Still a lot of crying about Gadgetzan when it hasn't released yet. wait to see what the meta looks like 3-4 weeks after release with what different ideas people come up with. Some are fairly predictable; however, they did squeeze a lot of pirates out at the end. I wonder what decks will truly change/come to life with the cards. Mage seems mostly forgotten... apparently their base set is too strong to give them anything aside "use one of each card" decks (reno styling).
The biggest problem I have with this set, and with the Dean Ayala interview, is that Blizzard is just refusing to print cards to deal with the problems at hand as opposed to introducing mechanics that no one will use. Look at Warlock, there isn't a single playable card for Zoo in the set and nothing to create a Control Warlock deck to compensate for the Magma Giant nerf. We get a 7 mana Demon that is worse than a Baaron Armageddon, a 6 mana board sweeper that is extremely risky vs aggro and at most we get a Kabal Legendary to make Reno Jackson decks suck a little less at the 5 mana point when they're desperate for point removal to replace Dark Bomb. Meanwhile Shaman get an entirely new archetype with Jade Chieftan, Jade Lightning and Jade Claws, several playable 4 mana cards to fill their curve, premium removal and a Discover card and wont even bother to play with any of them because the current MIdrange Shaman deck is completely ridiculous. I never thought a standard rotation, nerfs, 2 expansion and an adventure would make me long for the days of the Secret Paladin era.
Why are people unable to accept that decks will have weaknesses that aren't going to be patched? You aren't supposed to play the same deck day in day out expansion in expansion out.
Blizzard (or more specifically Team5) has an extremely narrow tunnelvision and is just unable to gauge the gamestate and community. Look at Purify, they actually believed their "gonna print some shit cards!" attitude was still okay despite everyone else praying and yelling otherwise.
Then when they saw the uproar they were all "oh shit! really?" and woke the fuck up. Only to fall asleep right off immediately after.

I'm sorry, but when Shamans get every thing you could possibly ask for to the point where Blizzard continues to print good cards for them that won't even see play because they're already so spoiled and you can't even get a basic removal option for a Control Warlock archetype that was pre-emptively nerfed before the format released and what's left is headed for rotation it really pisses you off. Rogues at least get to cling onto relevance by being a Control foil, while Warlocks have to play the same hodge podge aggro decks forever, gets nothing for that archetype in the recent expansion and has a ton of control cards added to the format to throw salt into the wound. You say we're not supposed to play the same deck day in and day out from expansion to expansion, but that is the only thing Warlock can do. All of these expansions, adventures and formats later and the class is worse off now than it was at launch ... fucking come on.
What I really don't like in this expansion are mostly unflavorful legendaries. Not a single neutral cool legendary. Madam Goya: a 6 mana 4/3 Panda woman. WOOOOAAAAAHHHHH. Wrathion: a 6 mana 4/5 Taunt draw 1 or 2 cards that could be a dragon, but chose to be human form. WOOOOOOOOOAAAAAHHHHH Sergeant Sally: a 3 mana 1/1 boardclear Angry girl gnome. WOOOOOOAAAAAHHHHHH Hobart Grapplehammer: The lazily drawn twin of Grimestreet Outfitter 2 mana 2/2. Can you feel the Warrior flavour? WOOOOOOAAAHHH (Madder Bomber looks like the Goblin God in comparison)
I could go on, but I'll continue my angry rant with a South Park quote: TIMMY! TIMMYYYYY! TIMMMEEEEEEEHHHHHH!

Remember playing Control Shaman with Reincarnate shenanigans? No? It was fun, here's a refresher!
Yeah, Druids are immune to Fatigue and that will help a lot in control matchup, but I don't think they'll be the king of control. They're removal is awful and other control decks have very powerful minions that have to be removed or else they win. Another thing about the Jade Idol is that it only summons vanilla minions. They don't have any impact other then having big stats. Yeah having a 1 mana 12/12 is nice but how is it going to save you from the 10 attack Grom on board?

Madam Goya is a member of the black market auction house to which players interact with for items. "Everyone has a price" and her sending a minion away and bringing another one back, suggests that she takes part in human trafficking.
Wrathion I don't know, but at least card draw and hoarding a big hand is in theme with how Dragons are usually depicted as treasure hoarders.
Sergeant Sally is a gnomish Death Knight, hence the glowing blue eyes, and will stop at nothing, even her own undoing, to defeat those who oppose her, if you would bother to have watched her reveal video, she is not even apart of gadgetzan's police force, and instead some form of vigilante
Hobart is a schematic dealer in gadgetzan, and his legendary implies that the schematics augment your existing weapons to be stronger. Also, complaining that goblins all look alike is like complaining that all tauren look alike, or all humans look alike. Just because you can't see the differences doesn't mean there are none.
For someone who appears to care about flavour and lore you really don't do any research.
Lore? Who ever spoke about lore? I'm basically talking about flashy stuff. Get that Timmy reference. Why would I prefer a human trafficking panda on a blue background 6 mana 4/3 to a 8/8 useless badass awesome dragon that loses me the game when I have bad connection? Or a goblin with a sheet in front of him. What's so special about THAT Goblin, what looks legendary about him? Dr. Boom has legendary looks. Gazlowe has looks too. A legendary card needs to look unique. Patches the Pirate is an extremely boring card to me, but at least you give him credit for being Patches. Only Patches looks like Patches and does what Patches does. Sally? Gnome Death Knight is a glorified good version of Explosive Sheep. Madam Goya has a unique effect, but compare it to Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound . Goya is perhaps even more playable. But cooler? Never. (Played Y'Shaarj a lot in constructed to safely state this)
Old Gods Neutral legendaries were AWESOME. With the mafia/gang theme much more could have been done. Could there have been better legendary feats for Warrior? Like some Legendary badass mercenary? A Bounty Hunter? Definetely.
Anub'arak, Mogor the Ogre and The Skeleton Knight are good example of legendaries. Useless/really gimmicky, not all cards need to be OP, but they have legendary vibe (and they all bring their coolness the rare times you manage to get them work)!
I'm not saying this expansion is terrible. I'm stating what I personally didn't like about it. If you find the concept of a Death Knight gnome, or a fuckin Ninja murloc to be the most awesome things ever, that is good for you! People are different.

