I also didn't have her. I slightly adjusted the deck to help fish out Moonfang for more fun. Even if hit hits your Circus Amalgam, it's not bad.

SlydE posted a message on Classic format: What to expect?Posted in: General DiscussionHow was heartstone played way back in June 2014? Some users here might not even have started playing the game back then, and everybody, including myself, needs a refresher about which decks and mechanics dominated the game.
First some general points:
1: Some of the cards were AMAZING in their unnerfed forms, and would even be all over Wild today. These include: Leeroy Jenkins, Innervate, Force of Nature, Hunter's Mark, Wild Growth, Soulfire and Starving Buzzard, Big Game Hunter and others.
2: There were almost no synergies, the notable exception was beasts in hunter.
3: There was almost no card creation, with Thoughtsteal the only real exception.
4: There were almost no random minion summons, Bane of Doom saw little play.
5: The powerlevel of "curve" minions was a LOT lower than in later expansions. Oasis Snapjaw was played in midrange hunter, and Sen'jin Shieldmasta was an absolute staple in defensive decks.
6: Lord Jaraxxus was the only option for grinding out your opponent with value.
7: Only druid had vibale turn 7-plays. Other classes had to resort to cards like sunwalker and cairne bloodhoof, awaiting ragnaros the firelord on turn 8.8: The "a board in a card" and resurrect mechanics were still far off, and did not take off until N'Zoth, the Corruptor. The minions you put in your deck were the ones you would see in play, once each, which was a reason why Faceless Manipulator saw so much play.
So where to start deckbuilding for the new format? 2 classes really stand out, Druid and Hunter.
Here is a fairly standard double combo druid Frezzar used at Dreamhack Summer:
DreamHack Summer 2014 - Ro8 - Frezzar Druid Unknown Deck by Fluxflashor - Jun 18, 2014Minion (18) - 1x Bloodmage Thalnos

But it was also possible to take a more defensive approach, like Reynad did in the same tournament. Some players also made compromises between the 2 approaches, running 1 or 1,5x the FON/SR combo:
DreamHack Summer 2014 - Group Stage - Reynad Druid Unknown Deck by Fluxflashor - Jun 18, 2014Minion (22) - 1x Cairne Bloodhoof

What about face hunter? Yes, it was there! This is was Amaz brought, and it is hard to make it any faster:

But more beast-focused midrange decks like this one from Reynad were also a very solid option, as well as taking elements from both approaches:

And then, there was an old favourite of mine: the Leeroy Jenkins combo handlock. Giants, taunts and big burst damage, what is there not to love in this archetype?

Others might miss the old miracle rogue decks more, a highly technical combo deck where counting damage and turns was absolutely crucial:

What about shaman? They had their bidding on a midrange deck with overload focus, note the burst from Doomhammer+Rockbiter Weapon.

Warrior was not in its best spot with all the midrange decks, as they had a hard time keeping up with the steady stream of threats followed by burst, but they did exist. Note that double Brawl was not invented yet, but time will tell if it was an oversight or if it actually made sense at the time:

In general, this was a MIDRANGE metagame, but with a lot of focus on burst combos. I It will be interresting to see if the best deckbuilders of the day reached the highest powerlevel of the patch, or if the decks above can be improved with the knowledge and tools of today, using the old cards.
I am certainly looking forward to revisiting the olden days of heartstone! -

Suskis posted a message on Ideas for people playing since beta and collecting every card?Posted in: General DiscussionYeah my dude, the "meaning" of a full collection is being able to play any deck you want, no matter if it's tier 1 or the hottest meme you can think of. If you're in for the gameplay then you can play literally anything you want and if you're in for the collection portion then congrats, if you own every card then you're already set until next expansion and there are some achievements for collecting cards.
I wish I had. I stopped collecting all the cards at Rastakhan. The changes they made to the game made it impossible to collect every card unless you spend a lot of money. I used to pay the advanced offers like 50Eur for 70 packs, but after the change, the droprate was so abysmal and the number of new card they release each year has changed too much for my pockets.

