When I first saw Baku the Mooneater, I wanted to play it with Shaman because Totemic Slam is my favorite Justicar Trueheart upgrade. This deck is an attempt to make this work...at least in Wild.
I'd like some feedback if anyone has ideas to add/subtract things to make this better.
It's a bloodlust/totem shaman arch-type. Was considering Windshear Stormcaller, but didn't seem to fit when considering the reason for Baku is to summon a bunch of duplicate totems potentially. Maybe Witch's Cauldron and Nightmare Amalgam have some place in this deck too, but not sure what to cut...
Same here I love the hero upgrade! although evolve in totem shaman seems pretty weird to me... I love your deck and I’ll modify it when the expansion releases. Good work.
Thanks for the comment. My reasoning is that Dopplegangster+Evolve is always strong and if I'm summoning a bunch of totems and don't have the totem combos in hand but Dopple+Evolve, that's still a great play.
I would recommend more spells that benefit from the Spell Power +1 Totem, if possible. The Taunt totem is great for defense otherwise, and sometimes the healing if you have a board. But the spell power is your main value generator.
Edit: There are not so many non-wild damaging spells left unless they release some more this expansion.
And I'm not sure how viable this deck is in standard in general, as my build is Wild already.
Oh, for the wild build then I think Maelstrom Portal is a very good addition otherwise for more strong boardclears
Unfortunately, Maelstrom Portal is a 2-drop haha. Would have included that in the original build no question if it was an odd-cost card...and edit; totally realizing Spirit Claws is also even cost, so ignore that...lol
Running 2x Bloodlust, 2x Fungalmancer, and 2x Stormwind Champion feels awfully heavy handed. Maybe the upgraded HP is good enough to handle that much.... starting right away with that HP is pretty crazy, really. Still, it might be better to cut a high-cost champion for another low cost minion generator.
Honestly, this archetype seems like it's .... calling .... for the Windshear Stormcaller. See what I did there? :D (and now that I've typed that, I'm really interested in trying it lol)
Exploding Insects!
1) Snowfury Giant will always be odd costed I believe because I think the odd/even check is like the Skulking Geist check for 1-cost spells. At any rate, this wouldn't matter anyways because Baku only cares about the beginning of the game.
2) About Silence, that's why Earth Shock is there obviously
3) I think I agree with it being a little heavy handed. Maybe a Shrieking Shroom! :D
4) Idk, I think play-testing will only tell if Windshear Stormcaller is going to be worth replacing something like Fungalmancer with.
With so many totems, you have to at least run 1x stormcaller. We'll have to kick you out of the Shaman club if you don't. :p
Hey, don't kick me out of the club too soon. I have a golden copy of Windshear Stormcaller ;). I really hope it would work in this deck, but I'm just of the current opinion that there are more competitive options.
The storm caller is one of the worst cards in the game.
1. You need all 4 totems our first. Since 1 is a taunt this is an incredibly rare feat in itself.
2. Making this more difficult is you can only have 1 more minion on the board at most besides the totems. Otherwise you can’t summon the wind lord due to lack of board space.
3. If you somehow accomplish all this you get a single legend that rarely sees play in its own right.

Although I didn't put it in the deck I made for the reasons you said, in a slight defense for the card, with Baku, if you summon every totem but the taunt totem first, you could just on turn 7 summon the taunt and windshear, but yeah I do mostly agree with you... however I'm still open to it being good in this deck lol
I wouldn’t craft it but if you have them go for it! I have two from opening packs. People tend to kill the spell damage totem on sight though. If there was some other sort of buff for totems or a card that pulled all 4 he would be grand. It’s the reason I don’t dust him actually.
Nice. Ihv actually been playing around with a bunch of different variants of my deck I posted before. I'll update it when I find something that's more competitive. I like your deck a lot too and those are some nice stats. It seems like the most interesting thing about this archtype is that there are multiple ways to actually play it. Whether you want to do Paladin mode and summon the 1/1s, infinite taunts, or infinite spell damage, the choice is yours. The most interesting play-style I have found so far is actually stacking Healing Totem and playing it with something like Lightwarden and anything that gives a bunch of health.
You right, this is quite broad archetype, won't be surprised much if atleast one of this playstyles turn out to be competitively good after some polishing.
I actually thought about Lightwarden but haven't tried them yet. I think they might compete with Witch's Apprentice for place in my deck. Random spell and one mana taunt is very good and flexible, but I can't shake off feeling that I need some more competitive stats for possible turn one play (especially if you going first). And since you can't expect to always draw Trogg...
Ever since TGT i've been trying to make a totem/minion buff deck with cards like Mukla's Champion , Thunder Bluff Valiant and The Mistcaller but it was always too slow from having to play Justicar way later on. I think with Baku starting from turn 1 you have tons more options of doing an inspire buff deck, my only concern is losing cards like Thing from Below ,Totem Golem and Flametongue Totem

99.99% of the time he’s a vanilla 5/5 for 5 mana.

Hey, good job wth your deck.
I'm playing around with slightly different version.
Played couple of unranked games yesterday and started to climbing rank today.
Currently my score is 18-13 in ranked and 31-16 with inclusion of unranked matches.
Also, I played last two matches with pair of Fungalmancer instead of Nexus-Champion Saraad and Blazing Invocation and got quite nice results. Completely forgot about this card, thank you for reminding.
