I have no idea how I managed to forget which forum it was in. I guess I used to just access it through the "recent threads" link and it's not listed there atm
you still get bonus even if you dont play i not played wild for like 1 year and i got 5x star bonus
but i only got 7 star bonus on standard and on plat 10 1 star now with no bonus allrdy so gonna take me 60 wins more then i lose to get legned from now on + i had to win like 20 game to get here i had a break for 2 morths i was legned 2 morths ago so sucks to have to be so far behind now i was rank 10 last morth becouse of simi afking just doing my quest
You only got that bonus because of the changeover - next month you'll get duck eggs if you don't play Wild
Just realised I was wrong! My bad.
It would definitely be a kick in the nutsack, but I think the climb after a full season off would have to be taken in stages. The first season back would be horrible, but at least you'd have a multiplier the next season.
But saying that, I can't defend the new system against what you say. It's designed to keep the gears grinding with massive penalties for anyone that takes any time off.
It's great for one thing only - regaining your rank from the previous season.
As for the rewards, they're great - but they're not going to look as great next season as they do this season - partly because they're new and more so because of the first time rewards that are coming too.
No, shit the masses can understand. Perfect example. All good, you enjoy the ride on the dumb train.
Effectively when you get a 50g you reroll it - and have a 50% chance of getting a 60g. With a 50/50 split that means everyone now has a 25% chance to reroll any quest into a 60g quest. Of course 50% of the original quests you won't want to reroll (they're already 60g), but the odds aren't in our favour for sure!
yeah they did that for 2 years and the game almost went to nonexistence, I don't think they would make such dumb mistakes anymore. Let's see what is their explanation for this change :/
My guess is that it's a case of they had no idea of the implication of adding the box full of 60g quests to the current system and they decided to try and sneak the change in when everyone was distracted with rotation funs. The timing smells fishy for sure. Not a new tactic by any means.
For the new and great things that they are bandstanding about you can find changes that essentially counter-act those changes that are being snuck in the back door.
you might be right, i need another month to retry lol. i still have a x2 bonus in legend, showing over the legend rank, weird.
You were high legend then? What was your legend rank?
You're going to get a multiplier until you return to the rank you finished the previous season in - regardless of what that was. It's just a little difficult to decipher what that is with the change over - it'll be clear next month.
I repeated Blizzard's own argument: that they still wanted to give the players a sense of progression. And I think they've achieved that. That's what I meant by 'working'.
Well this just pretty much proves the OPs point that the ranked system is redundant - as stated by Blizzard. "Sense" of progression. They came to the conclusion that an MMR based ranking system would not be visually enticing to encourage people to play more, so they hid it behind a pointless ladder system with pretty colours and numbers people can count on their fingers. Way to cater to the masses to maximise your cash flow Blizzard! :D
There are 10-20 million active players in any given season. Just get 1-5% of them to sign your petition, and maybe Blizzard will consider it... I'm personally going to see how it goes before I throw a tantrum, because that's what reasonable people do.
Reasonable people also don't serve up shit sandwiches
Well done! I think it's going to be harder for non-legend players to reach the rank though - that multiplier stacks like compound interest and when it runs out the grinds is going to be harder than the old system. The great thing about the new system is it should be super easy for players to tread water at a specific rank each month.
If you were legend last month, then you would get 11 stars per win and -1 star per loss. So with a 50% win rate you would ascend the ladder rather quickly. Your first win would move you up to bronze 7 (with 2 stars); then you lose and go to bronze 7 (1 star) then you win and go to bronze 4 (3 stars); then you lose and go bronze 4 (2 stars); and so on. New players wouldn't get the star bonus in the first month so they would have quite a grind, but returning players should get back to their previous ranks pretty easily. Not sure what your complaint is all about.
As another example it would take 66 games for a R5 player from last month to reach the equivalent Diamond-10 - which is a crap tonne faster than the previous system. Still not as fast as everyone (theoretically) going on a concede-fest
Same W/L in old system would've gotten the player from R10 to mid R8!
Yes, but the purpose is not clear at all - why go from zero each month when they know our MMR?
As only a few people seem to have figured out - the ranking system is arbitrary for the entire duration of the multiplier. I suspect the only reason it's structured that was is to provide a base line for the stacked rewards as that's the only thing the ranking system serves. Blizzard stated that matchmaking is based on MMR until the multiplier is exhausted, which clearly states the ranking system is redundant until that point!