Vision136 posted a message on The misconception of the Tavern PassPosted in: General DiscussionWell, there's the 900-1000 XP daily from Daily Quests, and then there's the 5500 from Weekly Quests every week. So saying you get 2 low roll quests weekly, that's 12,300 XP weekly if you just complete quests.
12,300 x 17 weeks estimated between expansions is 208,900 XP from quests alone.
Now if you subtract that from the roughly 440,000 you say is needed to hit 350, you get 231,100 remaining XP needed through play time.
You can achieve such numbers through roughly 144 hours per month, or roughly 6 hours of Hearthstone per day.
That is a large amount of time, but more hardcore players would find it much more feasible to do than the 9 hours previously assumed from just play time alone.
(Keep in mind I'm going off the numbers you provided, as I am not super familiar with the XP system and if the Tavern Pass affects these numbers or not, so I apologize if my numbers are off.)

Ythiel posted a message on Possible to use Amazon Coins anymore?Posted in: General DiscussionUsually what happens is that when there is an update for the PC version of the game, the same update for the mobile version of HS will come like a day or two later and until then it is impossible to have the mobile running on the "current" version. That means purchases with amazon coins are delayed by a few days. At least that is my experience.

skymarshall78 posted a message on Possible to use Amazon Coins anymore?Posted in: General DiscussionAdmittedly haven't used it since December, but Bluestacks on PC is really smooth for amazon purchases. They even have hearthstone all over their installation splash screens so they know exactly who they're targeting.
I have never owned an android device and have use Amazon coins for hearthstone purchases since GVG.

ALLUSERNAMESTAKEN posted a message on People who don't play wild, do you disenchant cards that rotate out?Posted in: General DiscussionI've been playing for a while so I have an amazing collection of legendaries. My first few years I would dust legendaries I never used. Now I regret that because there's always some deck archetype I'd want to try, but can't. So now I save all 90 percent of legendaries. I would hate this game if I had to dust my old cards all the time to keep up in standard. Duels is a great mode for old folks like me - or those that want something different and that can give their cards more value.

b1ak1ce posted a message on Book of Heroes are a poor alternative to AdventuresPosted in: General DiscussionIts not great but I view it as a "catching their breath" piece of content. Hopefully, with the extra time they have due to its release schedule, we get something really neat next.

HMcCool posted a message on Book of Heroes are a poor alternative to AdventuresPosted in: General DiscussionYeah, I spent hours in those 'Dungeon Run' adventures, i realy liked them, I hope they will return one day, although we have Duels mode now.
Exactly, I they they are the best style. Even adventures like the one we had for Ashes of Outland was fun as they had a cool heroic mode and story, Book of heroes should be a fun free bonus alongside the main adventure of an expansion IMO!

Thanks SCWT_FTW. Do you know how gold cards fit into this? Specifically, if I dust a gold card of a rare set (and don't then currently have 2 of that rare card), can that card still be eligible for duplication production from non-golden rares I open? If it's not, it almost completely nerfs disenchanting golden cards, because odds are you'll never be able to fill back in with non-golden versions. This would dramatically impact the amount of dust we're able to get to fill in our collections.

This is really too bad. Any suggestions on other resources to use to get a sense of the meta. I can usually only fit in couple games a day so I'd value a resource to give me a sense of the meta.

With the new non-dupe rule, does anybody know if disenchanting gold cards will it still leave open a "missing" slot so that I can fill in my collection with by opening packs and relying on the non-dupe rule? For example, if I have 1 non-gold and 1 gold card, and I disenchant the gold card, will the card still be considered "missing" so I can collect the missing copy with packs? Or will disenchanting the gold card mean that it won't be considered "missing" and thus I'll only get it randomly after I have all other cards of the rarity?
I'd like to know because I I'd rather get the dust from the gold card, but I do want a complete (non-gold) collection. Ideally, I'd like to dust all my gold cards and still fill in my entire collection with non-gold cards under the duplication protection.
If it doesn't work that way, there's little point in dusting gold cards because I'd need to fill in the their slot and realistically won't ever naturally collect the missing card without duplication protection.
Thanks.

I think the theory is that if you dust your golden cards before the "non-duplicate" change takes place, they will NOT be counted as "in your collection", so you are guaranteed to eventually be awarded them as you fill in your collection. But if you dust your golden cards after the "non-duplicate" change takes place, then they WILL be counted "in your collection", so you won't be guaranteed to get them again (it will be completely random if you get them again). So now is a chance to unlock the dust in your golden cards and still eventually get them back, due to the non-duplicate update.
I'd be interested in the community's comments. I operated on this believe when they made the announcement and dusted all my golden cards where I didn't already have 2 non-golden.
The other thing to keep in mind is the timing Blizzard will count what's "in your collection" - which to my knowledge nobody actually knows. Today is the day change is supposed to go into effect, though as of now it doesn't look like it's rolled out yet.
