Masters Tour: Orgrimmar - Results and Decklists!
Masters Tour: Orgrimmar was the second Masters Tour stop to determine who will win enough prize money to be eligible to become a Grandmaster in 2021, Season 2, which is due to start later this year and will have a spots to the World Championship on the line for all participants (1 spot per Region, per GM season). With this being the second of only six tournaments to determine these GM spots, it is an important stepping stone and can get players a good start towards making Grand Masters!
The closely fought results from the Swiss rounds on Friday and Saturday lead to a Top 16 single elimination round on Saturday and the Top 8 Single elimination rounds on Sunday. Find all the video links as well as the results from Sunday and the Decklists from the Top 4 in our recap below!

Wow such a diversity meta!!! Good job Bli$$ard!
but tickatus Iss ThE Pr0Blemm n HAs to bE nErF
Yep, Tickatus still has to be nerfed and Jaraxxus too ... But Warlock ofc needs some good cards ... It's just not Tickatus and THIS Jaraxxus ...
nothing special with any of these lists
wow... 4 spell mages, 4 miracle rogues, 4 ctrl priest, 3 rush warrior and 1 libram pala...
5 classes almost 4...
and they have pretty much the same list
So interesting to see so much diversity in the game -_-
Yeah, this Meta has been figured out.
It's always a fine line between having a Meta that is fresh and new where anything can happen, but results for players hinge largely on deck choices and having a Meta that has been figured out (and therefor somewhat predictable) where results for players largely hinge on play quality.
There's something to be said for both Meta's.
Personally I prefer the fresh Meta for playing myself and the figured out Meta for watching others/tournaments.
Figured out meta can very well have more than 5 decks viable for pro play and establishing such situation should be one of the game designers' goals. They have proven it's possible previous expansions and such meta situation clearly requires changes.
As proof, even classic has more!
What tells that there are only 5 viable decks? This tournament had over 400 players and all classes were represented, even Shaman. Just because you can only see 5 classes in this article doesn't mean there are only 5 viable classes.
Just as an example, you see no Druid here and 4 Priests but in reality, there were more Druids in the tournament than Priests, it is just that none of them qualified for the top 4.
I just meant that saying that the meta has been figured out is a poor reply to the original comment as it implies that the conclusion it came to is correct and tries to explain it in a way that doesn't make sense.
Pointing out that the game is in fact more diverse than it may seem is much more reasonable way of disageering.
I don't know why this has to be repeated infinitely but it's tournament play. It is not the place you get cute with deck building, it's most consistent v most consistent with occasional card techs you wouldn't see otherwise because you know the deck pool will be shallow.
It was ok, some very nice plays all around. That being said, the fact that mage and lunacy is still around and deciding games at this high of a level is just really silly. It kinda devolves into rngstone. And even rogue with all the shadowsteps and wand thief, it started to feel a little silly.
I don't think Lunacy is the superior way to play Spell Mage anymore. Of the 4 Quarter Finals, all 4 featured a series between someone running Lunacy and someone not running Lunacy. Of those, 3 of the 4 that went through were the non-Lunacy players. The Finals was between 2 players who did not bring Lunacy.
Most of the EU scene seems to have removed Lunacy for a Shooting Star or a second Flamestrike. Monsanto had replaced his with a Cone of Cold.
Lunacy does crazy things, but just using your deck you have, but discounted strongly and without having to figure out if it's wise to keep discounting and knowing from turn 1 what your game plan is going to be is seemingly more reliable to get far.
Ultimately Lunacy sacrifices your ability to construct which is half the battle. Sure you could high roll consistently but there was far too much RNG involved; many high cost spells available for it are NOT universal value; Commencement, Deck of Chaos, Guardian Animals, Celestial Alignment and even Survival of the Fittest are good examples. If high cost spells added later in this year are more universal Lunacy could become oppressive again.
Also yes, the meta is figured out and fairly limited, but many of the meta decks right now are not that straightforward to pilot which does mean they might not be the best for every player to pick.
The Sundays series were basically all great, but the Finals was especially cool. Very nice back and forths.
