Tempostorm recently released his first Standard Meta Snapshot and I thought that it would maybe be nice to discuss it, since there are many interesting things there.
The first thing that strikes me is that nine classes are represented in the top 10 (with 2 shamans).
Also, the type of decks is kinda equilibrate:
Agro Agro Combo Control Combo/Midrange Midrange/Agro Midrange Control Midrange Midrange
I'm not sure that this MS exactly corresponds to Eu. We would certainly have C'thun/Tempo Warrior instead of Patron, tempo mage instead of freeze mage, N'Zoth paladin above Miracle Rogue, ramp/midrange druid above C'thun druid also…
I think Blizzard did a good job with their 2 last expansions (LoE+WotoG).
Quick discussion of tier1 Agro Shaman is quite frustrating and I cannot understand why they decided a card like Flamewreathed Faceless while giving Shaman an excellently designed Master of Evolution but this deck isn't totally out of control like Secret Paladin and Combo druid (or Undertaker Hunter before) used to be. The deck also benefits from the absence of Sludge Belcher, Antique Healbot, Zombie Chow andDeathlord. Face Sham is likely to be "the" agro deck for a while. I don't think it's peculiarly healthy to have a smorc deck as #1 deck but like i said, it's not like this deck is extremely above the other decks. We can tech against it and even if the strategy he created revolves around finishing your opponent in one turn without any cards on the board, it still relies on things we can counter. Also, zoolock is very strong and maybe giving 5 health to its Darkshire Councilman wasn't exactly a brilliant idea… Possessed Villager and Forbidden Ritual gives zoolock really good tools without being brainless and overpowered tools. Zoolock is a headache for many decks and can get a good winrate against quite every decks, even supposed counters. Miracle Rogue is as consistent as it is hard to play it well, but I think that the deck is a little bit easier to play than Oil Rogue. I am not a Rogue expert but I'm glad to see Rogue high in the ranking (that also proves that Rogue players were wrong to complain that much). N'Zoth Paladin is in my opinion a problematic deck. This deck basically denies any possibility to win to many decks. And is in the same time quite weak against some. The existence of this deck discourages some archetypes (zoo/midrange/controle) and encourages some (SMOrc/Burst). I think the existence of this deck alone justifies to play SMOrc Shaman over Midrange Shaman…
[About Priest: yeah I still think Priest got exactly 0 playable card. It does not mean they got no good card, it means they got nothing good enough to really be competitive… N'Zoth Priest is just a joke when you see N'Zoth Paladin, C'thun Priest is a joke when you compare with C'thun Warrior or Druid, Control Priest is… quite ok but still lack the consistency Lightbomb gave. Dragon Priest (#10 in the ranking) is a good deck but almost stayed the same deck.]
I disagree especially on the lower tiers. I feel like some decks like Tempo Mage is really strong right now, face hunter is not a thing anymore, Malygos rogue seems overrated, and so on.
I very strongly disagree with their assessment of Aggro Shaman. I find it strictly inferior to his Midrange counterpart and easy to counter. I'd bump it down around Freeze Mage or Midrange Hunter and bump everything else one step up, which would conveniently put Patron in tier 1, where I feel it belongs.
Zoo is clearly the deck to beat right now - it's the fun police of the format, much more than Aggro Shaman.

