I am thinking about making a control shaman as I already have a lot of the stuff for it. theres 2 versions I'm looking at, I'm just not sure which way to go.
the one without elektra has the higher winrate Vs. zoolock though, so it might be the better one? it has the lower overall winrate though.
would be great if anyone who knows about the arhcetype could give me some advice, please.
I don't have any control decks right now as I used to play control warlock and that kind of fell off. I am hearing good things about control shaman though, and as I am also playing murloc decks, I have a lot of the same cards. in turn if I build the one without elektra, I get to craft OG-Hagatha, which is a card I actually want as well.
anyway guys, as usualy I really appreciate any advice you can give me.
Im finding success lately with Wild Pyromancer and some 0 mana spells and other cheap ones to control the early game. It makes it easier to save the board clears, Lightning Strom, and Hagathas Scheme. If you have the Krag'wa, that can help alot too. And I have combo'd this early game with the 7 mana Exotic Mountseller for when Hagatha is around, and for using any cheap spells left over from the early game. So far I am 7-2 rank 10 to 8, since last nite. I am finding the Wild Pyro VERY usefull vs DRUID and other faster decks. Heres my list if your interested....### Full Exotic Pyromancer (v1.2) # Class: Shaman # Format: Standard # Year of the Dragon # # 1x (0) Beakered Lightning # 2x (0) Zap! # 1x (1) Earth Shock # 2x (1) Sludge Slurper # 2x (1) Totemic Smash # 2x (2) Earthen Might # 2x (2) Menacing Nimbus # 2x (2) Wild Pyromancer # 2x (3) Haunting Visions # 2x (3) Lightning Storm # 2x (4) Thunderhead # 2x (5) Hagatha's Scheme # 1x (6) Eureka! # 1x (6) Krag'wa, the Frog # 2x (6) Rain of Toads # 2x (7) Exotic Mountseller # 1x (8) Hagatha the Witch # 1x (8) Walking Fountain # AAECAaoIBv8Fp+4Cnv0Cn/0CwYkDipQDDPUE9gew8AL28AKP+wKb/wKKgAOKhQPzigOtkQPGmQPinwMA # # To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone # Generated by HDT - https://hsreplay.net
p.s Yes, I know there are no Hex's in the deck. The results speak for themselves, however, its not set in stone either. Just wanted to show one of many versions I have built recently. Good luck to you!
Here's the version I'm currently using and it does pretty well vs. both aggressive and slow decks, unless the Aggro opponent drew the nuts. At first I played double Omega Mind instead of Menacing Nimbus but I found it to be too slow and just healing up won't save you anyway. Therefore I tweaked the list to operate a little more proactive, the Overload package is very useful. Earthen Might looked promising but in the end it's not additional random value you're looking for. Depending on your local meta you might swap a copy of Voltaic Burst with Earth Shock or vice versa. Haunting Visions can be coupled nicely with Spirit of the Frog to speed up your draw. Finally, Krag'wa, the Frog and/or Barista Lynchen are just overkill, similar to Earthen Might.

this actually looks like what mine will eventually look like. I think I can craft alysiana and shudderwok now, but I still only have 1 brew and no haunting visions or frog totems, but like I just gotta work with what I have. I just have to basically use mana tide totem as a draw engine for now. I am thinking about ways to try and protect it though to maybe get 2 draws off it or 3 even. usually you only get 1 from it as it will be taken out fast if possible.
I did see a guy running an aggressive version that had no draw cards at all today though. he said he basically just sits back and waits for cards. it does allow you to run more actual spells and minions though, the fewer cards you have dedicated to a draw engine.
I would like the toads and 2 brews though at least, probably one copy of the spell draw card as well like you have.
I was actually thinking about throwing 2 amalgam in mine as well as I have zilliax in it, and obviously it's an elemental too so it has great synergy.
On a second thought Krag'wa could actually be an option, again depending on your local meta. It might replace Shudderwock (Elysiana is much more important anyway) then.
/edit - I figured that the deck needs more proactive plays and meaningful board presence, therefore I tweaked the list and reinserted Earthen Might. One copy of Lightning Storm is enough to keep the spell cycle via Spirit going, even without Haunting Visions.
