posted a message on Nerfs - The dust refund policy must be changed as it's not fair anymore

No, you don't deserve constant streams of dust for every nerf that comes into the game. No other game rewards players for changes a game makes to its coding, why you feel you are "entitled" to dust for these cards is ridiculous. You can choose to spend money or not on this game, as it is JUST A GAME. It is a free-to-play game, and you decide how you want to invest in it. You can invest time and/or money to getting the best decks in the game and all the cards and whatever else you want. If you want to grind to legend for free, you can (it has been proven). If you want to invest $200+ each expansion, you can!

If you want to compare Hearthstone to any other game, where else can you get free currency from that game just for playing, then use that currency to collect a bunch of cheap cards to trade in for one massive epic or legendary card? I'll tell you. None. Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, MTG, etc. You are going to have to pay HEFTY to get the rarest and most powerful cards/decks, or spend lots of money on expansions and hope you get lucky pulls. You aren't going to get to trade in a bunch of cards valued at $0.10 per card for that one card that would cost you $80 to complete your epic deck.

Learn to get good with discount decks until you can get the high cost ones, or don't play. Stop whining for free dust every time your "easy wins" deck gets nerfed. It's stupid to think that these cards wouldn't get nerfed as the game goes on, especially as they rotate into wild, or as new expansions come out.

"Hey guys, wouldn't it be a great idea that you can ban the center point card in a deck to make it easier to win for me?"

    No. No it would not.

posted a message on Is this the Beginning of the End?

Hearthstone has been out since 2014 and many players participated in the Beta before its official release and Blizzard has a history of games living a very long time. World of Warcraft has been out since 2006, with Warcraft series released before that (which is coming back remastered). Starcraft has been out since 1998, Diablo has been out since 1996, etc. Games like Hearthstone, Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm are all relatively new to the scene and have a lot of different ways they can take the games. They are all still very much in their infancy.

While there is some kind of upheaval going on at Blizzard right now, many assume it is because of Activision and Vivendi putting the pressure on them to increase profits, I don't foresee these games going anywhere. With that said, Trading Card Games are very easy to break. If they don't pay attention to how they distribute power within card sets, with an eye on how it also affects Wild format, they can easily "break" Hearthstone to where you can only play aggro decks in order to win. Many TCG's have seen this happen over time.

Hearthstone kind of has a set up like MTG where only the most recent cards can be used in competitive play, but cards from all sets can be played in a "wild" format, so it helps keep that "broken" feeling from entering competitive play and allows for a lot of really unique deck builds in Wild. I think Blizzard is doing well with Hearthstone, and I don't see it slowing anytime soon. They have a ton of lore they can pull from in World of Warcraft (where 90% of the cards are based from) to create numerous future sets. Yes, some ideas are going to get recycled in order to keep some kind of balance and familiarity with the standard set of cards, but I don't see them having any struggles. All of Hearthstone's income comes through micro-transactions which is where most of Activision has seen its profits come from (after purchase of game, of course) and since Hearthstone doesn't cost anything to download and play, or to continue to collect cards, it relieves that stress of feeling like you have to "buy" to stay competitive, especially since numerous streamers have proven you can go from 25 to legend (now 50 to legend) using just f2p decks.

posted a message on Will Spirit of the Dragonhawk activate Inspire cards 3 times at once?

Not having watched the stream and under complete speculation, when I read it "targets" adjacent minions, I think it means it hits the one you targeted for 1 damage (or whatever) and it also hits each of the ones next to it for 1 damage. I don't think it means you activate inspire on your cards 3 times. You are still only using your hero power once, it just "splashes" to adjacent minions.

Again, pure speculation since I didn't watch the stream, but that's my take on it.

posted a message on Opening packs change on mobile

I'm not crazy about it, but I don't open packs on mobile very often. I'll be sure to wait on December 4th with Rastakhan's Rumble releasing to do it on laptop or PC and not mobile. It may take longer to open them all, but there is that level of suspense of which to click, which might have an epic or legendary, etc. This new method, they may as well just have them all flipped over as soon as the pack bursts open. Hope they change it back for mobile users and they don't go this way with the PC.

Although, if their Diablo team is any indication on how much they pay attention to what their player base wants, I doubt they'll go back.

posted a message on Can we talk about Ranked structure?

Years ago, before Hearthstone created this new ranked structure of every 5 levels it "protects" you from losing levels. Prior to that players could get to rank one, go on a massive losing streak and end up rank 7 or 9 or 11 and have to re-earn all of those stars back. The elite players always made it to legend, this just made it a little easier for them because they could bottom out at Rank 5 and work forward again, rather than continually falling until they get into a groove.

This also has created mini "meta tiers" where ranks 20-25 will see a few primary styles of deck used, and then ranks 15-20 would see another, 10-15 another, and so forth. It also made it easier for players to climb each month as you could climb your 5 levels, be safe from falling under, and climb another 5 next month.

They also stabilized how far players fall at the end of each month. Rather than losing a subjective number of stars/levels, each player was locked to losing 4 levels from the month prior, so there was still a "grinding" component to it, but not as bad as it was previously, especially since you'd lose 5-6 levels previously (if I remember correctly) and then still could end up on a losing streak losing 3 or 4 more levels.

The ranks aren't perfectly balanced, but it offers a better spread of skill than the previous method did. Those players who don't push for a hard grind every month (like myself) end up sitting between ranks 15-25 and that is where you may feel your frustration. Highly skilled players that just don't push anymore and log in to get their quest completion and 5 ranked wins for the monthly reward and then just goof around after that.

