Congrats Blizzard, you're going to completely kill tournament play. One deck with 2x 5 card sideboards? Best of 3? What will you get?
Stale, boring, quick matches that will predominantly end 2-0, and tournaments that will be 90% a roll of the dice on deck selection. Unless something MAJOR is coming in the rotation, there's no way pilots are going to be able to build in enough variation on a 5 card sideboard to swing a bad matchup.
It looks like you've just ripped Magic without even crunching the numbers or put much thought into it. Was there even any consultation with the community? I'd have assumed there'd at least have been a "pro forum" to discuss the potentiality of the proposed format, but I'm getting the feeling that's not the case.
"....we're eager to implement community feedback to improve it as needed throughout 2019" screams of throwing sh*t at the proverbial wall (priest?) and seeing what sticks.
I'm inclined to agree, at least for the most part.
What will most definitely happen is that there will be a lot less diversity of decks because you simply can't bring any deck that has auto-lose matchups. For instance quest rogue or mecha'thun lock in the current meta.
I think it's an interesting idea (although not at all original) to articficially allow for a sideboard, however I'm not so sure that the current system can support this in a way where it will make for interesting tournaments.
Yep magic has 15 card sideboard for a deck of 60 cards when most of the time said deck is like 37 cards cause the rest are lands there for the sideboard is like 33 to 40% of ur deck. There is enough room to swing the deck chances of beating ur opponent. 5 cards for a 30 card deck does nothing except push a more polarized deck choice.
You could bring even warlock, and take one sideboard with c'thun and one sideboard with X2 voidlord X2 cube and umbra or skull. In general i can see some decks trying this odd into non odd sideboards for specific matchups, maybe with warrior you could switch to chtun gunship? Idk

You can't take cube and voidlords for even warlock. How can this EVEN be a good idea?
and you know that how? have you seen a tournament in this format? have you played it in hearthstone?
at least wait until the first tournament with the new rules before posting any criticism, how can you people actually think they didn't test it and discuss it with players or pros? because they weren't saying anything? then let me ask you if you ever heard of this little thing you have to sign often when working with someone called NDA
I'm baffled that some of you think that implementing new stuff like this is as simple as coming in to work one day and saying "I had a dream last night, let's do it this way", no, that's not how it works in any company on any level, grow the fuck up and think about posting or wait until you have 10+ years of experience in the field before accusing people of this and that

You sub out genn of course. It's the most dramatic way to change your deck significantly with 5 cards.
It took them "long enough" to make a bad copy of something that actually works. They could have done that like years ago.
5 cards won't change a thing.
So bad.

Fun to see all these casual players condemning a format they can’t properly comprehend.
We have seen community tournaments with sideboards of 10, which all the pros participating unanimously agreed was too many.
Personally I’m very excited to see how this will play out, and it will actually get me back into watching tournament play.
This will not be the final form, thinking that is ignorant. If you’ve ever held a job anywhere that develops a product, you should also know this. It takes iterations to perfect, but I’m very excited about this first rendition.

Ha! "We're pissed off Blizzard! We demand Tournaments!"
"Sure, here ya go"
"Bastards! That's not what we asked for! You've ruined EVERYTHING!"
At least there's *some* movement towards it. For fucks sake.. .
My favourite reply so far! :D
I'll definitely be playing tournies, and it WILL be a lot easier for me to enter them as a F2P player. But on paper comparing the current format to the new format, it just feels watered down, rigid, and too dependent on everything that happens *before* the games.
I may be wrong, lot of the time am, I'm here to learn and get myself a more informed decision. Hope it's great!

Your input would be well received if it didn't come off so elitest. Your assumptions are poor, and well all assumptions are stupid at the best of times.
Well yee master of the cards.....I hereby invite you to actually contribute and give a short little explanation for the casual condemners! Enlighten them so they too can can understand the excitement of what is to come! :)

I guess the NDA has expired....baffle away my friend:
And yeah, on the surface it does look a bit "I had a dream...." considering it is a format that already exists extensively across the card-verse. Wouldn't you think a presser would have so much more impact if it contained phrases such as, "we conducted numerous workshops with a cross section of the community", or "the pro forum held at the recent Winter HCT event provided us with some great feedback about the proposed model", or even what someone else has stated in this thread, "part of the reasoning behind the side board numbers is based on previous tournaments that were conducted with side boards of 10 cards. It was unanimously decided after these events that 10 was too of a number".
Shit, give me Blizzard's number, they need to give me a PR job.

The problem here is a failure to acknowledge how small a percentage of the playerbase has ever played in tournaments.
The devs felt like they needed a new format because they had been using the format for years, but they fail to take into account that this year, tens of thousands of folks who have never played Conquest would have started playing for the first time. The 1% of 1% who frequently play on the tournament circuit may be a little tired of the format, but it would have read as fresh and new for most of us.
Under phantom pressure to create a new format, I think it is likely that they have come out with a worse alternative.
Opening the tournament scene to others did not require an adjustment of format.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.

Not really sure how it came off elitist, was not the intent. It should came off as anything but elitist, because I’m a filthy casual like the rest of them :)
For that very reason, I didn’t judge the format or the concepts thereof, because none of us can truly comprehend it till we try it.
As I said I’m excited to see how it plays out, I won’t be arrogant enough to try to tell you how it will work out.
....garbage and not thought out at all!

Also someone mentioned OddWarrior and as side cards Skulking Geist...
Against MechaTuhn Warrior doesn’t need a lot of armor anyways.
