Shipmen posted a message on Secret passagePosted in: Card DiscussionQuote from samuellima91 >>The Soularium is legendary with way worse effect and is game breaking in several decks...
Thank you for remembering that. The Soularium was a card that saw a lot of play in Zoolock. It couldn't be played alongside expensive cards because of its drawback but Zoo only played cheap cards anyway. If Secret Passage drew 3 cards, it would still be a stronger version of The Soularium because it has no drawbacks whatsoever. And they can use two copies of it. Also, card draw is supposed to be one of the weaknesses of decks that carelessly throw cards away (face decks). They are supposed to run out of steam but this card denies this. Instead, they are rewarded for just throwing everything at you because this card will always find what they need to close the game. How is this supposed to be balanced?
Secret Passage in my opinion is not a problematic card. I personally love this card.
I agree with this guy.
Every class has stuff that someone, somewhere is going to hate. Why can't we all just stop complaining and enjoy things?

Everything your opponent does that puts them ahead in the game or sets up lethal is not fun. You feel powerless to stop it, it's a bad feeling, but it's part of the game. That's how games are won and lost, at some point you or your opponent will make a play that can't be answered and it will create the inevitable outcome. If Secret Passage is that card, you might think it's too strong. But think about that time you set up lethal on your opponent. They might have cursed the last card you played as "too strong". But is it?
Let's deal with it and move on.
Yes, people hating a card isn't an indicator that it is broken but the inverse is also true. Just because you like it that doesn't mean it's balanced. Now, let's make a comparison. Fungal Fortunes was a 2 mana draw 3 cards with a drawback and it got nerfed. And what people hated in Spell Druid wasn't this early game cycle tool but the Kael'thas and Mountseller turns. Now, tell me how a 1 mana draw 5 cards without any drawbacks that rewards careless and thoughtless gameplay is balanced.
Sure that it is a strong card, very strong no doubt. But It is also a fair card in rogue. Rogue has no heal, no taunt, no board clears, and its play style is only based on tempo generally. So having a card that allow him to not die for inconsistency, (quite unfair in a rogue class, since he should be able to draw, because it is one of his strongest points) it is fair.
It is a very strong card and fair.

suchti352 posted a message on Shaman drawPosted in: General Discussion"
Shaman: Shamans wield the power of the elements along with their trusty totems. While they may not be able to generate resources as quickly as a Mage, they are able to overload their Mana Crystals with lightning, allowing them to ramp up for a burst of power faster than other classes. Shamans are thus rewarded for planning a few turns ahead by tuning their mana curve. Shamans also have strong tools to adapt to many situations. Although they are not as versatile as a Druid’s Choose One cards, they are able to extend their capabilities in ways other classes might not be able to.
- Strengths: Minion swarms, damage spells, Totems, Elementals, Murlocs
- Weaknesses: Card draw, card generation"

CalvoMann posted a message on Should I buy Galakrond's Awakening right now?Posted in: General DiscussionQuote from UltraJeeves >>I'm leaning towards getting it even though the cards will rotate out of standard in April next year. But not in any rush either - none of the cards seem central to the classes I've been playing since SA launched. Might be something for September or October weekends.
Do as you prefer. Just avoid buying by impulse.

What cards do you need from it exactly? Other than Risky Skipper there's really nothing there that sees play in current meta decks.
Frenzied Felwing is really good in any aggro deck and Rotnest Drake is op in any hunter deck with dragons. But they're not worth the price if you are looking into meta decks.

SneakyRogue posted a message on Which legendaries and epics to craft once the SA meta has settled?Posted in: Card DiscussionPutting Mue aside, I think the safest of the safe crafts are Lorekeeper Polkelt (tons of decks), Janice Barov (Rogue and Mage seem to be constantly at least somewhere above tier 3), Sphere of Sapience (again tons of decks), Lord Barov, and maybe Ras Frostwhisper.
To be honest though bliz did a really good job this expac making sure every legendary was actually good and worth being excited about, both in wild and standard. -

Yeah, but no matter what he says DO NOT discenchant any legendaries from the latest expansion (ok maybe the Warlock one - Willow and Star Student Stelina)

Pandawan posted a message on Pre-opening of pre-ordered Scholo packs, What did YOU get? :DPosted in: General DiscussionA bit late i supposed but only got round to unpacking it.
My pre-order opening results for both bundles of 142 packs all in all are,
Free Golden Legendary (from pre order); Ras Frostwhisper
10 Legendary;
Rattlegore Golden
And rounding it up with 55 Epics with 4 being Golden, 7 Golden Rare, 13 Golden Common.
With the recent no duplicate rule, i am now only missing 1 epics types and with the 10 legendary one being golden, can say am darn happy with this pre-order pack opening.

I've found Duels fun so far. I'm much more likely to break up my Standard ladder play with a game of Duels than one of the other modes. I rarely play Arena and Battlegrounds has never appealed.
The new mode also gives me a reason to learn about the older sets. I never had much of an incentive before as I don't play Wild.
Another new game mode coming next year.

Played a couple of runs this afternoon after work. It's good fun!

In recent times I've tended to amass slightly over 8,000 gold in the 4 months leading up to a new expansion - mostly completing my dailies on ladder. While I suspect I play more than most, I doubt I'm a complete outlier or my experience is too atypical.
Releasing Darkmoon Faire 3 weeks earlier than expected means my pile will be about 1,400 gold or 14 expansion packs lighter. On the upside, we get to play the new content sooner.
Additionally, landing in the mid-diamond ranks most months nets me an additional 8 packs per month (4 SA and 4 classic packs), a sprinkling of dust and gold, and the occasional epic card. I have 5-6 Arena tickets, too, with rewards attached.
HS isn't cheap or overly generous, but I don't mind paying for a game that I play regularly and is being actively developed.
The upcoming game changes sound promising. Let's see.

Big fan of DH. Don't main it, but think it's been a great addition to the game. Limited RNG, interesting flavour and good for new or returning players.
Starting HS now is a time-intensive and/or expensive endeavour. It took me the better part of two years to get a halfway decent standard collection. DH allows newbies to play competitive decks without too much difficulty.

Picked up Headmaster Kel'Thuzad, Keymaster Alabaster and 2500ish in dust from the bundle.

There's no reason one can't be on HearthPwn, Out of Cards and Hearthstone Top Decks, is there?

First pre-release bundle I've purchased.
5 legendaries from the 85 packs: Forest Warden Omu (pack 5), Rattlegore (pack 36), Lord Barov (pack 48), Mindrender Illlucia (pack 63) and a golden Speaker Gidra (second-to-last golden pack). 19 epics.
Haven't been particularly keen on Priest, Paladin or Warrior since starting to play in early 2019, but let's see how things turn out!

Everyone gets a free legendary and 6 SA packs through quests.
