Build-a-Beast Buffs
Well this expansion looks like fun!
Was thinking about quiting hs for my own sake since the grind is too real but this expansion made me reconsider!
I had to.
4 mana 7/7...
Sleepy dragon is a dragon...
Toothy Chest? You mean mimic?
I really thought each class would've have an "unidentified" card :/
So many heals and taunts and AoE this expansion. MAYBE finally we get our control meta?
I can only see Mage as a powerful aggro deck besides the current tempo ones.
Why are you constatly crying for control meta? Isn't this Razakus Priest madness enough for you?
It's even worse than loosing to Pirate Warrior at turn 5, because a mirror takes 20 minutes and the one who wins is just the one who draws Kazakus, Raza and Anduin first. Really interactive and fun meta.
Hey I'm not saying I like decks we have right now.
Razakus and Druid decks are NOT traditional control decks btw. A control deck that focus on getting on the board with an 8/8 on turn 5 while completely ignoring the board is not really a traditional control deck. Neither is machine gunning someone down.
Neither of these decks play for value and I do hate them all. And I also hate the current tempo decks that are only surviving because of tribal pirate synergy and broken neutrals that you put in literally every single deck.
A traditional control deck/meta would be pretty cool, if there were ways for traditional decks to counter them. But right now I agree, there is no traditional control and traditional aggro or tempo can't even compete with the current top tier decks because they have so many broken tools that just can't be countered or played around.
An actual control meta would be where mages out value you instead of drawing 5 cards, discounting them with the new elemental and doing infinite damage without even needing quest...
Either way, I keep talking about this because people have been waiting for this to happen in so long and it never did. Aggro died, but so did control way back before when jade was added to the game.
Razakus is a combo deck, combo isn't control
Feel like many of KaC expansion card can be category as "Prince Keleseth" level. Not instant op or broken at first glance . Some people see that can even worst legendary in the pack (i'm one of them cuz I compare it with Mistcaller). But time pass and people start to experiment and came up with really good deck.
For example . Hunter . Blizz doesn't fix all hunter main weakness (draw and sustain). But with new archetype deck that they try to push. Minionless hunter, even from the last expansion(remember how hunter fight against Lich king?). And KaC add atleast 5 card(or 6 if you also count crushing wall) to play in that deck.
Hunter has many good card. But the main reason people still play midrange hunter because other card that hunter receive doesn't powerful enough to out value what they have lost if they play it. Nearly all of hunter spell are dealing damage. meaning they don't have any board presence. And even they want to play slower hunter deck to out value the enemy. They can't cuz they lack draw / board clear / sustain power.
But look at new card we receive. Flanking strike 4 mana deal 3 dmg to minion + 3/3 wolf. That better than Fire Plume Phoenix . and it also beast. Remove one minion plus 3/3 also give your tempo swing a little bit.
Then we have Wandering Monster . 2 mana heal equal to enemy minion attack. Also maybe give you some board presence.
And Emerald Spell Stone give you huge tempo swing .5 mana 12/12 worth of stat that immune to single target removal? Check me in. It force your opponent to use mass removal or trade Or risk getting beat up by those puppy.
Rhok'Delar was create for you to advance your play after you use up your resource. And it still 4/2 weapon worth of stat that doesn't fear Ooze or other weapon removal. That is 4 mana worth of stat + 3 mana to refill your hand with spell. that kinda insane.
Now back to old tool that hunter has.
Arcane Shot , Grievous Bite , Explosive Trap , On the Hunter , Unleash the Hound , Bear Trap , Venomstrike Trap , Cat Trick can be use as early game removal and create body to stay on board.
Animal Companian , Eagle Horn Bow , Multi Shot , Kill Command , Snipe , Deadly Shot for turn 3-5 removal and tempo play.
Deadly shot , Hunter Mark , Freeze Trap , Call of the Wild for late game removal and additional damage + body on board.
And if you crazy enough. Thrown in Deathstalker Rexxar if you want.
The down side is You may still running out of fuel before you draw Rhok'Delar . And It kinda need specific tool to deal with enemy board.
I see what you're getting at, but it's way too optimistic. With no card draw in a class that's already notoriously inconsistent, spell Hunter will not get anywhere meaningful. It might be "fun", but it's also hard-countered by the top contenders of the expansion, AKA the decks you'll be seeing the most in ladder, so that fun isn't going to be lasting all too long.
Rhok'delar is also one of the worst endgames I've ever seen to work towards, along with To My Side. There's no guarantee you're getting a true win condition when you fill your hand with random spells from the class with the weakest, most overcosted line of spells, and Animal Companions simply are not going to win you games on their own. Spellstone gets wrecked by most new-age board clears, especially the newest Dragon Priest tool, which you WILL see ample amounts of, and ESPECIALLY Psychic Scream, which you WILL see A LOT of. Rhok should have really filled your hand with Hunter minions to compensate for the overall weakening of your deck's tools, or better yet been separate from this lame archetype altogether. It says a lot when a 1 mana common weapon outshines it in almost any situation.
I get what you are saying, but I tried sketching this out and there are some issues:
1. Other than Rexxar's +5 armor, you have no healing. This is essential for most control lists, and is not an option for you since you can't run minions. While Wandering Monster and Freezing Trap by a little time, they aren't really healing, and It is especially vital to have it because...
2. Most of your good removal is damage or weapon-based. It is very hard for this deck to answer a Druid of the Swarm or a Drakonid Operative or a [ card]Bittertide Hydra[/card].Eaglehorn Bow is as good as ever but if you have to remove those huge threats you will absolutely die. Even having to multi-swing into 4/4 Southsea Captains (thanks, Keleseth) is going to add up really quickly. Candleshot/On the Hunt + Hunter's Mark is great and the one saving grace here, but as a two-card combo in a deck with no card draw it'll be pretty unreliable against those big minions.
3. You have no card draw, since you can't run stuff like Bloodmage Thalnos or Acolyte of Pain.
4. You have no real boardwipes, since you can't run Doomsayer or Wild Pyromancer or spell damage+ cards to make your Grievous Bite hit harder. If druid vomits out a ton of X/3 minions, you are in for a world of hurt.
5. You can't run the obvious synergy with Cloaked Huntress and Professor Putricide, because it turns off your "all spells" payoff.
6. I am unconvinced the payoffs are worth it due to the RNG involved. For every game where To My Side is two Mishas to stabilize or two Huffers to win, there will be games were it is two Leokks and you die. For every game that the bow is amazing, there will be ten where it is extremely mediocre.
Don't get me wrong, I think that Flanking Strike is INSANE and Lesser Emerald Spellstone is good and Wandering Monster is solid, and will all make midrange Hunter a better deck in the new meta. But all spells hunter has a loooooong way to go.
Too many heeeeeeals, Two neutral healing efffect, one neutral that gives armor, and the two astoundly good heals for Warlock... i like it already
shifting scroll so strong...
Hrm... most of the card dump is "interesting" cards. Probably most won't see play, but most seem like they have good value. Definitely some good arena cards in there. Little pack fillers this time around.
There is one Rogue Rare missing right? Anything else missing?
