i was extremely happy, so i just wanted to share the news, and my thoughts here for anyone interested.
been playing for about 2 years, but this was the first time i hit rank 5.
i used evenlock, and started from rank 16. i think my record was something like 65-40 (im on a trip and dont have my decker tracker with me)
aside from evenlock being a tier 1-2 deck i think these were the following factors that helped contribute to my success.
1) if you familarize yourself with the meta, you can think about what cards to play around, and what cards you can tech against
2) i played a lot more than i normally have because im currently on vacay for july and august (im a school teacher)
3) finally, i personally found it tough mentally. as a result, i realized if i lost too much i had to stop or if i didnt feel like playing that day, i shouldnt even start. these reasons were also important to me because i want to enjoy my climb and the game instead of grinding it out.
this post ended up being longer than i thought lol

Top 500 wild legend with Togwaggle Druid. Really enjoyable games and thrilled to get wild legend for the first time. Hopefully new meta won't make it too powerful, as there's quite enough tech already cheers.
That's awesome, congrats. I've never made it anywhere near rank 5.
I don't know what it is about Hearthstone ranked play, but I get so frustrated that the game becomes unenjoyable.. At rank 14 or so I just stop. I can play arena for hours, though.
Playing a wild spider themed rogue deck. First game my second turn was Prep+beneath the ground, prep+beneath the ground, coin, 12/12 Vancleef. Second game I played my 4/4 spider that puts the spiders into your deck. Next turn I drew all 3.
I beat Kingsbane Rogue 4 of 4 times today, twice with Toggwaggle Druid, once with Dead Man's Warrior and once with Echo Giants Mage. I think I like wild a lot better now that these decks don't seem so broken. I just needed to learn2play
Turns out that Face Collector as Arena legendary pick can lead into 10 wins lol xDD

Another congrats from me.
Another congrats from me.
Glad to see people enjoying the game and achieving something.
Congrats!
I wish i had the nerve to sustain the risk of up&downs of such a climb...
If ut having a bad little run sometimes better to just take a break and come back at a later time fresh! Grats man
Another congrats from me. :D
Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.
Congratulations on rank 5. Honestly it takes about as many games to go from rank 5-legend as it does to go from rank 20-rank 5.
I reached legend an hour ago for the third time now so I'm sharing your enjoyment. Congratz bro, there is a challenge for you to chase.
I... must... be... nice... with... rank... five... people,... I... must... be... nice!!!
Damn, that was so hard... but I finally did it!!! :D
Just joking guys, just joking. Congratz OP!!! :)

Enjoy your free 400 dust.
I tried having fun once. It was awful.
Welcome to the big boys club buddy.
Another congrats from me. Now try the hardest climb to Legend!
