As we all should know by now, Blizzard is giving us a free class legendary when we log in on expansion day. While I am grateful for blizzard's recent newfound and increased generosity, I feel that for some players this will generate some bad feelings like resentment that could backfire on Blizzard. My main point here (if you haven't figured it out for yourself yet) is that there could be a hot class legendary (Hagatha anyone) that you want to craft golden only to have the disappointment of getting it regular on login before having a chance to craft it.
I know there were a lot of players who crafted The Lich King and other Death Knights golden on day 1 before doing the solo mission that awarded you a free plain Death Knight. How would you feel if you wanted to craft a golden Lich King only to get the regular version at login. You might feel the desire to dust it for 400 dust getting only 1/4 the dust value while your friend got another legendary that puts him 1 legendary closer to collecting another desirable legendary and the complete set.
This represents a regression from the Knights expansion in that we have less control over what is going into our collection in a game where by its nature gives us little control to begin with. I understand there is no solo event this time, but I think we should be able to access our collection before receiving our free gift. If we have some control over what we craft then we can't be mad at Blizzard if we craft an unplayable legendary. The responsibility is on the player at that point. I want to drop some potential solutions to this problem.
1. Just give everyone 1600 dust on login. The player is 100% responsible for their crafting habits. Also newer and FTP players will probably appreciate this a lot more than crafting 1 legendary.
2. Create a blank card with a golden gemstone reserved for any legendary or class legendary in the set of the player's choosing.
3. Tie the class legendary to something besides logging in so we can get to our collection first.
Personally, if I Iike what I see from Hagatha, I will consider crafting it golden. However, I might shy away from doing it if I get it regular from login. It may be too late to change this policy, but I hope Blizzard reconsiders. Blizzard is missing an opportunity to reduce the dust economy on this one and giving us a lose/lose situation instead of converting it to a win/win situation. Let me know your opinions on this one.
Edit: Due to an overwhelmingly negative reaction to this post, I thought of another solution to this problem. I am trying to make a less than ideal situation a little better. I have no idea how to give suggestions about the game without "Complaining".
#4. Upon login the player can accept the Legendary or 'reroll' into another legendary once and accept that one instead. FTP and Whales both win.
As someone who always crafts golden rogue legendaries I agree it would be nice to have an opportunity to craft before receiving the free legendary. Lose/lose is a bit of an overstatement though...
Some call it greed, but I prefer the term Dragon Sickness, which is a quite common affliction on those threads. You can trust me on this one, I wouldn't be self proclaimed doctor otherwise..!
I'd say no to the dust. Point is to have a Legendary to play around with on Day 1 for those few who don't spend their life in game. And not to have everyone playing the same 1 Legendary on day 1. And people will be disappointed any way you slice it.
I don't agree with everything the OP has said, but he has a point, you know? Getting a free legendary that is completely trash (and there are way too many of those, each expansion), or one for a class that you would have to invest around 10k dust to play it, is just plain unfun, and I'd go as far as saying that you might as well not give anything out if that's gonna be the case. It would be cool if they at least let you choose the class legendary that you get, so people could actually happily play their favorite class day one.
I completely agree. Yeah, it sounds like OP is just complaining about free stuff, but when you get a completely unusable Legendary, it doesn't just feel bad. It feels like Blizzard is mocking you. I mean just take this last round, some people got Aluneth or Skull of the Man'ari and other people got The Runespear. That's a pretty enormous difference in power level and play-ability.

"What have you got there,
PinocchioMalygos?"Sure. I hate when people hand me free stuff too.
That's a FIrst World Problem if I've ever seen one.
I tried having fun once. It was awful.
It'd be nice to get more control over our free stuff, but blizzard is already being incredibly generous.

#whaleproblems if this is your issue just buy another $50+ worth of packs
This thread is dumb.
If you can afford to craft golden legendaries, does it really matter that you have a small chance of losing out on 1200 dust?
Blizzard is giving a FREE legendary card and you are complaining about it... I don't understand
What?
nvm
This has got to be a troll.

The solution is to give you the legendary in a box or a pack so you open it as a special pack that contains only 1 class legendary.
Out of all the things to complain about..
Unpopular opinion: Rogue is OP
