The 2020 edition of the Hearthstone Grandmasters got started this weekend. 48 of the best players in the world began the eight week event with a total of $500,000 and a ticket to the World Championship on the line. The action featured a drastically overhauled format which saw players start with Swiss Rounds on Wednesday and Thursday. Players were then divided into groups and completed the Group Stages on Friday and Saturday. This led to a 4-man single elimination tournament for each region which wrapped up Sunday.
As expected, the weekend was largely dominated by the presence of Hearthstone's newest class: Demon Hunter. Almost all lineups revolved around either winning with Demon Hunter, or countering it. Warlock, Druid, Warrior, and Priest also saw high representations in the tournament Meta. With a round of nerfs already announced, it will be interesting to see how next week's Meta shapes out.

Road to Playoffs
You can see below how the Grand Masters is going to work for this stage and the next 2 weeks. It starts with the points being given out, where everyone that even made the weekend play will receive 3 points. We then have the graphic displaying how the Divisions and the road to the playoffs will work.
In every Region the players will be divied up according to points from the first 3 weeks. Meaning the Top 8 points players will go into Division A and the Bottom 8 points players will go to Division B. They then fight it out within their Division over the next 4 weeks before the Playoffs and Relegation matches will be played.
- First place: 6 points.
- Second place: 5 points.
- Third and Fourth place: 4 points.
- Fifth through Eighth place: 3 points.
- Ninth through Twelfth place: 2 points.
- Thirteenth through Sixteenth place: 1 points.
According to the above, it is pretty safe to say that this weekend's winners, Empanizado, BoarControl and Ryvius have made great strides towards being in their Region's Division A, with all of them getting 6 points.

odd on the ladder all i see are rezz priests. in tourmanents no rezz priests? I guess blizzard doesnt like the pros to promote the cancer.
Rez priest is easy beatable if you know what you're doing
patience required and I dont have that. I instnat concede. add and flame them.
I am subscribed to their youtube channel, got to watch it all live
It didn't help that I never saw information or a link to the stream on the Blizzard app. Usually when it's playing they will have the option to watch it in the app and a link to go to the stream itself. Plenty of information about the Innvitational, but never saw mention of "Grandmasters is playing right now!" so I didn't know it was playing anywhere until it was already over.
Same goes for me. I typically tune into these events, but I had no idea it had happened until I saw the thread here listing the winners of week one.
Same. I keep up with the hearthstone news but I had no idea what to watch and when.
Was there no demon hunter in this tournament?
I'm a little unsure what you mean. Every player listed above brought a Demon Hunter variant.
Oh wow, it is over and I have not seen a single game being broadcasted?!
edit: Okay, the question got answered... Youtube live, trololo...
Blizzard struck a deal with YouTube that resulted in all official tournaments being exclusively shown there and not on twitch anymore.
The move has been, to use a cautious term, controversial. Many people seem to have prefered twitch. It also doesn't help that, as of yet, there is no link between YouTube and you Battle.Net Account, so free packs for watching aren't a thing anymore.
I mean, with YouTube a freaking lot of more people could see it free, so that's good. And about the free packs, well, uncle Blizz lately it's quite generous giving free packs (and also the new rank system gives you more), so losing those packs isn't a big deal (and those packs were according the results, so not for everyone).
I've yet to figure out Ryvius' Galakrond Priest's win condition...
Delay, get Galakrond, then get infinite value from priest minions.
I think the names are not the same from what was showed on the stream, but I remember that there was one guy who went 0-3 with Res priest. It was so sad haha
If you see ANY standard Priest deck with more than 50% win rate then you can safely assume that it has no win condition, you just play cards and hope the opponent can't kill you.
Wow mirror matches....great meta
I always go for HS news to the hearthpwn site, you guys do so much better job covering all things HS and explainig, than official blizzard sites. Keep up the good job.
still would had wish it was on twitch.
Cool the ole secret tournament that nobody knows about because of the YouTube deal.
