posted a message on Time for non-meta play mode!

While I really do like the idea, there’s no reason you can’t compete and win with off-meta decks in ranked. You’ll need to put in counter cards to popular decks but it’s doable. I only play off-meta decks and regularly hit rank 5 and even got legend once.

That being said, I wouldn’t mind a mode like this. IMO the best way to implement it is for the data to be collected about which decks have been played already. Once a deck has been played ten times in a month, nobody can play that list again nor can they play one with less than a 4 card difference from it. This way people can’t get around banned lists by making one minor change. At the end of the month the ban list resets. You’ll get meta players on the first day farming each other but after that it’s just pure ingenuity. I don’t know a way to make the data visible so people know how to craft their deck without it being banned already but perhaps there’s a way.

The nice thing about this game is you are welcome to tech your deck however you want. If your experience is that Crushing Walls isn't working, swap it out for whatever you think is better!

I feel like the Big Priest deck must just be a major douche-magnet for all the BMing I receive when playing against this deck.

Leeroy provides guaranteed targets for you to get Gonk charges with. Removing him means your opponent has to have a number of minions on the board that you can kill to get the extra hits on face.

posted a message on THIEF ROGUE (5 TO 25) FUNNIEST THIEF EVER

I've played with Academic Espionage a lot (and thief rogue even more). If you're playing with Academic, you should be dropping virtually all of the thief cards (aside from Tess or Cutlass). The reason for this is simple: Academic is a massive tempo card and you need to capitalize on it with as much draw as possible so that you can outtempo your opponent. Your deck has no draw aside from the two Minstrels and little to nothing in the way of defensive tools. You should be running things like Fan of Knives, Sprint, Witchwood Piper, Tar Creeper, Stonehill, Thalnos etc to both help you survive and to draw into your tools. I don't doubt that you made it from 5 to 2 but you were likely running up against very slow, high value decks that you could outvalue with your constant flood of cards. I imagine this would have a hard time standing against aggro outside of getting lucky and drawing Espionage + some crazy generated minions early.

Does this mean the thief cards are bad? Of course not. But they fit better in a deck like wild thief where you can use Ethereal Peddler to actually regain the tempo loss from playing the cards in the first place. In that type of deck, I would probably avoid Espionage or use a one-of as it doesn't provide much in the way of consistency.

To the guy literally playing in wild the exact standard Shirvallah OTK that has been around for months...

Spending your final turn roping and repeatedly saying "Well Played" doesn't make you a better player. You're already terrible for putting yourself in TWO situations where your Acolyte of Pains could burn a combo piece, and made even worse by not including several of the wild cards you could have used to make your deck better. I couldn't care less about the win as I just needed to complete quests that were already done, but I hope you lose your next five for being an annoying BMer.

Interesting. I always played Hakkar in a healadin/Uther deck and didn't think about using it instead in a prelate deck. I might have to try that out as it thins way faster

posted a message on Rogue players After Nerf

Why do people automatically assume that a deck becomes completely unviable after a minor nerf? Odd rogue is a boring face deck but this nerf will virtually have no impact on the win rate of it. If you like the deck, keep playing it. If you don’t, there’s plenty of fun and viable rogue decks like big rogue (wild), pogo rogue, tess rogue, espionage cycle, maly rogue, pirate rogue, etc.

Bloodreaver is great and all but there's circumstances where LJ is more useful. With the standard rotation, he'll likely see play again in some lists.

Nothing is more frustrating than some of the asshole users on this website. The anonymity of the internet makes some people such douchebags. If you don't like an idea, give constructive feedback or - and I know this is a revolutionary idea - just close the thread! There's no reason to be rude and insulting toward people's intelligence. And the people that upvote that behaviour are just as bad. The number of downvotes on decks from people who don't even deckbuild themselves or people who just play the T1 netdecks and don't even give new things a shot is super demoralizing. I haven't been very active on Hearthpwn in the last while and the constant dickishness of some users makes me want to just avoid posting altogether.

Rant over. Needed to get that out...

You made this tread in order to post your deck? It sucks man. Go on. It is slow and you don't have resources. Can we something new instead of something old bored and bad?

I didn't make this list to post my deck. I made it to see if others are running recruit warrior. It's been incredibly successful for me and I see nobody running the archetype anymore. I didn't even have an actual deck made on Hearthpwn until people asked me to post something, I just said the main cards I was using. Not sure why this bothered you so much that you had to go and shoot it down. I'm trying to promote counter-meta decks and encouraging people to branch out past what is currently defined as T1. Take your rudeness elsewhere please...

Without Tank Up, Reckless Flurry is garbage.  Play the deck a valid sample size number of times, and you would figure that out.

That’s far from correct. I only run one copy but being able to combo it with Shield Block gives you a 5 damage AOE for 6 mana. Very useful when you’re a deck that essentially does nothing but stall for the first five turns. Play the deck at all and you would see that there’s plenty of times that you can use it efficiently.

Thanks, but I don't' feel like donating stars.  Recruit Warrior, even if you build it right, has terrible matchups with both OTK decks andHunter.

You asked a question.  Here is your answer.  Dismiss it if you want.  Keep on living in your fantasy world

My question was about the deck. You gave a dismissive answer about one card which I actually responded to, despite you essentially claiming I have no experience playing the deck.

The real reason this deck isn't really viable in the current meta is that it has such a low win-rate vs hunter and hunter makes up such a high % of the meta right now. I love playing control warrior but it just hasn't been tier 1 for a long time now.

Normal CW suffers this fate but recruit warrior pumps out big threats. Yes, hunter can use Hunter's Mark and Deadly Shot to take out the big threats but with enough board control and big threats, you can overwhelm your opponent unless they get Rexxar early.

can I have a look at your list?

I'm sure there's some changes that could be made in this list to improve matchups but this is what I've been working with.

You haven’t even gotten to legend with it. You say you don’t want to try but then you also say you have a really good winrate, so legend should be pretty easy.

I made legend once on an absurdly high win rate with wild secret hunter and it was stressful enough despite it taking less than 100 games from rank 15 to legend. I have no interest in wasting my time doing it again. I merely play for enjoyment and essentially just complete quests. That’s why I’m asking others who have tried it since I’m not willing to put in the time myself but still like the deck.

I almost never see this deck on ladder yet every time I play it I crush every other deck I run up against. Between Brawl, Reckless Fury, Warpath and Blood Razor you have tons of AOE. Execute and Shield Slam give strong single target removal. Hero power, Shield Block and Unidentified Shield give survivability. And with big threats like Sleepy Dragon, Ysera, Lich King, Geosculptor, Dragonhatcher and Grom being cheated out by Woecleaver, Gather Your Party and Boomship you can overpower your opponent easily. And then a copy of DMH adds some consistency in case of unlucky draws.

I’ll admit that my sample size is fairly small (around 40 games) because I don’t have the interest to push for legend again but I’ve almost never had such a good win rate. I find it better than normal CW lists because it can swap to offense quickly, giving you a chance against OTKs and DK Rexxar and Jaina. Does anyone else run this deck? Have you seen similar results to me?
