posted a message on Basic Cards Rotating

I think basic needs an update, but not a yearly rotation.  A few solid cards in some classes (priest imidiately jumps to kind) would help the class be less dependent on standard cards to be viable.

Big spell variety will be rotating too soon for my crafting taste.  Much of it will still be viable after rotation, but I would look up less dust dependent builds as far as year of the mammoth cards.

No clue how to test this but many of these packs case out before the guaranteed legend in first 10 packs rule.  Think the 10 pack thing would be in effect even if it’s an older player?

I don’t think it’s greedy.  People have been asking for ways to buy wild packs.  Hopefully they will add some sort of way to purchase wild cards with gold.

How much do you like wild?  Recruit, spell hunter, and death rattle hunter will all take huge hits in the rotation.  Oondasta and Shaw will be playable to very good after rotation.  The Loa is solid as well.

If you are a standard only to mostly player, watch out for crafting anything before Witchwood.

posted a message on Wild Growth and Fiery War Axe nerfs - when cards are class features

Huffer could use a tiny nerf to combat the big burst damage.  KC might need a small nerf, I could see that happening.  Eaglehorn has plenty of tech options against it, but if team 5 thinks fiery war axe needed the nerf maybe they should look at this card.

Not all 3 at once, don’t want hunter instantly decimated.  I think the nourish nerf on top of the rampant growth was too much at once.

posted a message on Wild Growth and Fiery War Axe nerfs - when cards are class features

The new team in place have taken a really broad view on class balance.  They found wild growth to be in 95% of Druid meta decks, generally tier 1 and 2.  They made a tough call, but I think we’re looking at solid balance after the last slew of Brode Era power creeped cards are rotated.

posted a message on Playing around tech cards

Tech cards that you suspect your opponent is running are hard to play around because they opponent has chosen to lower their win rate against some decks to do better against others.  For a few specific examples I'll give you my general work arounds.  You'll still lose often to them, but that's the point.

Dirty Rat:  You can't leave your important win conditions as the only card in your hand.  For example, if I were playing a Shudderwock deck and I suspect my opponent has a dirty rat I'll hold onto fire flies or small creatures so that there are multiple targets to get pulled from your hand instead of just one.   The more targets in your hand, the better the chance that you'll save the card you need.

Harrison Jones:  Really, really hard to play around with multiple weapons.  If you think your opponent is running weapon destruction always try to make sure you can swing with your weapon when you drop it.  So don't attack with one weapon and immediately equip another.  Weapon destruction is simply the hardest tech card to play around.  You can try to bait out the weapon destruction on a worse weapon if you are running multiple weapons.  Like drop a candleshot and hope they kill it so you can drop your eaglehorn or Rohk'delar (sp?!) in peace.

Mind Control Tech:  Either don't create a needless token to put yourself over 4 (like having 3 good creatures as paladin and then hero powering) or flood with lots of small creatures to make it less likely they'll get your big goon.

Are there any other tech cards you're having trouble against?

I have been away from the game for a couple of months now, but some of you may remember my pogo rogue thread where we were trying to make the most streamlined version of the deck. (the thread covered all rogue decks really, but it's main focuss was on boomsday archetypes)

we came to the conclusion it was like 50% winrate deck when it was built and piloted correctly, but it did fall victim to dead hand (which tbh I think is a rogue problem in general. most rogue decks rely too heavily on too few cards to function properly, this is why we see the same odd and tempo rogue decks that we had like 6+ months ago)

one of the reasons I am re-opening the topic is the inclusion of the shark spirit card. I am going to re-make the deck, but with the sole purpose of just trying to make huge bunnies and see how stupid they can get. This first version will not be streamlined for ladder play, but more just for fun and to see just how fat we can make these bunnies.

If anyone would like to join in, feel free to post any decks lists, anecdotes and replays here. I will read and reply to everything (within reason)

As I mentioned above, I feel that there might be problems with rogue in general that mean that there are few decks that can be built that don't rely too heavily  on specific cards to get going properly. We do have Odd Rogue and Tempo rogue that do well in their basic forms, but when we try and do new things with these archetypes, it tends to hinder the decks over performance more than anything (shark spirit, I'm looking at you)

Miracle rogue is another. it is still a beautiful deck to play, and probably the hardest thing to play right in the game because of all the options it has. It seems to be a deck that people only play once they hit their desired rank though now. I have yet to see one on ladder since I returned (granted I'm still at the bottom right now)

While we are here, I'd love to see any type of rogue deck with a little bit of innovation in there, I'd love to hear how it's doing as well.

I'm sure some of you will have been able to make something I've not really seen yet that works, or is rogue just in a bit of a bad place right now as far as win rates go?

I think we have some really cool tools there, but we're not going to see them fully realized before the rotation. we can only hope that the newer tools get further support and can live up to kingsbane and strider in the rogues gallery hall of fame.

so anyway dudes, hit me with that data stick.

Rogue is my favorite class to make weird decks with.  Pogo hunter and shuffle decks are some of my favorites.  The shuffle rogue in particular was a blast, either with a few dozen Ambush spiders in your deck or dropping 9-10 bombs into your opinnents’ Deck.

The trouble is the current meta. Hunter is a bad matchup for most quirky rogue decks.

I never played with the bomber, I may have to craft 1 and try it out.

Yeah I made a few shuffle decks. I had a great one I named "tesspionage" which is probably self explanatory.

did you use augmented elekk as well? I was all over that card to start with, but ended up cutting it from a lot of decks due to being slow. I kept it in Tesspionge though as it was awesome to see all those cards get added, and could make for some proper crazy games. I still haven't got to use tess properly yet, but luckily she doesn't rotate for another year, so there's  still time.

did you get the unstable element? I didn't manage to open either of the rogue legendaries from boomsday yet so not been able to try it out.

I did make one of those death rattle decks with the new tools as well. this is another deck slays when it draws well, but if you don't get the cards you need you are gonna die.

I use Elekks for my shuffle decks that rely on spiders and bombs for the finishers.  I don't use it for Espionage or Pogo decks.  Espionage decks I find that too many cards being shuffled in results in getting to a top deck position very quickly.  Pogo decks I just felt like it didn't make the cut.  I rarely got too deep into the deck that required more than a lab recruit or two.

I have the Unstable Element but it didn't go so well for me.  I never tried it in Espionage decks which I feel would probably be a good fit.  I honestly only picked up that card a few weeks ago and I've  been a little fatigued on losing with rogue outside of meta decks.

Dumb note about the bomb shuffle rogue, I actually had a really great win rate in boomsday with this deck until they nerfed Giggling Inventor.  The inventor and Sonya Shadowdancer could stall certain decks for a long time while I loaded up the bombs.

posted a message on A new keyword interaction, REACTIVE

So here’s how this could work...  let me know if this is what you had in mind.

Reactive Taunter Dude:   Your hero is attacked.

    3 mana 2/2 taunt

There is no way to stop the reactive going off even if you wish it wasn’t played.  It functions sort of like secrets from your hand.

If I have this correctly let me know, I’ve got thoughts on this if I understand it.
