Resurrect effects should summon a copy of the minion that was summoned. This will make it much more manageable to play against while not killing the archetype.
While I do agree that Barnes is very poor card design, I can honestly be patient considering that, at least at the higher ranks, there aren't that many Big Priests. At least that's the case for the EU.
Personally the only way I would change Barnes would be with how the resurrection mechanic is coded. Essentially, not the card itself.
However, I guess the more linear and effective way would be to bump him up to 5 mana.
What? Whole Wild Meta is dominated by those, even in EU. Define higher ranks. 10-5 is not high.
I can attest, at ranks 5 and above in EU, there's next to no big priests. There's way, way too many kingsbane rogues up here and anyone attempting to play the deck would get farmed. If you really hate the deck, just play kingsbane rogue. It's an auto win
Every deck has weakness but big priest has no weakness. Let me tell you the game that I tried to counter big priest. I used 2*entomb and 2*mind control and even shadow visions against big priest and I lost the game with that cards. What do you think about "specially designed big priest counter" can not counter big priest, is this normal?
That's absolutely not how you beat big priest with priest. Inner fire should do fine but if you're stubborn on a control archetype, you should use potion of madness and possibly shrink effects with cabal. MC does nothing in well... pretty much any wild matchup these days
Personally, I feel like Barnes is not the problem. If he only summoned a 1/1, I don't think he would be all that bad to play against... To me, the problem is all the resurrection effects. If Resurrect, Eternal Servitude, and the Lesser Diamond Spellstone all resurrected the 1/1 token from Barnes or the 5/5 token from Shadow Essence instead of the full minion like they do now, I don't think the deck would be a problem at all.
I don't play big priest but I would think aggro or even shaman would eat it for lunch. What are the worst matchups for big priest?
I hate big priest as a Renolock player, but I will admit my most favorite wins are when I beat that stupid deck. Mainly because for me to beat it I generally have to go through the entire priest deck, so you can imagine those games. Most skill-involving games on my end.
Even aggro shamman does eat big pries for lunch, odd rogue may be a 50/50 but can usually close the game before a big turn, the big priest would have to highroll a lich king to win against a hyper aggro deck like odd rogue, and anything running a transform effect or a simple Cornered Sentry screws big priest's resurrection pool pretty badly
Speaking as a Big Priest player, I can say that the deck can be absolutely wrecked by aggro and early mid range. It is meant to beat other control decks, that's the whole reason for it. That's how the game is, certain decks are designed to beat others, while others are meant to beat those decks.
Add to that the chances of not drawing Barnes and even other control decks can get ahead of it if it doesn't Shadow Essence by turn 6. Not to mention the deck gets absolutely destroyed by kingsbane rogue.
The deck absolutely has its weaknesses, and there are other decks in tier 1 wild that can absolutely run rampant on big priest if it gets the chance. Heres just a few. Odd Rogue, Kingsbane Rogue, Even Shaman,Shuderwock Shaman, Combo Druid, Maly Druid, Evenlock, and Cube/Controllock all have an honest match up against the deck and can take Big Priest down, I have seen it happen to myself even in matches where i turn 4'd the Barnes.
In a meta where Shudderwock, Bloodreaver Guldan, Kingsbane, and other very powerful single card effects exist, Big Priest and its high roll nature is just another deck where a single copy of a card defines the deck. If Blizz wants to nerf Shudderwock, Bloodreaver, Kingsbane and the others, I would be all for a Barnes nerf. As it is, the high roll nature and its weakness to aggro/midrange and other "OP" control cards is enough to keep it in check.
Also, this quote "when no one ever talks about Barnes getting resurrected, pulled out of the deck with ysharaj, or shadow essenced - all much more likely to happen than turn 4 Barnes!!!!"

I just started playing Renolock and I have no idea why people think Barnes is a problem. I had about 3-4 games against Big Priest at Rank 7 today and I managed to beat most of them. I got destroyed by one that pulled Y'Shaarj out of Barnes on turn 3 which can be frustrating, but the other ones couldn't do anything as soon as turn 6 passed because of Kazakus, Sylvanas etc. Hell I even beat one by playing Voidcaller on turn 3 with Mal'Ganis, top decking Voidlord, playing Zola on the Voidcaller and playing another Voidcaller, killing them both off a few turns later, pretty much winning because I was luckier that game. So personally, my opinion hasn't changed about Big Priest, while I think it's boring as hell to play against, it's far better than Kingsbane which is pretty much auto-lose if you play Control decks.
It's the manner in which the deck functions that is totally out of order, I always hated it, it's right up there with pirate warrior and undertaker hunter as the most annoying decks of all time to play against, or even play as...I really have no clue how someone can enjoy piloting a deck like it, it turns hearthstone into a cow-clicker. Barnes himself was actually a cool card, it's shame they had to print so many stupid low cost revive spells for priest that abuse him.
I'm not sure how they go about nerfing it, I don't really care how, I just know it deserves it.
The deck is super high roll and the odds of getting a minion on the board before turn 6 is like 50/50. Getting Barnes on turn 4 is pretty unlikely. On top of that hitting Barnes with shadow essence happens a lot. I know it can get annoying when the game just goes their way but, news flash, every deck has a win condition. This isn't limited to big priest.

how many decks do you know that can win instantly at turn 4 and can pressure you with waves on waves of op minions for every turn? This deck kills aggro, midrange, and control/otk decks. No one deck should be that dominant, only shaman really stands a chance with its transform removal, mage kinda but has limited resources.

Go play Big Priest at Rank 5 or higher and see how "easy" it is to climb with a 55% win-rate lol

It doesn't kills aggro and midrange and it doesn't sometimes even kill a control or combo. You have no clue what you are talking about sir.
I will say that I have conceded against a turn 4 Barnes into Obsidian Statue while playing an aggressive deck! :D
Just like .... no time for that bollocks! :p

I think changing barnes so it has a same effect but the minion it summons counts as just a plain 1/1 when you resurect it. This way you still benefit from having big minions in your deck but it ocnsiderably slows down big priest gameplan making matchups a lot less polarizing.
I remember playing big priest when it was in standard. I could never high roll well enough to climb because my luck absolutely sucks. But, the 1 in 20 games that I actually got Barnes into y'shaarj and my opponent would always emote, emote, emote then rope me out. Made me feel bad for them even though I had a losing winrate and only got the combo once every blue moon. But i know where you are coming from. Seems they get the nuts every time I que into them

Yet one of his most unfavourble matchups is Odd Rogue and Alunethg Mage :P I agree that it might highroll, but it's not so extremely highroll as everyone are desrcibing it to be. Don't get me wrong this deck can be annoying sometimes but is nowhere to deserve nerf as long as other strong and op decks exist.
Which rogue deck do you suggest? Miracle Rogue or Odd Rogue?
