The toxic diarrhea deck known as Cyclone Mage must be dealt with. It is simply insufferable to play against this deck. Freeze, freeze, freeze, sorcerer's apprentice, 100 discounts spells, cyclone mage, free 8/8 minion, evocation into more free shit, Solariam Prime for 5 random spells worth well over 20 mana, rinse and repeat.

Once upon a time this game was based on the idea you had to design a deck and play your cards wisely - or at least with the knowledge that you would RUN OUT OF RESOURCES eventually if you were too greedy - and something called strategy was a part of how matches were decided. What happens with Cyclone Mage? SHIT OUT YOUR ENTIRE HAND EVERY TURN YOU CAN, because there is no downside, as you can simply reload and/or generate multiple random spells. This requires no forethought or intelligent decision making.

The "design" that went into Cyclone Mage is embarrassingly bad. Delete this nonsense one and for all Blizzard. And while you're at it, try and come up with an idea that makes Druid playable but not broken.

    Another rant about Mage...

Just played a game where my opponent cast Evocation 6 times by turn 13. I dragged the game out that long but you can only survive so long against that many randomly generated spells. And of course, most of them were discounted by Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Because you can discover Evocation so easily (it's a 1 mana spell and Cobalt Spellkin among others discover it easily) it leads to this kind of nonsense.

This is just awful game design. The development team should be aware if you design cards that say, "discover a 1 mana spell" which classes will be able to abuse this. And yet, here we are. It is just infuriating.

Evocation is sufficiently strong spell that it should cost 3 mana at least anyway.

I can't stand games where you don't lose to what your opponent actually put in their deck, but rather you lose to not one, or two, or three randomly generated cards... but well over fucking 10-15.

Mage is so fucking ridiculous. It is the worst designed class at the moment.

Either you play the version where you get a million free spells from Evocation/ Sorcerer's Apprentice only to recreate them with Mana Cyclone, such that the entire game is based on random crap in your hand...

OR, you play the version where you entire strategy is to make it to turn 10, play the Amazing Asshole, and then wait/hope for random spells each turn to win you the game.

Oh wait, there is also version 3, where you play a bunch of asshole cards followed by that fucking Turtle over and over again and the game becomes a long drawn out version of solitaire.

    Fun and interactive.

I agree that Rogue feels too powerful now. The amount of face damage they can deal out by turn 5 is disgusting. But it would only take a minor nerf or two.

Priest is gross. I have no idea how to fix it.

Face Hunter is another deck that is just too strong. You're dead by turn 6. I'm not sure what the answer is there. Tour Guide is probably too strong - zero cost hero power is insane for Hunter.

Druid - it's Guardian Animals. It is just too strong. Games against Druid feel awful.

Or, they could buff the weaker classes - Paladin and Shaman. And yes, I include Paladin there. The class barely exists in high ranks. It just can't compete with the power that Rogue, Hunter, DH an even Warlock can dish out.

I hate this deck with the fire of a 1000 angry suns. It is so stupid. But if they get the combos going, you are normally finished. Fun and interactive!

It's a stupid card which will decide some games on turn 2. I've seen it kill itself, or cast something useless. But I've also seen it cast spells that make it hard to remove, which lets it snowball.

It was a really stupid card for Blizzard to release. Imagine if they'd given Totem Shaman a consistent, reliable turn 2 drop instead.

posted a message on Libram Paladin is in desperate need of nerfs

I'm in the top 1000 legend now (barely) and I can tell you Libram Paladin is not even close to Tier 1.  I've been playing it for a week now and it is very hard to gain ranks.

I appreciate the story is different at lower ranks. But the deck is not oppressive and can be easily countered.  It does not need to be nerfed.

    Quote from Demon723 >>

Can Blizzard please do something about the freeze mechanic? My entire board got frozen for 3 turns in a row (2 Blizzards and a frost nova). When i properly developed my board and had lethal. Then my opponent usedTortollan Pilgrim and Potion of Illusion to keep me infinitely frozen with his last frost nova. This is not fun and extremely broken. Please fix this blizzard

I've faced this deck as well. It's awful to play against. Shit mechanics like this ruin the game. It's just solitaire; nothing you do matters if your opponent can draw his cards in the right order.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Call to Adventure is definitely out... I've been running the new 5 mana +8/+8 spell because it's too awesome to not!

Currently about legend 700 with this list... have trouble vs. stealth aggro Rogue, but otherwise it feels very good.

posted a message on First day of expansion and I am already salty

Druid needs nerfs because the deck feels awful to play against. I've seen Druids on turn 1 or 2 do insane things. Guardian Animals is a huge offender. Whatever cards are targeted, it's one of those decks where this is no interaction with your opponent that matters in many games. It's just a question of, "Does my opponent have the nuts?"

What you do in response doesn't matter in far too many games.

posted a message on Shadowstep should not cost 0

The problem here isn't Shadowstep. It's that the Rogue classic set is very good, and many of those cards see play every rotation.

Other classes do not have such a strong classic set.

Blizzard really needs to rework the classic cards for all classes ala Priest.

What frustrates me about Shadowstep, backstab, VanCleef etc isn't that they're overpowered... it's that EVERY single Rogue deck includes them, and playing vs. Rogue in 2020 feels largely the same as it did in 2016, 2017, etc. (I wasn't playing before that, but Kibler ranted this summer that it feels the same as when Hearthstone took off initially.)
