Firing patches into your hand would actually be a great nerf I think. It keeps him unique, giving the pirate player the deck thinning ability that makes patches a legendary anyway. I hope someone from Blizzard reads that suggestion.
Every single aggro card in all decks need an extreme nerf turning that unplayable or almost unplayable.
The game lose the purpose, any card cost 7 or more, don't matter how good is, become trash because the insany speed aggro can kill you.
Patches need to lose charge, all weapons need to cost one more mana and upgrade is too good for only 1 mana, 3 is the right cost.
Its a good thing your not on the balance team.
I not and no one in that team see the things like me, because of that we have this "fun" meta with 90% aggro decks, controls decks dead and only 2 classes in more than 60% of the games and 2 classes unplayable...

But how will I fit 30 theme cards into my Johnny deck and still win? Removal and defense should be optional, just for players that are into that sort of thing. Fix game plz Blizz.
I remember the good old days when everyone hated hunters for being to good with aggro decks...looks like the tides have changed.
Perhaps permanently in wild if they don't address any more pirate or weapon cards.
And people were right to hate on hunters because they were ridiculously OP for that time. Especially during the undertaker era. And yeah, if they don't nerf pirates more the game will stay ruined.
Certain weapons are just too strong in this game, and Warrior has access to the worst offenders (Fiery War Axe, Arcanite Reaper). They aren't game-breaking by themselves, but they become far too oppressive in combination with weapon-buffing effects.
This problem is exacerbated in Wild (Death's Bite), but it will always be true in Standard as well until something gets nerfed or Hall-of-Famed.
It's because weapons were originally balanced as creature removals. They are very fair when used in control warrior. The problem is that warrior who was the control class became the aggro class. And now weapons have become much better face dmg spells. I think the solution is gutting all the aggro cards so that people are forced to use weapons for wht they were intended to. Or maybe putting a "can only attack minions" on the most aggravating weapons (same as on fools bane)
The problem is that with this kind of deck, even if you get like 60% winrate vs pirate warrior, you loose like 80% against the rest of the decks. So it sucks :s that's the problem of reactive decks in hearthstone. Compare to pirate warrior, he plays always the same, has no bad matchup naturally, has the highest overall winrate against all decks and gets the most gold per hour...
If only Team 5 didn't suck dick and actually manned up and balanced their damn game.
I mostly agree but disagree with the claim that you can't create a hard counter to PW.
Sure, you can make a "taunt wall" warrior solely to counter pirates, but you would get steamrolled by everything else. Teching a few cards is one thing, devoting an entire deck to overcome a specific deck is no way to ladder. Tournaments are different, but not ladder.
Teching against any deck does lower your win rate against other decks, but using the word steamrolled seems like an exxaggeration.
I think the people that complain about Pirate Warrior the most, are people that are playing Pirate Warrior. When i played PW last night in ranks 15-10(wild), i found i was queued into PW and other aggro decks at least 50% of the time. But when i switched to Buff Paladin, i only played 1 PW in 10 games(which i destroyed because of all the taunts).
I know people say its a small sample size, but i have been saying it for 2 years now.....The cards in your deck determine who you get matched up against. Play 20 games of basic PW and you will get matched up against mostly aggro(and Reno). Add in 3-4 taunts, and all of a sudden you get queued into nothing but Reno and Mid range decks.
Yup, the nerfsbuffed the Pirate Warriors. Pirate warriors are running a lot of really strong aggresive tools and it should have been clear that one health at one minion won't make any difference. Well, at least the Pirate package is being cut out of the Shaman decks and who knows - maybe that was the one and only goal that Blizzard was trying to archive.
If they really wanted to nerf Pirate War they should go for following changes:
Fiery War Axe: 2 mana 1/2 "has +2 attack while attacking minions"
People still playing Pirate Warrior are the worst of all scum I have ever seen.
I beg to differ.... I haven't faced one pirate warrior in either wild casual or ranked. And if I do, N'Zoth druid will win it for me.

I think some card can be used as a tech card.Card like Tentacle of N'Zoth, Explosive Sheep, Unstable Ghoul, Ravaging Ghoul, and many AoE damage minion can be used to slowly clear the pirate opening.
I haven't tried it but maybe those card in Patron Warior is good? I don't usualy play wild but maybe I will tried it out.
