for a quest at the start of the expansion. The surprise factor was there ofcourse, but I had some easy wins indeed.
Also, nice tweet by that guy claiming decks are bad while he can't get past rank 15 0.o
With many of them? Couldn't actually say which ones?
Dude can never give a complete answer.
All of them are good or playable.
The new recipes are actually quite good, however, they should do Budget - Advanced - Meta recipes every expansion, it would make them more interesting to the very least.
That actually is a good idea, esp if yer running a budget account
If people are complaining that recipe is bad and they are sure that problem is not the pilot then they should be able to see why it's bad and modify the deck accordingly. Recipes are actually fun and can give some good ideas and it's totally acceptable to modify them to make deck work better for you.
I have made the priest Dragon deck without ysera, chillmaw, twilight drake, and mana geode and it is pretty good still. 4-1 so far and only lost to a mirror match that had some better dragons in it.
Whether they are good or not doesn't matter that much. the general idea of having them is a good idea, not only for new players, but I use them for fun from time to time.
It's fun to just insta make a deck and play, why does it even matter if it's competitive ?
sometimes it's also about the momento you're playing the deck, like playing a deck that isn't good to ladder because there are a lot of specific counter deck to it. For example I play a lot of malyrogue and miracle, but it isn't good right now because there are a lot of pirate warrior and reno, that are quite a hard match up if not impossible most of the times, so i switched to play druid for a while.
Also the decks from the recipe aren't bad, it's just that they are not quite straight foward to play, usually people who are on high ranks know that they must change some cards in order to get more or less value so they can win against some class (like reno mage playing alexstrasza so they can win against jade druid) and so they can climb up.
The point is that for new players they can play these's recipes since it doens't require a lot of dust and they can get a legendary and play the deck which the card is in, but for people who already have some experience these decks might be usefull as a template so they can build a tier 2-1 deck with it to climb up to legend or rank 1-4 by replacing some cards in it to adjust their play style and ladder.
Pirate warrior is winnable, at like 30-40% with Miracle Rogue. You need to tech in patches and 3 1 drop pirates to make the early game bearable. And reno decks are really easy to beat with Red Mana Wyrm. That things gets up to 10-20 damage in 1 turn.
when I said reno I was talking about reno mage, which is problably impossible because of ice block and khazakus potion, ice block stops you from killing him, and if you try to conceal your coold blooded minions khazakus will kill him, or he will flamestrike.
Also, making a red mana wyrm takes a lot of your deck, you're problably using all your coold blood and some agressive spels, and if he iceblocks it you lose since he can stack armor, or even freeze the board so it can kill it.
It's not like you can win, but it's veeeery like veeery hard.
These decks are actually pretty strong and a lot just need 6ish card swaps to hit rank 3. Really glad these pre-build decks newer players might be trying to amass cards for are good. It would suck for newer players to spend 4 months of grinding to invest in a deck that couldn't get to rank 15 let alone 10.
