Hello Everyone. First of all, sorry if this is being posted in the wrong place. Theorycrafting forums tend to forget about rogue. Many people are upset/disappointed in the new rogue cards, but I figured I might start this thread, hopefully get something going on, and try to put together some kind of decent Rogue deck, with help from anyone interested of course.
Every time an expansion hits I tend to be overwhelmed and have a hard time comimg up with deck possibilities. Im not the best of players, just average I guess. Anyways.
I believe a deathrattle rogue could be somewhat viable? At this point I think something could be done with N'zoth and Journey Below, but Im not that sure. Is it too slow? Gimmicky? What cards you guys think could be used? Or maybe another deck archetype could be made?
It's a tempo deck that didn't rely on weapon buffs previously. I added in N'zoth the Corruptor for extra help in the longer games that are probably going to be common. My biggest concern is that without Big Game Hunter and Sabotage it's going to be weak on the removal, so definite adjustments will be needed.
This is probably going to be my Day 1 Deathrattle deck.
Also, something that might be worth a shot in a Control type deck instead of Blade Flurry is Betrayal. Rogue can usually hold their own against 1-2 minions, but 3+ is where it get more difficult and is where this card shines.
I really think Miracle is the way to go, but I really don't know where to start. Rogue players need to do some real testing post Blade Flurry nerf. Do we play that at all? Does Dark Iron Skulker make sense? Betrayal? How valuable is Deadly Poison now?
It's quite possible there's a solid deck out there everyone is overlooking. Djinni Paladin, Egg Druid, and other decks were all discovered long after the cards were released.
The big thing for me is the lack of survivability; that may force us to run a faster deck. I don't think anyone really knows the answers.
With BGH at 5 mana and maybe out of decks, Edwin will be nice to pull out early once again. Outside of that with a little help from Southsea SquidfaceBlade Flurry may work out towards a late game clear with Poison. Miracle may still be our best shot, but it'll take some play testing to find the right setup
It's nice to see a positive thread about rogues for once! (the class gets a set of cards that are nearly all widely considered good or better, and all you see are people upset about losing blade flurry)
anyway, i have plans for rogue decks of all shapes and sizes. Perhaps the least obvious being one that makes use of all the coins and 1 cost cards rogue minions now create with Illidan Stormrage and similar cards.
I think pirate rogue will be below tier 1 (I would guess tier 3), Gang up is probably going to be core in rogue C'Thun decks. I could also see deathrattle y'shaarj deck being viable but similar to what raptor rogue was- interesting but not really gamebreaking. Leper gnome still has 2 damage deathrattle so could make an interesting deck (however a lot of key deathrattles left and not a lot of sweet ones came). I'm sure Journey Below and Southsea Squidface could be viable in such a deck.
Of all the above decks, I somehow see C'Thun being the king of rogue, with miracle still being there. I see evolved kobold as being a sneaky good card in rogue burst or miracle decks as 2 eviscerate with it (total of 8 mana) doing 12 damage is pretty decent (double fireball level almost (3 cards vs 2).
Edit: For some reason I could see the rogue being a potential burst/aggro deck with bladed cultist and journey below having potential.Pirate seems viable with weapon damage as part of it.
Mmmmh i'm not a big fan of raptor rogue. Never tried it before but maybe it will work. Do you really need Shadowcaster ? You'll have the time to play it ? Maybe you should focus more on other deathrattles minions that will definitely seal the game when you play N'Zoth the corruptor. Just an idea. I did not focus on those cards at all
I'm toying with C'Thun (trying to decide between tempo, control or reno) so these are my attempts at it. Still unsure of how to do a flat out stall rogue.
Maybe I will be playing standard Miracle in the first "wildness days" of standard and see how it goes. Blade Flurry might not be the best removal now, but meta will a little slow down so it (might not) be needed as much.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Once upon a time, only goblins piloted shredders. These days, everyone from Doomsayer to Lorewalker Cho seems to ride one.
I'm sure Malygos or even Southsea + Faceless might be better, but I want to see how an old school Leeroy deck functions, even if the deck I have listed is probably terrible.
Xaril in particular seems it'd help minion-based Miracle deck: Extra Shadowstep effect, a Blessing of Might, Stealthing Auctioneer, a simple draw a card, and even the 2 damage Toxin can be useful in keep the board under control, or just a little extra reach.
I feel like Journey Below would be a good card to include: Even ignoring that it's a cheap 1 cost card for Auctioneer, it has the potential to give you things like Tomb Pillager, Loot Hoarder, and even Bloodmage Thalnos. I wouldn't be surprised to see Journey Below in rogue decks that don't necessarily center around Deathrattle.

Fear Can't kill you, but...
For the last while I have been running this deck in ladder:
With the release of all the latest cards I was eyeballing something like this:
It's a tempo deck that didn't rely on weapon buffs previously. I added in N'zoth the Corruptor for extra help in the longer games that are probably going to be common. My biggest concern is that without Big Game Hunter and Sabotage it's going to be weak on the removal, so definite adjustments will be needed.
Figured I'd take a stab at a C'Thun/Fatigue deck, and came up with:
No clue if I took a viable deck, and made it worse, or if it's something actually viable tho XD
This space intentionally left blank.
I'm gonna try a miracle deck with Leeroy, featuring Xaril for Gadgetzan. Nothing new, I just want to see how viable classic Rogue is with no Flurry.
Also, a N'Zoth Raptor deck is next on my list, we actually got some pretty great tools.
I hope the classic style of Rogue is still playable on some level, as much as I love Raptor Rogue, it's not the same.
I wish Valeera had tentacles for arms
This is probably going to be my Day 1 Deathrattle deck.
Also, something that might be worth a shot in a Control type deck instead of Blade Flurry is Betrayal. Rogue can usually hold their own against 1-2 minions, but 3+ is where it get more difficult and is where this card shines.
Just a question: if you Gang Up a copy of C'Thun, does it keep its stats? If you then play Disciple of C'Thun, do ALL your C'Thun's get the bonus? What about Thistle Tea or Vanish on C'Thun?
The problem with all of this is survival, of course...
I really think Miracle is the way to go, but I really don't know where to start. Rogue players need to do some real testing post Blade Flurry nerf. Do we play that at all? Does Dark Iron Skulker make sense? Betrayal? How valuable is Deadly Poison now?

I tried something too ! I wanted to keep the kind of deck that we loved to play, like malygos rogue, but you know, we have to Evolve.
Here it is !
I explained almost everything in the "guide" part. Feel free to take part of the adventure !
I do think I want to try a n'zoth the corruptor deck, and I have been thinking about something withShadowcaster and the Blood of The Ancient One could be a really cool/fun deck.
Also there is some excitement aboutC'Thun rogues and I think they will be one of the better classes for it.
I'm toying with C'Thun (trying to decide between tempo, control or reno) so these are my attempts at it. Still unsure of how to do a flat out stall rogue.
Hey guys, i was also thinking of a standard rogue deck and came up with this. What do you guys think?
I a not sure yet...

Currently experimenting with a classic Leeroy-based Miracle deck. Shameless plug:

Nat Flippin-Pagle gets corrupted, but the Mighty Millhouse Manastorm doesn't?!
Death to the Darkfisher! \(' ^' )/
I made a dragon one. I'm sure it's bad but it should be fun to pull off the combo. It's all about the challenge of playing rogue now right. lol.
