[Legend #6] - Jade Elemental Shaman Guide
"The Elements will destroy you"
Zananananan here (https://twitter.com/Zanananan, https://www.twitch.tv/zanananan). I just wanted to share this Jade Elemental Shaman with you. The Caverns Below got nerfed a few hours ago and Jade Spirit turned into an Elemental. I built this deck and hit Legend #6 with it. This list is obviously not refined yet, I'll keep updating it.
I'm Florian 'Zananananan' Marschner, 18 years old and a German Hearthstone player for PENTA Sports. I've been playing Hearthstone for almost 2 years now, I started tryharding competitively in 2017.
I offer coachings for 20,00 €/hour. If you are interested, please leave me a message on Skype (flo.marschner@gmail.com) or Hearthpwn. (2nd hour 15 €, 3rd hour 10 €)

1. Proof
2. General Strategy
Your want to get on board early. In the mid- to late game, you want try and find Bloodlust so that you can kill your opponent.
Double Mana Tide Totem tries to ensure a steady stream of minions. Flametongue Totem is another card that benefits very much from making a big board, since you can usually trade in your minions that are not so useful and get value. Stonehill Defender helps in slower Matchups,
3. Placement
Placement is key, it can win or lose you the game. You always want to maximize the efficiency of Flametongue Totem.
- You usually want big minions, minions with deathrattle or taunt on the side and small minions in the middle.
4. General Mulligan
If you don't have the coin and you don't have a 1 drop throw everything away, it's in most matchups key to have a turn 1 play
- Keep Maelstrom Portal against aggro
It's a good board clear
- Keep Flametongue Totem against non aggro decks if you have a 1 drop
Allows value trades and forces your opponent to have an answer
- Mana Tide Totem in slower matchups
You win if they can't deal with it
5. Class Specific Mulligan + Tips
Aggro Druid
favored - You want your 1 drops, Jade Claws, Maelstrom Portal and Devolve. You can play 2x Devolve if you want to improve this matchup.
Always clear their stuff to play around Mark of the Lotus, Power of the Wild and Mark of Y'Shaarj.
Jade Druid
favored - Mana Tide Totem is insane. Flametongue Totem is good as well.
It's pretty straight forward, a lot has to go wrong for you to lose. Cards to play around are Swipe and Primordial Drake. It's expensive for them to Wrath or Feral Rage a Mana Tide Totem. You both used a card and you drew one.
Miracle Rogue
slightly favored - I like keeping Devolve if they have The Coin.
Deals with Edwin VanCleef and Questing Adventurer. They don't have a good board clear except Bloodmage Thalnos + Fan of Knives.
Günther Mage
unfavored - Keep Mana Tide Totem.
You should keep Volcanic Potion, Flamestrike, Frostbolt and Medivh's Valet in mind. Sometimes you can't even play around it. Save Kalimos, Primal Lord for heal, they'll try to burn you at some point.
Secret Mage
slightly favored - Early game is very important.
They don't have an AOE and Mirror Entity is pretty much useless.
Murloc Paladin
favored - 1 drops and Jade Claws are key. Devolve is also really good. I like keeping Jade Lightning if you have The Coin and a good hand, it deals with Murloc Warleader.
Always try to clear his Murlocs, you don't want them to get a huge swing turn with Murloc Warleader or Gentle Megasaur. Save Hex or Devolve for Spikeridged Steed and Tirion Fordring.
Truesilver Champion, Rallying Blade and Consecration are cards to play around. Against the Midrange version: They have Primordial Drake in hand if they played The Curator. Make sure to not overextend into Equality + Consecration.
Control Paladin
slightly favored - Mana Tide Totem is a keep.
Play around Equality + Consecration or Wild Pyromancer. Save Hex and Devolve for Tirion Fordring and Cairne Bloodhoof if they are playing the N'Zoth the Corruptor version.
Pirate Warrior
favored - Bloodsail Corsair is insane. Maelstrom Portal, Jade Claws and Devolve are good. Jade Lightning is good if you have a good hand, it deals with Frothing Berserker and Bloodsail Cultist.
It's pretty straight forward, try to deal with their board and survive.
Taunt Warrior
unfavored - Mana Tide Totem is important.