On a second thought Krag'wa could actually be an option, again depending on your local meta. It might replace Shudderwock (Elysiana is much more important anyway) then.
kragwa is good IMO, I mean it might not make the deck more competitive for you especially, but it's a cool card and I think most of us play decks like this just to do crazy things.
I just crafted alysiana and shudderwok anyway. I still only have the 1 brew though and none of the other epic draw spells, but I'm gonna make it work. I'm test driving the barista in the deck as well as I have her so might as well.
I don't know whether to keep the draw totem in my deck or not though, I guess some way to draw is better than none, but like will just have to pick up frog totems and those other draw cards next. at least I got the late game stuff sorted now. I guess without being able to draw into my deck fast it might not be as viable though.
this is what my deck looks like now. I think I just need an improved draw engine package, and then some possible greed in a baleful banker or something. I was gonna put a youthful brewmaster in as I don't have balefuls. I reckon in ways youthful is even better in a proper fatigue battle anyway.
let me know what you guys think anyway. and like I say, I know it's still missing stuff, it would be in there if I had it. ha ha.
but, I;d love suggestions on what I can do to improve it still, maybe I have some cheaper options in my collection that could help out.
I was thinking about a copy of rain of toads maybe, and maybe that safe taunt we got (just one copy though) as it can potentially make a huge body with zilliax.
The other thing is that if I was to include am amalagam or 2, it counts as elemental and mech, so it could be a target for zilliax and earthen might. you could potentially make a huge dude that could go face for lethal even.
I will have to test it. I was gonna run this in my mid range deck anyway. but it will work in my control one as well I reckon. just bloody hard pushed for space.
I'm having more success with this than I was with the dragon control and it's a bag of fun as well.
That moment when you T5 Eureka pulling a copy of Oondasta who pulls Oondasta who pulls war bear, evolving the first Oondasta into a Deathwing. Fun times. Against control warrior play 1 minion at a time and use Eurekas for Ysera. Toughest match.

awesome dude. I will go and leave a comment on your deck. please go and leave some thoughts on mine as well. I'm writing a journal about building it as a go in the description.
Thanks. It looks decent. Not sure about the Barista.
I crafted her thinking she copied battlecrys in your hand. Pretty dumb but I'm sure she will be good at some point.
ha ha. I got her in pack so no sweat for me to try her out. I was thinking about using her more in the earlier game to copy battlecries to keep the pressure up, maybe after swampqueen or something. if you play queen on turn 9 and it stays up, you play the add without overloading and then play the barista, you get copies of both back in your hand again.
I think the best way to use her though most of the time is on curve to get back lackies and early battlecry minions. if you take a bog sloshers or brewmasters or something you can bounce her back and then use her again as well.
I'm seriously thinking about making a proper weird bouncing deck as if it's mainly about fatigue I can keep playing key minions to get more value.
I imagine I'll be well into meme territory, but it will be really fun to act like rogue with a control shaman deck :D if only we had a way to discover rogue spells and could get shadowsteps.

I've not tried wild pyro in my deck yet, but will give it a go once I have kragwa. I need him as a spell engine early game and in case I don't get OG hag in time.
I think zentimo can be great as well at making removals better. if you face aggro decks I reckon it will be great. you bog slosher him back off the board again and can use him again, but is bigger next time.
I have updated my deck now if you wanna check it out. it's obviously still missing some bits, but it's great anyway. I like that it's a bit weird. it's way more aggressive than the typical control shamans because of this, with barista to basically replay all the early game stuff again, then you can just shudder early to finish the game VS. aggro.
I actually really like it how it is TBH. it's like a mid range elemental/overload deck combined with a control deck with a fatigue package. it's pretty gnarly if I do say so myself. ha ha.
If you have your deck on here I will comment it and stuff as well if you link me. I like to leave comments on as many decks as I can.
Just wanna jump in and say that Earthshock is really good right now. It kills Twilight Drakes that Summoner Mage is playing, so then you can save Hex for their Mountain Giants. ES is also great against Token Druid and Zoo when they have a soul of the forest or buffed minion.
At least where I'm at (rank 5), there are a lot of people playing Mage cuz it overwhelms Control Warrior.
Also I like to play 2 copies of the spell that discovers a Battlecry. Vs Control you often get to pick up an extra Shudderwock or Hagatha and vs aggro you just pick something to contest the board.