I agree that aggro shaman is overrated, I've definitely seen a lot more mr shamans this week too. (US)
i disagree about zoo though. This is the most overrated deck in the game to me. Over the last week I haven't lost a single game to this new weenie zoo. This could be that I play classes and decks that counter it well but I generally play all classes. It might also be that I just don't personally like this new version of zoo so I might be negatively biased against it.
It goes to show you how inexact a science ranking decks is this early in the xpac. I think it's more opinion than science at this point.
I also don't ever remember a snapshot that I disagreed with more. Tempo warrior should be rated higher, c'thun druid lower, I already mentioned the shamans in my previous post as well as zoo. They were all over the place as far as I got but before I could even finish the whole thing the site seemed to crash so I'll have to check back. As I mentioned before though, the meta is still in flux so I'll definitely give them a pass on the first rankings of standard. It's just too early to have any hard data so everyone's rankings will be personal and purely opinion for awhile.
This is the first ever standard format meta analysis. The article states that you should take all of the matchup percentages with a grain of salt. The met has not completely settled yet, so new decks are popping up, and some are also fading out of popularity. Tempo Storm did not publish this in order to tell you which decks are the best. It is simply to show which decks are trending as of now. Things will change a lot in the coming weeks and maybe even months and Tempo Storm understands that.
N'zoth Priest is a joke, compared to N'zoth Paladin? I think that someone got that all backwards, right? The way i see it, N'zoth Priest is the far superior deck archetype in the clash between these two decks, based solely on the sheer power of Entomb, which placed on the right target, can make Paladin's N'zoth turn quite flaccid.
Furthermore, Priest has so much effective boardclears such as Excavated evil, Auchenai + Circle, Pyro + whatever cheap spell shenanigans, that can literally stomp the T1 Zoo deck. I think Priest has been hugely underrated, or maybe people just haven't experimented enough with the class in the current meta. (Not to mention the shadow words, like sw: death that can easily deal with the shaman's dr. 4).

Those cards, In the head to head matchup, are more or less irrelevant, compared to Priest's Entomb, which singlehandedly shuts down their win condition. Have you ever faced a decent control Priest player as a N'zoth Paladin? From my experience on ladder, playing both N'zoth decks, Priests are heavily favoured, unless ridiculously shitty draws, or going full retard.
I don't see buff paladin on the list but it crushes 8 of these decks including 2 tier 1 decks.
Just no. I compare the deck to egg druid, in the sense that it is the kind of deck that either draws perfectly and just wins the game on the spot or just doesn't and gets destroyed by 90% of decks. And I have played fucktons of aggro pally before tgt at legend, so i'm rather sure it has nothing to do with how I play the deck.
yea im not sure why freeze is considered highest mage right now. got to rank 6 pretty comfortably with tempo and even my dragon mage made it to rank 6 this month..
Some decks aren't refined so it's not the best tier list..
Zoo IS NOT AGGRO stop calling it aggro!! It's a tempo/ midrange deck..
Zoo is definatally aggro. Nobody can argue with that. It isn't even much of a tempo deck.
Zoo aims to end the game quickly, although they do trade it doesn't mean its not aggro. Zoo trades up and tries to build a board fast to overpower your opponent, using your hero power to constantly refill. The name "zoo" comes from the zoo deck in magic the gathering, which is an excellent example of an aggro deck. People don't realize the truth, zoo is AGGRO not control, not midrange, not tempo (although it has some tempo elements)

And you what do you think about it?
AT LAST

I kinda agree on tier 1 decks
The end is coming!

Release the Kraken!
Dragon Warrior is still crying in a corner, waiting for senpai to notice him.
yea im not sure why freeze is considered highest mage right now. got to rank 6 pretty comfortably with tempo and even my dragon mage made it to rank 6 this month..
lol have you even seen the cards for this "standard" list? Why are you even discussing such a joke meta snapshot
Woah, Reynoodle & Co. drank too much Corona.
Seeing C'Thun warrior so low on the list makes me sad. It's by far the best C'Thun deck and that shitty druid is considered tier 2? ASTONISHING!
Shouldn't the data be based on actual positions of the played decks -- and thus be an observed fact, subject to change, rather than opinion..?
Oh that's why I see those 4 decks all the time..
Some decks aren't refined so it's not the best tier list..
Zoo IS NOT AGGRO stop calling it aggro!! It's a tempo/ midrange deck..
How about dragon paladin? I've been playing Kibler's list for a few days and it's been working quite nicely so far.
Tempo storm is a joke.
