Just wait until a surprise Eye for an Eye wins a game. :D
I think this might be a sleeper good card. Paladin secrets can have strong game impacts. Landing redemption on the right target (Tyrion) can be game-changing. However, they're too weak on their own. Attaching to a 2/2 body might be enough value to justify inclusion in a deck.
With both Arcanologist and Hydrologist being introduced, it's pretty much guaranteed that Mage and Paladin are both getting a new secret. Paladin should get a really good one since Mysterious Challenger is rotating out.
I wonder why I read many comments of this as an isolated card. Murlocs is all about mass, and a secret that sets an enemy taunt to 1 health can be a bummer. Or when the murloc health buff guy gets returned to your hand. I am pretty sure we see a new secret as well, or in upcoming sets.
I am not hyped about the card but dont title it bad neither.
I finally found the answer to this, so I figured I'd share. Paladins, Hunters, and Mages will each discover secrets of their own class and all others will discover Paladin secrets.
I see a lot of people still think this is amazing when Paladin doesn't have the early game that can sustain a tempo loss such as this card brings. What are they playing on t1~4 that is proactive and can compete with other decks? Not much, really. And because your board clear is unreliable and thus bad, you really need proactive early game. Sure you get guaranteed a good secret right now, and late game if you get a Tyrion Redemption off or a Getaway Kodo on a good value card like Grimestreet Protector or Ivory Knight or even just another big late game card - it's amazing. But right now Paladins have this giant gap in the early to mid game where they have nothing proactive to play, and you won't get to that point as Paladin since you lack comeback mechanics.
The murloc tribe is going to be a downside right now more than an upside, as the only cards you could play that synergize with it right now mean you have to play a full on murloc deck. If you aren't putting Murloc Warleaders and Corrupted Seers and Grimscale Chums in your deck, stop talking about the tribe bonuses, because it's not a bonus. With Azure Drake rotating out Curator is questionable as well.
TL;DR: Murloc tribal is insignificant, and it's another mediocre statted utility minion for Paladin which doesnt help its early game.
Decided to add Mage and Hunter secrets, on the off-chance something crazy goes down and they access this card. In theory it's possible in Wild with Sylvanas Windrunner and Ancient Brewmaster, etc.
This card is dirty. It's a 2-drop which helps paladin's early game, it's a very nice pull for The Curator, and though paladin secrets aren't high-value they are situational enough that discovering one is almost always useful (in standard getting Getaway Kodo, Repentance, or Noble Sacrifice are all good. Redemption can be very good as well if you have a deathrattle. The only garbage one is Eye for an Eye, but since you discover 3 you never have to pick it). I put it in my handbuff paladin right at launch and it's been fantastic.
Paladin has a favorable match up against TTK Mage because this can pull Eye for an Eye. You just win on the spot usually. Since TTK Mage typically doesn't run life gain, so when they are at 1 HP they are locked out.
Just wanted to say this card is absolutely fantastic in Wild. In both Secret Paladin and Midrange Paladin, it is easily on the power level of Dark Peddler.
It also has obvious synergy with Secretkeeper. Plus it keeps your opponent on their toes if they're trying to keep track of which secrets you've already played from your deck.
This card just won me a game at rank 4 against quest Warrior. He was at 6 health, fulfilled his quest and got his Rag hero power. He'd gotten lucky and top-decked whirlwind and brawl TWICE at the perfect times to clear my board when I had lethal each time. I had nothing left. Played this little guy, and picked Eye for an Eye. He hero powered, hit my face, and Bam! I win. Amazing. I was so wrong about this card.
Exactly, you will almost always get something that is helpful and can be used in your situation. The fact that you don't waste a spot in your deck for a secret and just put a minion in it's place isjust that good. Also nice synergy with The Curator
In the current meta, you should be playing a 1 of for this card. That 1 of will get you lethal against mage and warrior a lot of the time. Not to mention that if you don't get Eye for an eye, you just grab getaway kodo and get infinite value until you do.
I think this card is broke, it says "discover a secret" and not " discover a paladin secret" .
Why? If you play discover cards they can only discover you cards from your class (fe. Stonehill Defender gives you only class specific taunts or neutral ones).
Besides that if you somehow get it playing mage, you discover mage secrets, same with Hunter. Since its a Paladin card it makes only sense that if you get to play it as let's say a Warlock you can only get secrets from the original class it comes from.

the hat and single tooth on this murloc aren't doing it for me.

For the moment I`ll say it`s playable, but if Paladin gets some good secrects, this card will be really good.
This is a good card on it's own.
The murloc tribal is just a bonus, you can play it in many other decks.
Actually the tribal is a double edged sword since the value of finja goes down, if you're going that route.
Getting a noble sac against aggro, a redemption vs tempo based decks or a kodo vs. slower decks can be a game changer.
Versatility is never bad but the card is obviously held down by the fact that Eye for an Eye even exists.

I was very wrong about this card. It's pretty sick an aggro-murloc decks.

Just came in here to say that I love this card and the almost infinite value it provides.
