Got 12-1 in Heroic Brawl with this list, except Giigling plus Project changed for Geist plus Spellbreaker (I had only copy of each card in my collection).
And second deck is once again Rogue. Class just seems very comfortable to play, its strong sides thrive in board and tempo oriented metagames such as we have now. One thing worth noticing is that you cant actually reliably draft a lot of draw tools, like you did before Boomsday, so instead you need to make a middle part of your deck beefy and pick pseudo draw when you have that option. Triple Hallucination was very good in that role and as a side effect made almost every game feel fresh and different. 1-cost spells and 1-drops are still good, despite a lack of combo cards being offered, you need them to smooth out your 4 mana slot, which you have most chances to miss, since in your draft you need to mainly concetrate on 3-drops.
Pretty well balanced Control Warlock deck, four different board clears, several removal spells, lots of healing and taunts. Happy Ghoul was kinda great in this run, going second against opponent with 1-drop you can either remove it and play free 3-3 or coin double 3-3. Deck had enough lategame to go in fatigue against few greedy opponents (and win). Lost both games two different Warriors, that matchup is somewhat unfavorable due to Warlock's Arcanite Reaper allergy.
And second deck is Rogue. Pretty standard, average card quality isnt too impressive but it sufficed. E.M.P. turned out to be quite a dissapointment - because of the absence of new expansion offering bonus we rarely see new cards and mechs are mostly new cards... so max value I got from my E.M.P. in 14 games was Harvest Golem. Blightnozzle Craler turned out to be very awkward as well, pretty hard to conviniently ativate it without full control over board. Edwin was mostly a 4-4 and sometimes a 6-6 on the coin. Big MVPs of this run were Sap and Kidnapper, those cards are perfect in more faster, tempo-oriented and less answers prevalented meta we have now.
Warrior feels like one of the best classes to play right now, based on pure quality of cards being offered in drafts. You are still getting a lot of weapons and crazy good board control tools like Warpath or Execute. You can really push over decks which are trying to be super slow and reactive - Mage, Warlock, Priest, even Druid since you can have more options against their taunt walls than just neutral Mossy. Trickiest card in this deck was Bladed Gauntlet - it turns out that requirement on this weapon is pretty hard to match in average game of arena. Most of the times it acted as 2 mana pseudo Shield Slam to activate my Execute, but in did some work in couple of more slower matches, where I was able to stack some armor.
Had another Rogue draft today which went 11 wins and was quite different to this one. This deck is much more late-game oriented which was made possible by having double Ziliax and its heal power in conjunction with bunch of other mechs and buffs like Cold Blood. Heal in Rogue is extremly powerful, probably more so than in any other class and Ziliax isnt just healer, but also a convinient removal tool. Other interesting card was Worgen Abomination, first time I actually had the opportunity to play with the card - it turned out to be ok, insane synergy with Cheap Shot and heropower, it made possible a couple of very complicated comebacks.
Pretty straightforward Rogue deck. Decent amount of solid 3-drops, little more lategame than usual because I was not offered any draw options in my draft. 5-drop slot is insanely good with Fungal, Slayer and Chemist. One card which positively surpised me in this run was Igneous Elemental - because this deck doesnt run any 1-drops or 2-drops, having 1-2 token elementals was very useful for activation of Slayer and Chemist before getting to turn 8, when it was easily done with the help 3-drops. Coppertail Imposter also seems pretty solid to me, I had it in couple of decks already and it turns out that stealth on a 4-drop mech can be often extremly useful if you consider 5 mana magnetic cards and other on-curve buff options like Fungal or Valkir.
Somewhat awkwardly built deck. Double Fungal and double Bonemare very often felt impossible to get into play, cause most of them game I was kept off the board until the boardclear changed things around or I played my Wyrm. Fungal especially was strugglinh because of my lack of 1- and 2-drops, I couldnt get full value from it in the midgame when I had only oine minion on board. Strongest tempo play of this deck is Godfrey into Bonemare, it swung several games. Spell damage in form of Magi felt solid as always. If I were to change this deck, I would probably swap one Defile for another solid 2-drop.
Deck seemed pretty generic to me, didnt expect it to go undefeated, but it did have a solid curve and average card quality. Omega Agent is definitely underbucketed and underrated - that card is insane, especially in Warlock. I was offered a bunch if self-damage synergy cards, didnt end up picking many of them, but Crystallizer is a helluva combo card, worked great with my double Reaver and probably would have worked with other ones I skipped. Otherwise not much to say, feels like 3-drop slot is kinda key in this meta, 2-drop not so much, having 1-drops is always nice though.
Day one was pretty good, had 11 wins with Warrior and even smoother run with this deck. Rogue felt really good before this expansion, but with addition of Crazed Chemist its tempo game potenial went through the roof. Granted, I almost didnt see any of the new cards in my drafts, so it may not be too big of a factor. Main takeaway from this deck is that having extremly tight curve can be very benefitial. It has no cards that cost more than 5 mana except for one copy of Violet Wyrm and obscene amount of good 3-drops, which is quite important for the class. Some games I was close to fizzling out, but most of the time density of the deck was sufficient.
I see. I dont think Paladin will be trash-tier either, but it is a long way coming from #9 to tier-1 and I'm not on the "5-mana Equality which doesnt allow you to go through taunts" hype train too, it seem to me as a trash-card, or a very situational one at the very least. Would take Humility over it any time.
- The reduced frequency of weapons hurts them slightly - Paladin is ranked #9 at HSreplay right now Seems slightly enough for me to not put it in tier 1.
Had a Rogue draft with 10 points higher average card quality right before this one, but it got shotgunned at 6 wins. Main thing I noticed in my Rogue gameplay after most recent changes is that you dont just need to have a 3-drop - it also has to be sticky. Just playing Blink Fox might not gonna cut in some of the more tempo-oriented games. Fortunately, so far most people didnt make adjustments in their playstyle and you still can squeeze them out, but I have a feeling that moving forward (especially when magnetic boiz will hit the board) you will need to draft your deck considerably more agressive than in past couple of month.
I thought people should have learned that stats is not the most important thing when it comes to Warlock cards after Rin, which was unanimously proclaimed a joke trash card. Not saying this card is any good, just putting it out there.
