Given that they reached Legend at least once and knowing the kind of grind you need to do to achieve it, I think they earned the right to wear that card back whenever they want. I don't do it myself but I'm just saying those guys have all the right to do it.

I understand that, but imagine a guy proudly wearing his Legend card back beaten by a rank 18 (or actually being stuck near that rank) I'd be ashamed.
No - cause everyone can beat anybody - Why should anybody be ashamed if the loose wearing a legend card back?? Nobody is unbeatable - hell , Legenplayers and of course Tournament Players etc. - loose too - so i personaly would not be ashamed loosing with the legend card back!
Except that this card back is ''supposed'' to show that you're an elite and you really aren't if you're rank 18

And here I was, thinking it was an aesthetic reward for having reached Legend at least once.

I wasn't planning on going for a run today. But those cops came out of nowhere.
I feel like anyone using the legend card back at any rank is very proud of their achievement. I guess I see it as not as big of an achievement as they do, so they seem a bit pretentious. Most people I've known used it for a very short time after they got legend the first time and quickly tired of it.

I do it as an entertainment, not something serious. Hearthpwn is one of the funniest places on the internet, at least for me. ;)
Idk if legend cardback means a player is good. I would say dedicated/experienced. There are better looking cardbacks and some that are more exclusive/unique.

Not necessarily good. There are lots of terrible players with Legend card back lol, especially in Arena.
Legend card backs can increase your chance of winning games. Some players feel intimidated by Legend card backs, you can even see some people admit to it in this thread. Players that feel intimidated might concede a bit early, turning your 95% win into 100%. Or maybe they stretch their cards too far, making riskier plays than they need to. However, since Blizzard implemented the ladder changes, the Legend card backs are a bit less intimidating.
I have been playing this game for many years now, and I do not give a fuck about other players. My friendlist is empty and whether you have got a fancy card back or not is of no concern to me. BM me or add and flame me, I do not care about you..

I change cardback depending on my mood. I love to use the Lemon card back to cheer me up or the Valentine to feel lovely. I don't think lg cardback is any superior. Reaching Legend requires grinding, not skill cap. You can reach lg if you grind enough with your favorite deck.
I have just played a match at rank 5 against a player who had legend card back. He played Odd rogue and i played Deathrattle hunter.
I had Kaleseeth on the board and he had 5-2 firefly and 2/2 weapon equipped. Instead of destroying my monster with his weapon he went face with both firefly (the right move) and weapon (obviously the wrong move)
I guess it is only about grinding and time invested to reach legend after all if I play against those "legend" players who don't know how to do basic trades. At the end I won the game and it was probably because of that stupid decision.

Having the legend card back at low ranks, even if losing to low ranks, doesn't necessarily mean that they are bad players.
1) They probably earned the legend card back in an earlier version of the game, be it beta, classic, or through one of the expansions.
2) Some players reach legend just to have obtained legend and then don't care anymore. I did the grind, I got the card back. I don't care to grind out legend every month and don't have the time to devote to it like I used to. So, often times I'll be rank 25-22 each season start because I do my 5 ranked wins for the season rewards, and then don't worry about it anymore. I lose some, I win some, its really no big deal.
3) There are dozens of different card backs out there that can be obtained either through specific events, obtaining certain goals or ranks, or just completing your seasonal rewards. I've seen a lot of people using the latest card back and that just says they got 5 ranked wins last month. Doesn't say anything to their ability to play the game.
4) Personally, if I have a quest like "play 20 minions 2 or less" or "play 20 spells" or things like that, I use a trash deck and still have my legend back on. It doesn't mean I am a terrible hearthstone player, just means I wasn't really trying for a win that game.
Its natural to feel a little intimidated by a legend card back, and something like that can be enough to tip the game in that person's favor. It can also be natural to see someone play classic or standard card back (no special back applied) and get trounced because they took it easy thinking it was a newer player. In the end it comes down to how you steer your deck, how well you know how to play against other decks with it, luck of the draw, and just overall skill. Card back means nothing except bragging rights.

I don't really care. If you made it to Legend, why not flash your flair?

The Lich King
Let’s talk some more about this topic :]
reaching legend is not a big deal, specially if you do it one time just for the cardback.
being high legend at the end of season is more important (when points matter!)
