I'm queueing into this deck nearly every game on wild ladder. I thought that control warlock would be a good counter because it is in standard, but warlock can't deal with 4 Mana 7/7 on turn 3 or 4 every game. So far I've queued into 7 shamans with warlock and I'm 1-6. Any better ideas?
Any Control deck is good because when Even Shaman runs out of cards in his hand he is pretty much harmless for Control deck which can consistently heal and clear the board. Any reno deck, Control Druids, Control Shamans and even Warriors should do the job.
Control decks that can survive the early game can usually out-value Hagatha. OTK decks that do more than pure stall before the combo beat it pretty consistently. Mind Blast quest priest would be my pick for best counter.
Use that four mana kill something and destroy a mana crystal spell. Yes it sucks, but they are overloaded next turn so it's not as bad as it would otherwise be. I play combo druid and I use naturalize. If it comes out early and u have to give them two cards, yeah it sucks, but you can stay alive and try to recover. if it comes out late, naturalize can mill so key cards for them. The warlock spell has similar downside early, but upside later aspect. Also the doll plus defile works pretty well.
Jade Druid with Poison Seeds counters Even Shaman so hard (I had 22-4)
I didn't lose to jade druid once from 5 to legend. Devolve + Maelstrom counters Spreading Plague hard. Just gotta play around seeds by not dropping all your big minions at once, unless both have been played.
The few Togwaggle druids I faced wrecked me though. Renolock and quest priest were also a problem.
Hey Guys... I found a HARD counter to even shaman... oddly enough, no pun intended... all you have to do is run the best odd shaman cards in a shaman tempo deck... featuring Shudderwock for the knockout punch if you haven't already grinded down their board. Besides simply running the strongest odd shaman cards (and obvious even ones too) adding lots of high health taunts really gets the job done. The matchups are very grindy and it's a chess match for about 20 turns with a billion trades, but by the end they run out of steam and get outvalued as their minions are static and yours are dynamic with the evolve spells.
Even shaman dies a slow painful death as they lose the board to higher health taunts and the evolve combos, and they have no healing or board clears other than maelstrom portal (whoopee!) Once they fall behind on the board they are screwed, and to top it off they have no card draw. Three really giant problems when you think about deck crafting. Board clears, healing, and card draw are three problems I don't have with my deck thanks to some key odd cards they wish they had.
Genn Graymane is COMPLETELY wrong... they have not turned their greatest weakness into their greatest strength... their greatness weakness is YOUR greatness strength.
I'm laddering between rank 5 and 3 with a funky oakheart druid deck at the moment, but I am around 90% win rate when I counter que even shamans with my shaman counter. The deck also does really well against tempo/secret mage, another bane of my existence.
Here's the most important cards to consider, in order of strength:
- Shudderwock... Auto win if you get off a chain gang and a doppel or two and a healbot hopefully. Unlike the combo wombo lifedrinker shudderwock plays, you can simply play shudderwock like a bonemare on steiroids on curve, or like an EXTREMELY beefy doppelgangster (that can evolve into a full board of 10 drops). Even Shaman has ZERO ways to deal with a full board of 6/6s, not to mention if you evolve them into 10 drops or get them all to have divine shield and taunt from the lone champion battlecry. - Doppelgangster/Evolve (thank god they are odd cost cards!) - Unstable Evolution (try to save for turn 4 or later to make an 8 drop if possible) - Volcano (Great way to regain the board) - Lightning Storm (goodbye totems!) - Tar Creeper, Lone Champion, Deathlord, Chain Gang, Hot Spring Guardian for midrange taunts (i've considered adding in the 2/4 echo taunt) - Mana Tide Totem (great to hide behind your high health taunts) - Antique Healbot (erase a smack to the face from a sea giant)
I also run Grumble to basically reheal my taunts if needed or to replay healbot, but he's not necessary for shudderwock to autowin. I've thought about adding in zola to duplicate the shudderwock, but the duplication is not needed against even shaman and a 3 mana 2/2 is absolute trash in the matchup from a tempo perspective, but might be something to consider against other decks that could clear the first wave of shudderwocks.
And I also run my favorite card ever... Yogg Saron... mostly as a troll card because I REALLY hate even shaman... but also as a backup prayer reset switch to clear a board you're behind on or to get some card draw.
My decklist is below, but you could probably put your own spin on it and perfect it as I only use it sparingly as a counter que to even shaman and tempo mage.

After playing against four Even Shamans in a row, I switched to this and Blizzard algorithm then gave me lots of other opponents. Finally played my first Even Shaman with this. Got murdered.
Deathlord is a great way for Even Shaman to get free 7/7s or 8/8s.
The deck has no individual removal for big threats in other decks. Thinking Malganis in particular.
2 Doomsayers and 4 board clears are not enough to stay ahead of Even Shaman. You MUST draw two board clears by turn 7 or you're dead. The chances aren't really high enough for that.
The Evolve cards are basically junk in your hand most of the time.

I actually beat them with a variation of Control Hunter. Hunter's Mark + Candleshot is the best anwser
Had a 35 Minute game with the Dragon Quest Priest Deck i play currently... Hagatha carried him so hard.
Most Control Decks counter Even Shaman quite hard. Otherwise try a Tempo deck, Even Shaman doesn´t have removal.
I beat them with my reno hunter
Are they really that bad? I seem to beat them 50% of the time with even warlock and I don't see why actual good decks wouldn't fare much better.
Renolock is good vs even shaman :)
Big Spell Mage.

Even Shaman counters Even Shaman >:D
But seriously, just play it. It's amazing. If you want to see exactly how amazing it is, look at this game that got me past the rank 3 boss:
https://hsreplay.net/replay/6psf5CHEdVevSk9o4FioV8
He had a full board with me at 13 health. Things looked very grim indeed. NEVER CONCEDE!
Token Zoo is pretty effective against even shaman I have hardly ever lost against one unless they were topdeck gods.
Here is the list I run btw
Even Shaman is definetly strong. I went from rank 7 to 5 today without a lose with it.
For counter i usually use my quest reno priest.

DRAGON PRIEST!!!
I've been grinding around rank 3 wild... dragon priest has been 100% for me against even shaman.
Psychic Scream x 2, Shadow Visions x 2, and Duskbreaker x 2 are the cards that destroy them, even when i drew terrible i eventually beat them.
bump i want a deck to ANIHILATE this bastards, don't mind if i lose to any other decks as long as i make even shamman suffer
After playing against four Even Shamans in a row, I switched to this and Blizzard algorithm then gave me lots of other opponents. Finally played my first Even Shaman with this. Got murdered.
