Probably because the redemption was still in play when the second mad scientist died, you can't have 2 of the same secret, and you had no other secrets. So the order of events.
1. Redemption in play
2. Mad scientist starts dying.
3. Mad scientist's deathrattle triggers and tries to pull a secret.
4. There's only redemptions, and redemption is in play, so deathrattle fizzles.
5. Mad scientist deathrattle finishes resolving and finishes dying.
6. Mad scientist is dead.
7. There is no secret.
8. His family mourns.
9. The undertaker comes.
10. Too bad he wasn't played before the mad scientist though, missed a buff "that was a mistake"
11. It's ok there are other mad scientists
12. Some of them even like redemption
13. How do you redeem a mad scientist
14. Coupons.
15. I'll stop now it's lunchtime

I find that for a lot of the F2P games I play, once I spend money to give myself too much of an in-game advantage, I get bored of the game. So although I can afford to buy 100+ packs, I will probably buy a smaller amount (perhaps 40) to get myself started and then earn the rest through grinding. I think the game would be more satisfying that way, and give myself something to aim towards.

Damn, I saw this thread and for a moment thought that GvG dropped early and the three packs were already available...

I would agree with you if they came out with a neutral minion that could give another minion stealth. But I fail to see how giving other classes a small chance of drawing the Finicky Cloakfield (which only lasts one turn, mind you) makes Rogue worse off. You still need to be a Rogue to consistently have access to stealth.
In fact, if I wanted to point out something that ruins Rogue's stealth mechanic, I would point to the numerous non-targeted RNG damage cards (e.g. Flamecannon, Madder Bomber) and the Ogre cards as effectively being a severe nerf of stealth. NOT the spare parts.

You clearly don't understand how Thalnos is supposed to be played. No player plays him expecting him to survive the opponent's next turn, and definitely no player with half a brain would play him on turn two (even if he is the only 2-drop you have). You play him immediately before you cast a spell (or two or three), and then let him die the next turn. The benefit of Thalnos is that he is cheap enough that you can cast a few spells on the same turn you play him. Kobold Geomancer has this advantage too, but he doesn't replace himself. Essentially the free card draw is why Thalnos is a legendary.
In fact, Thalnos is so useful that he was the first legendary I crafted (the only other one being Sylvannas). He has a place in decks that rely heavily on spell damage (e.g. Rogue, Mage, Shaman).

I usually spend all my gold on packs except for 450 which I save for Arena runs.

To those saying "He's only good because it's Arena" - why do people treat Arena as if it were not part of the game? Arena is half of the game (some people, like me, play Arena more than Constructed) so if he is good there, then he's good enough. There are plenty of legendaries that suck in BOTH Arena and Constructed.
1
I'm on my 11th win in Arena as priest; the last three opponents I met were all mages. One had so many Fireballs (at least 4) it was not funny (that mage handed me my second loss).
Sure, mages might have become less consistent, but if you as a mage get a decent draft, you can easily overpower other classes who get decent drafts (relative to their class). That's why there are so many mages at higher levels.

Why not? One anti-secret minion doesn't mean secrets become unplayable. I'm sure people will find plenty of ways to synergize secrets with the new cards.

^Exactly. This is not Lake Wobegon where all the kids are above average. In order to decide whether a card is good, you have to compare it with other cards (e.g. you can't know whether a 4/5 for 4 mana is good value unless you compare it with other 4 mana cards). So obviously for there to be good cards, there have to be bad cards, because it is in the end all relative.

So you are paying 3 extra mana in overload for four Murloc cards which will likely synergise with each other. Sounds like decent value to me. People are just whining because somehow the mention of Murlocs invokes knee-jerk scorn and ridicule. Also they are probably influenced by the awesome class legendaries that Warlock, Warrior and Hunter got and this looks average in comparison. But people need to realise that not every legendary can be above average; just because Neptulon isn't AMAZING doesn't mean it is horrible. Save that for real stinkers like the Flame Leviathan is arguably worse than a vanilla War Golem.
