Blackwing technician is terrible in paladin. It's just a stats card with a drawback and no synergies. Never run that card in pally.
Templar has synergy with keeper, equality and possibly blessing of kings. And furthermore it plays a wide board which is what the hero power tries to achieve.
I've read on this site that some would play technician over templar but you shouldn't take these guys seriously.

This guy knows his shit.
Most people who tell you this is like Razorfen Hunter + 1 are netdeckers who have no real idea of how the game truly works. 4/5 for 3 is really strong, it comes in 3 bodies which is actually great in paladin, tons of synergies in there.
People talk as in "this card does not work in this deck" instead of "how does this card work?"
Once released I'm expecting to run a mix of both since one isn't really better than the other in a vacuum. For example, against a warrior I'd much prefer Blackwing Technician but against zoo Nightbane Templar may be much better. I'm expecting 2 of 1 and 1 of the other, or maybe 2x of both. I'll figure it out once I've gotten to play Nightbane Templar and see if it ends up being more like Razorfen Hunter or more like Muster for Battle.
Also I don't think it's really fair to evaluate the cards based on how strong they are without the dragon synergy because they frankly both suck without the trigger. Plus if you aren't reliably getting the trigger off you either a) are not mulliganing correctly or b) are not putting enough dragons in your deck.

You can't combine stats of multiple bodies and pretend it's one minion. That's like saying pantry spider is a 2/6 when it's clearly worse. It obviously depends what deck you're playing against and the state of the board that will determine whether a nightbane Templar is better or worse than 3/5. 3/5 doesn't lose 2 attack and 3 health when hit by a 1 damage aoe like this card does.
i'd have to go for templar, one thiing is that while templar isn't in the level of Muster for Battle it is way stronger than a Razorfen Hunter which is a card people are comparing this too, that comparison is prety much the Dr. Boom is a wargolem comparison so many noobs and pros did back on the day.
I feel like pally in the current state is weak against aggro and token decks and templar does a much better job at dealing with multiple minions than blackwing tech and the fact that it's weak to Ravaging Ghoul will not stop it from seeing play.
I think nightbane templar is slightly better due to the spreading out of stats. A ravaging ghoul still leaves a 2/2 body. The real issue dragon pally will face, is whether the netherspite historian will be good enough as a 2 drop, because pally is still losing tempo in the first two turns.
I play both. But I also opted for a creature heavy midrange version (without Doomsayer, Pyro+Equality and all that nonsense). Technician is great against Warrior since it trades for FWA and 6 damage to the face, while Templar is insane against Zoo, Hunter and Shaman. She can really run away with the game quite easily, especially in conjunction with Steward and Knife Juggler (yes Pally gets to mess around with Juggler again). The games where I get to run out Templar on turn 3 are just so much easier than the games where I don't. The hype is real. Whether it's enough to bring Dragon Pally anywhere near the map is a different story (it probably isn't).
If I had to chose I'd go with Templar. Paladin has the tools to beat Warrior but often falls short against swarm strategies.
Nightbane Templar is the better card IMO. It has more value in having the stats distributed across multiple bodies. Also, that Brann Bronzebeard + Nightbane Templar + Zoobot combo is pretty nice when trying to recover the board late in the game :D
Hi fellow Heartpwners,
Karazhan is almost there and I'm wondering : would you run Nightbane Templar over Blackwing Technician in a Dragon Pally ?
Nightbane Templar value is 4/5 against 3/5 for Blackwing Technician, but this last one is better without the battlecry and harder to kill ...
Tell me how do you feel about it !
Well, if you look at Nightbane Templar as a Razorfen Hunter that just gives one more 1/1Boar, it starts to look really bad.
I think dragon Pali will run both. Overall I think technician is a little better.

In Paladin, I'd play Templar, because you can create some cool synergies around it. What can you create around Technician?

I want to try to build anyfin paladin around Nightbane Templar. Didn't even think about Blackwing Technician. Why would you want this card? Paladin needs exactly Nightbane Templar in early game in current meta. Just think about sinergy with Equality, Consecration, Truesilver Champion (to kill this annoying OP 5 hp minions) and Bluegill Warrior.
This card seems quite good my main concern is that this sucks when you can't proc the effect..

You get better value out of the Nightbane, IMO.
If your opponent doesn't have a board clear, he's forced to take out your minions one-by-one.
That's pretty decent.