Remember playing Control Shaman with Reincarnate shenanigans? No? It was fun, here's a refresher!
It kinda bugs me that the only class legendary that exists in WoW is Hobart Grapplehammer... and they make him a blacksmith instead of a crazy inventor like in WoW. I'd have prefered another anonymous legendary, and yes, make it some sort of tough gangster (P.D.: How is it that there has'nt been a single reference to Al Capone? I'm putting this in my Warboss class). Or make Hobart a neutral legendary (with a wacky effect), and give some other guy to warrior (that Shark Guy with the same effect?).
Many of the legendaries feel also like having the need of a better image. Madam Goya could have been more, Wrathion had amazing art and could use some more coolness or mystery... and Noggenfogger is uninspiring as heck. Other cards, like Luckydo Bucaneer, however, are amazing, so at least we have that going for us... and the demon pirate is cool.
P.D.: The only reason why Wrathion always appears as a human is because in dragon form is just a Whelp. So we better keep him as human, because in human form at least has coolness.
Paladin has seen success with many archetypes over the years. Midrange, aggro, secret, N'Zoth and Anyfin all play really differently. I don't think the existence of a goon deck will affect the viability of any of the currently decent control alternatives. I think it's good to have options.
Rogue is screwed and always has been, with Miracle being their only good deck since forever. No argument there, but it's not exactly a Gadgetzan issue.
The hold mechanic seems okay to me. It's certainly more interesting than face/burn and zoo-style decks where the most interesting card is just a big ball of stats. Simple mechanics aren't bad, there are still people who are beginners at HS, and they should have simple decks to start out with.
Jade Idol is not an autowin against decks that go to fatigue. It's good, yes, but not broken in that sense. When you reach fatigue and enter topdeck mode, you will be doing one turn shuffle 3 idols, two turns play a big guy, repeat. That is not going to cut it when the opponent still has removal and can out-tempo your single big dudes, or overwhelm you with N'Zoth, or OTK you with Anyfin, etc. The decks this card counters is fatigue/mill decks, not control in general. Also, I have a feeling that your other Jade cards will be enough to outvalue most control decks, with or without the idol.
The problem with not having class OP rotations is that instead you may get classes that are stuck being mediocre. People may be worried that Priest is becoming overcompensated now, but there would be an even bigger outcry if they got just okay cards. It takes a big boost for a never-played class to become good again, and it's easy to overshoot, but more importantly it would be a disaster if the buffs weren't enough and the class still sees no play. Hitting that sweet spot is hard, really hard.
Jade Idol makes it nearly impossible to play anyother Control besides RenoLock. What you don;t get is that people keep pumping out huge minions which you must use removal on with your limited deck slots because you had to tech in weapon removal (Pirate Warrior) you have to be able to beat Dragon Priest and Renolock. Control Warlock and Priests have always had highly favourable matchup against Control Warrior. This Makes Control Warrior impossible to beat 3/4 top decks rn and still have about a 55% chance to win against Pirate warrior. The meta has become matchup roulette and it's impossible to play certain Classes (Paladin, Hunter) and this is a fundemental flaw in the game. You shouldn't be unable to play a class because no matter what deck you make all top tier classes can beat you ez. Blizzard needs to stop adding more cards and start fixing Hearthstone fundemental problems and actually take a look at probaly the most cancerous meta of HS history.

But they ALWAYS make bad legendaries at least the ones in this expansion are interesting
Im disappointed that the most stale class (mage) gets cards only for the Reno version..
Why I hate this expansion :
What I like in this expansion :
Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.

"Jade Idol is OP because Druid will never lose fatigue."
How many games go to fatigue right now?
Yeah that's what I thought.

I hate that Blizzard clearly values Curvestone above all else and the impact that has on the future of the game.
A mechanic like Golem clearly rewards just playing on curve. The more you play on curve the better. Dragon Priest will also be a curve deck.
It's a boring, predictable and skillless way to play Hearthstone and it seems to be the present and future of the game.
No reason to bump this as it is a thread from pre-release time. If you wish to discuss this, please make a thread that is more up to date or relevant.
