Time is money. Some people rather earn $ to spend on a game that they enjoy so as to reduce the grind. If you are f2p, you cannot complain. After all blizzard is here to make money. There is always arena for you where card collection doesn't matter.
In the very low ranks of 25-18 you get a lot of scrub decks (no offense) and you can see that some people are really missing a lot of cards. But after that, nearly every deck you face is a full powered version with all the legendaries etc
i can see how this would annoy a f2p player but that's ladder. Just be patient and smart about crafting / de'ing and you'll get the stuff you want eventually.
If it gets you down just know there's nothing wrong with dropping some $ every now and then
Sometimes in Ladder or even in Casual I'll be playing one of my concoctions and then bam, legendary this, rare that, epic here and there. It doesn't mean I autolose, but it's really an uphill climb most of the time. Sometimes I also just can't be bothered and just concede. I like a good hard match as much as the next man (wink) but sometimes it's just not worth the effort, especially if I'm just playing for fun.
I've had this problem way back since MTG, when I just played random crap and people were playing top-tier decks all the time. I know part of the fun of the game is doing your best no matter what, but still, it irritates me.
Anyone feel the same?
any f2p player that started 1-2 yrs ago, at this time will have probably full collection, at least will have all the useful legendary, epic, rare cards.
I think the F2P game experience is way better, because when you achieve something you know you worked for it. Like if someone had bought me all 4 wings of Karazhan, then I wouldn't appreciate the cards I get as much as if I get it with gold, that's why I already have more than 700 gold stored up for the next wing.
Also, it's easier to get good decks by saving up for adventures, one of the most used legendaries in the game are Brann and Reno, and you can get the gold for each wing in like 5 days, other important thing is to avoid finishing 40 gold quests and reroll them whenever you can.
Well, i disagree :)
On my "paid" account i just threw in $15 or so and i keep playing arena and some just-for-fun decks on lower ranks.
On the "free" one, i'm saving the gold for that adventure. That means no arena at all, and sometimes i'm forced to play 5+ ranked games with something as disgusting as some "midrange" shaman just to finish that daily quest. Does that process make me feel somewhat special? Nope.
F2P Casual here. Never gone above Rank 15 and have played on and off for ~7 months.
I have Ragnaros, Sylvannas, Deathwing, Gromm, and other legendaries. Plenty of powerful epics that work well in my decks (play mostly C'Thun decks).
Some people have simply worked hard on daily quests + tavern brawls to acquire packs. I dust what I don't need and usually discard any golden card I get. I also have the Medivh Mage Skin because of the Hay Day Amazon $10 promotion. Even if it looks like I paid, I didn't! Looks can be deceiving.
I started hoarding gold a few months in advance of WOTG and with daily quests i was able to get 100 packs F2P in under a month-and-a-half. Since then, I've earned another 3,000+ gold that I've dumped into classic packs and failed arenas (I'm an awful arena player) and another 10,000 dust [boosted by 2 gold legendaries that were duplicates and had to be dusted]. I've been so pleased with the f2p-ness of hearthstone that I donated $20 for kara, even though I could have earned the gold, and I'll likely continue to do expansions for free and pay $20 every summer for the adventure, as my way of giving back.
F2P is a grind to acquire cards, which usually last about 6 months to 1 year, depending on how diligently you play, how heavily you try to farm for high gold dailies, etc. There is a point where you are able to build one full competitive list, which you likely will fall in love with and form a pet deck of. Using that deck, you play more, amass more cards, and slowly over the course of another 6 months to 1 year, are able to build many competitive decks.
That feeling of your opponent just going "boom this, legendary that" though, never goes away. That's just hearthstone.
Also, never dust legendaries. It get's so tempting, but a lot of them have hidden potential and see fringe play in decks you may want to experiment with. Just don't dust 'em. Bad epics you can dust, golden cards you can dust, but don't touch legendaries or epics that have, let's say, unique effects. Those all end up having potential somewhere down the road.
Well, frankly speaking, you irritate me and the others like you who are just plain selfish and only think about their own gaming experience. You knew what you were getting into or at least, through playing the game you learned how cards were acquired, and yet you have the audacity to be irritated by players who invested a lot more time and even money than you did? You chose to not invest money and you get irritated with players who throw in cards they have collected through spending their hard earned cash and those other f2p who busted their ass grinding. There are in-game elements that can help you with your collection and game modes where you can play all the crap cards you want to throw in. Go ahead and play with the Innkeeper, play with a friend, play Arena, or Tavern Brawl.
My 9 legendary CW deck only have slight win percentage vs dirt cheap deck like aggro shaman or zoo, infact this cheap deck are top tier. Control warrior? Not, even it is very expensive.
So if you F2P choose ur deck wisely. Shaman, zoo, midrange hunter are very good choice you can go legend with only few epics. But if you want to play control, ofc you need lots of high end cards. It call wallet warrior for a reason lolz
nope, maybe when i started two years agoo i got angry when facing fully powered watcher druids (a then really popular meta deck), then i realized mage counters druid and made a really aggressive mage (saturos aggro mage, not a meta deck but it worked wonders against druid), i was able to farm gold , my golden mage portrait and a control warrior with that deck aslo during my first six months i made a point fo farming a pack a day, quest+wins until i got to buy a pack, never liked arena nor had the time to burn on it, fast forward two years and i can play almost every deck i want, also.... at the very moment the top tier decks are dirt cheap, aggro shamman's only expensive card is doom-hammer, the resta re commons and rares, mid-range hunter's only expensive card is COTW and the rest are commons and rares, and thanks to the most stupidlybroken hero power zoo is viable with whatever cheap-ass cards you put in there.
I have been playing for 2 years and has all the adventure and more than 9 other legendary. I didn't even play arena, my arena win is only 24. I only grind wins when golden heroes is close to my possession.
not at all, there are quite some decks you can build fast as a f2p-player, and for me the other decks were a goal i wanted to reach. if i had had access to everything from the start i probably wouldnt be playing anymore. with the addition of tavern brawl (1 pack per week) and the ladder-rewards at the end of the month progression is a lot better now anyway. you'll get there eventually!
I remember I was quite upset, when I faced Dr.7. Or big, huge cards such as those from dragon decks. I felt unfairly overwhelmed back then.
But now, after 1 year of regular but not intensive f2p, i don't feel any unfairiness towards any opponent, even if I still lack the resources to have access to much stuff I'd like to try (some epics, or cards from soon-to-wild adventures).

Missing lethal since June 2015.
Just play cancer aggro shaman and all the pay to win players will concede to you.

As a f2p I can afford to build any deck that i want for standart or craft some picks that Im missing so no I dont get upset.
Back in the days after GvG release I was so tilted every time I saw Dr.Boom, he was so powerful yet I couldn't afford to craft him :(

Look at my collection. I'm f2p it just takes time. I also never disenchant any other cards except for extras and I only craft legendaries.