thanks. I was gonna add one anyway. this the one with silence and 1 damage for 1 overload?
Also I like to play 2 copies of the spell that discovers a Battlecry. Vs Control you often get to pick up an extra Shudderwock or Hagatha and vs aggro you just pick something to contest the board.
yeah, it is good. I will try that out. I think I dusted them though when I needed some extra dust as I had never used them before. ha ha. I knew I should have left the shaman spells alone as I didn't know which ones were needed.
At rank 5 none of this matters anymore. It’s just not viable
I've never been to rank 5 before, so not an issue for me. I maybe play 20 or 30 games a week. and if by some twist of fate I did play enough games to get to rank 5, I'd just switch token druid or something if I actually cared about climbing and winning.
I appreciate the heads up anyway.
I understand this is an expensive endeavour for it not to be the best deck, but I just like it.
also I have pals that have piloted control shaman to high legend. so it can't be that bad?
deck is performing really well as it is. I would still like to add some more things, but I'm really happy with it.
would be appreciated though if anyone has any advice about it, to leave a comment on my deck please. it's nice to have comments on the deck for future reference as it's way easier to find than an old thread.
Hey guys, I am turning this into my shaman thread. instead of posting every time I have a question, I am going to post it here.
I apologise for spamming threads. in my defence I have been awake way too much this weekend, I wasn't actually aware I'd posted quite so many.
so anyway guys, anyone got any new things they are trying out? mine is still the same as last night as not had a chance to play it much yet.
I still have enough to craft an epic, so I may craft my 2nd brew for it. a lot of people only run one brew, and ideally you use kragwa to make more copies, but don't have kragwa so 2 copies is probs best for me right now.
I threw a game VS. a conrtrol warrior yesterday when it got to fatigue as I was too concerned with making more brews with the kragwa I got back from the "discover a battlecry minion" card. It lead me to fall behind and I couldn't play my elysiana in time. he had a flooded board and I couldn't answer, I couldn't heal up enough and elysian and was into 4 fatigue damage by this point.
I'd talen a lot of damage frpom bombs and from dr boom as he got a full board of bombs from him as well. if I had of had zentimo I might have been able to deal with it, but I just had to use a removal on them then hope to heal back up.
all in all, between the bombs and that new legendary minion they got it's really nasty. then you have the rest of the deck as well which is no picnic to play against.
I played my elysiana, said "well played" then conceded. the opponent "thanked" me as I assume he knew he'd won, and I was only dragging the game out at this point.
Now my point of this anecdote is to relay the importance of getting your brews read earlier in the game. If you have kragwa you want to copy those brews on curve them hold them for fatigue (or at least before you get that far, ytou want to do it before the warrior starts applying pressure with his big cards. They usually do this just before or upon hitting fatigue after playing elysiana.
Ofc I don't have kragwa, so I think I should just make a 2nd brew so I have one for later, that way I won't have to fall behind at all.
alternatively I could craft a single Omega for big healing from hagatha's scheme, but they can be pulled from your deck with that new mech card they use. they can also burn your copies of brew with the new one that pulls out spells as well though, and they are running this now. ha ha.
basically control warrior is un winable 99% of the time. they have way too much tech that can completely gimp us, combined with the ability to turtle and has all the best removal right now. and their hero card is completely fucking broken with thye charge added to mechs. the charge bit should be added to a rotation with the hero power, that would tone it down a bit. also the delivery system should just give a random mech, they always pick omega for the clear. I have seen them play this card like 7-10 timers in a game before. not to mention the armour one gives them 7 armour a time.
I'm starting to wish I'd crafted control warrior. I mean not over control shaman as I love it too much, but that deck is a pure machine. I might actually have to change decks just to stop beat them up a bit to get my head straight. ha ha. thing is I don't have flark for bomb hunter, I'll have to play mid range hunter instead and that isn't as OP against it.
time to start opening boomsday packs and hoping for flark and electra I guess.
I'm starting to think maybe zentimo is needed though so you can hex 3 minions at once. you need vs doombot and you need it vs some priest decks I'm hearing. it will help vs mage as well I think.
just being able to hex 3 minions at once is pretty decent, IMO.