My best advice would be to study the deck types being used, get a deck tracker to see how well your winrate is, watch streamers (Kibler, Trump, Firebat, etc.) to study their methodology, and just keep working to improve. It gets easier and before you know it your skill will jump substantially.

posted a message on Your new expansion card checklist?
    Quote from Echo_ >>

Main thing I want to see is some Weasel Tunneler type cards to just make the most annoying/garbage decks as possible. A couple ideas could be Dr. Weasel, a 3 mana 1/1 that shuffles into the opponents deck that summons weasels that also go in the opponent deck, Weasel Burrow, a 2 mana 2/2 weasel that shuffles into the opponents deck. The opportunities are honestly endless.

On a serious note though, I would be happy with just the similar stuff we've gotten earlier this year. Sure it won't impact the meta a ton, but when rotation comes in april then the meta should be in a really nice spot as long as they don't print anything busted again. I'm playing the long game here.

I like your way of thinking! Except I think if you really want to have fun with it the card would be more like, "Deathrattle: shuffle 3 "blind mole rats" into your opponent's deck."  Blind Mole rat 0 cost 0/1 minion: "Play this card as soon as it is drawn, this card cannot attack, this card is not targetable by minion abilities, hero powers or spells." It's essentially a "kill your opponent by flooding his board with crap he can't get rid of. I could see rogue's really having a good time with this style of card. Only way to kill it would be with AoE's.

posted a message on Your new expansion card checklist?

I don't really have a checklist, but it'll be nice to hopefully see the balance between the classes remain. I understand there are a couple of decks right now that are irritating and have yet to come up with reliable counters to, but for the most part you can play almost any class (except priest atm) and climb relatively well.

I would like to see priests get brought back into the fold without becoming overpowered, and druid's power level be adjusted slightly. Mostly I'd like to see decks change by more than just a card or two. The fun part about expansions is getting to play new and interesting cards and finding new and interesting combinations to play. If this expansion just ends up being 1 or 2 cards being tech'd into each deck, its going to be a big disappointment, as far as standard play goes anyway.

With wild, I can see it adding a huge variety to the card pool and continue to see some amazing deck builds and fun interactions. I'll be buying the pre-order either way, and probably dropping some dough on a bunch of packs after to polish off the collection list. Looking forward to seeing what Blizzard has come up with.

posted a message on Dwindling Fun

It's going to be difficult getting useful advice for what makes the game fun when 1) half the players are salty because they claim the meta is boring or in a terrible shape (when in reality it is the most balanced it has been since the games inception). The reality of the matter is, it is really up to the individual to determine what is fun in the game and do that. Some only play ranked play, some only play arena, some play casual, some play wild, some experiment with new and interesting decks and some use net decks. Some players are very competitive and others are more relaxed. Some players log in to complete their quests and maybe grind for their 30 wins a day and others will spend hours playing for no other reason than to play. Some people get enjoyment by plugging into Twitch and talking to people as they stream, and others will flip on Youtube, Twitch or Netflix in the background as they play.

My best advice would be to go out and experiment with what you find fun, whether it means you play for 6 hours a day, or 6 minutes a day. At the end of the day, the only one it affects is you, and no amount of people telling you to do one thing or another in threads is going to change that.

Personally, my playing of Hearthstone varies. Sometimes I log in my main account to just do quests, other days I"ll be on for 3 hours just goofing around and getting some wins (and plenty of losses too). If I start getting overly salty, I close the game down and do something else. Sometimes I log into one of my alt accounts (I recently created a new one just to rank up from 50-25 and see how Blizzard did with that section of the game for new players) and play on them for a while. When all that gets boring or I get overly salty, I log off and go play Minecraft, Halo, Fortnite or one of my other many games to choose from, or just chill and watch netflix or youtube and play some solitaire/free cell/etc.

posted a message on How do you find net decking/Home brewing ?

I use net decks 100% of the time, but if there are cards that I think aren't working in the deck I'll tech them out. In many decks (like spell hunter for example) I hate using Tracking. It always seems to pull the critical cards I need and I have to choose to throw one or more of them out. I had replaced them with cards I thought were more effective. The win rate stayed about the same and since the cards I replaced them with were late-game cards, it actually helped in those late-game pushes that I needed. Granted, this is still considered net decking, but I play for fun and don't have the time or inclination to sit down and craft my own every time.

Home brew decks are fun, as they can throw some really interesting combos at you that you weren't expecting, but I feel that net decks do a really good job of planning for nearly any instance.

posted a message on It Is The Time To Completely Remove Charge From The Game?

No, charge is not the problem. Hearthstone does need to go and update their card texts that are outdated referring to charge and rush minions or cards that give minions charge (but can't attack heroes) may as well be changed to giving minions rush. Other than that, the charge mechanic is fine. They are often times low enough health that they kill themselves off when clearing minions.

Quest rogue is broken because blizzard refuses to make it a de-spellable buff, or only affect minions in hand or deck, rather than every minion is permanently a 5/5 in a rogue deck, that only continues to get more powerful the more cards they release for it. However, as Un'Goro cycles out, so do the quests and this won't be an issue anymore except in wild format.

You can't use one deck to justify the eradication of an entire ability because you don't like when it is used against you. By itself, charge is not powerful, just like by itself Shudderwock is not powerful. It is when you combine those charge cards with other cards that make them powerful. Skilled players know how to use these to their advantage.

posted a message on Is it time for Blizzard to give us 9 more deckslots?

I don't think we necessarily need more deck slots per say, but I do think the wild and standard deck slots should be separate. Often times I rank in wild, so I have a lot of wild decks, but my friends play standard, so I have to have standard decks set aside for when we play against each other. It would be nice to have the two formats separate with deck lists as well and not shared together.