Devolve or Hex on an Acolyte of Pain is very good, you want to deny card draw. Brawl, Ravaging Ghoul + Sleep with the Fishes and Primordial Drake are annoying.
Evolve Shaman
slightly favored - Jade Claws and Bloodsail Corsair are key. Devolve and Maelstrom Portalare also fine.
Always try to clear his minions to play around Evolve and Bloodlust. Your deck has more late game, you should win in the long run. The AOE from Kalimos, Primal Lord is really powerful.
Control Shaman
unfavored - Mana Tide Totem is good.
You don't want to play this matchup. Volcano destroys you, a few lists are even running Lightning Storm.
Midrange Hunter
favored - Fire Fly, Bloodsail Corsair, Jade Claws, Devolve and Maelstrom Portal.
Try to not give them beast synergy with Crackling Razormaw and Houndmaster. Devolve is really good against buffs or Savannah Highmane.
Silence Priest
heavily favored - Devolve and Hex destroys them.
Those cards are good against buffed minions and Faceless Shambler. They usually don't run AOE or Shadow Word: Pain. Flametongue Totem and Mana Tide Totem are good if you have board.
Make sure that they don't OTK you with Divine Spirit and Inner Fire later on. Clear his Ancient Watcher or Humongous Razorleaf even if they didn't silence it or play a Taunt.
Control Priest
favored - Mana Tide Totem is good.
Play around Dragonfire PotionCard Name and you should be fine.
Warlock doesn't exist.
6. Questions
How does your Coaching work?
First of all I'll ask you a few questions, e.g. What was your highest rank so far? What are your goals? Then we'll start playing some games. I'll talk about the specific matchup and the gameplan. You'll suggest a play and then we'll talk about the reasoning behind it. We'll also talk about reading the opponent's hand and when you have to take risks.
Ask me a question in the comment section and I'll answer it here.
7. Possible Replacements
+1 Bloodlust
Against Midrange and Control
+1 Devolve
Against Aggro
-1 Maelstrom Portal +1 Spirit Echo
Against Control
Thank you very much! Got me to Legend this morning for the first time ever!
I feel like Hex is one of the best cards in the game because it deals with deathrattle, divine shield, and etc and it costs 3, how do you manage to deal with huge threats without it?
1 devolve and no hex how you deal with threats or gain the board back?
I was thinking to replace Primalfin Totem with another devolve and a hex
What should you replace Primalfin totem and kalimos with.
A different deck
Portions of the description are copy-pasted from Tempo Storm's description of Token Shaman in the Meta Snapshot. You should at least give credit.
Not making Kalimos for this deck.... not worth it as its not a very good elemental deck more a jade deck. I swapped jade chieftain for em.
Props thanks for sharing this deck. I'm fairly new to Hearthstone and just start trying to ladder. I've made a lot of progress using it. It's not without it's bad match ups, but you can also find that it runs over many more decks than it loses to. It's a very well balanced deck.
No offense but this isn't really an "elemental" deck, outside of Kalimos.
It runs 8 elemental cards, so yes? Almost 1/3 of the deck.
Excellently written guide, thanks for your effort!
"Save Hex or Devolve for Spikeridged Steed and Tirion Fordring." But you don't run Hex in this deck?
I'm currently Rank 2 with a very similar version, running 2x Hex rather than the 2x Primalfin Totem
That's nice and all, but I was asking why his guide references Hex so much when he doesn't run it.
Because his previous version did and he didn't update all the text.
Is that the only alterations? Interested to try a deck like this to try grind from 5 to legend
That certainly sounds like a good replacement card if you don't have all the cards listed here. And perhaps card worth experimenting with anyway.
Hey, I don't have Patches, I replaced it with Glacial Shard because I don't have dust to get patches. is that a decent replacement or do you have something else in mind? was thinking a tech card like Hungry Crab or Golakka Crawler ??
i think patches here for value traiding with flametongue totem (or just early pressue), but glacial actually dont give any of this things. In my opinion, its fine to take more tech/tempo cards based on what gives you the most problems (pirates or murlocs). Maybe its a good idea to take out Bloodsail Corsair at all and take better early game options, becouse without patches corsair not that strong
