Looking at the most recent Vicious Syndicate report, the meta is dominated by Priest and Warlock, both of whom run mostly control at the moment, while Druid and Mage both run several control decks as well. This means about half the meta is composed of control decks, which the Hearthpwn forums have been longing for ever since Hearthstone launched. Gone are the days of pirate warrior, aggro shaman, and face hunter pushing the average match time down to five minutes! I'm loving it, and I hope you are too!
lol what are you talking about this isn't a control meta. it's a "see who can cheat out the most stuff for free" meta.
malygos druid, razakus, OTK mage, cubelock...these are not control decks. cubelock barely fits into that category perhaps. barely. it can still high roll and kill you by turn 6.
Blizzard should make a special stream lessons or youtube videos in which they explain the the only way hs should be played is with supa dupa 1000 IQ control/combo homebrewed decks and 30 minutes long match is a minimum time period that proves you're not braindead blah blah something etc.
I only play wild nowadays at high ranks so I am very much enjoying the rank 5 clown fiesta in standard. Shaman and overload cards all day everyday! :p

Classic control as it was known is dead but for a few barely played archetypes from a handful of classes, mostly warrior. Most control decks these days play like combo decks where instead of playing to exhaust your opponents' resources like classic control warrior, paladin and priest used to they're more akin to old school combo druid where they simply bide their time and stymie your gameplan until they can outright kill you or even chip you to death if you draw badly. Control metas post naxx were never a thing. Even anyfin paladin, which was considered one of the heaviest "control" decks out there when it was in rotation, wasn't a true control deck.
I dislike the increased deck cost this rotation, but I can't say I'm surprised with the rising trend of expensive competitive decks when blizzard continues to make epic neutrals of insane quality that are simply too good for their own good. This can, ironically, be viewed as something that's in the favor of dust-poor players, since they can more easily prioritize their crafting to make impactful cards and feel a sense of accomplishment...but this is all at the cost of the truly unique and class-centric gameplay that hearthstone enchanted its early players with.
I'm not really a competitive player by any means, since I've yet to consistently hit rank 10, but from my experience I feel like this is one of the better metas that's been around in a while. It'll be even better once razakus and anduin rotate, since it removes the need for control warlocks to exist and otherwise dominate other archetypes from emerging. Every deck archetype I've seen has a clear gameplan and a clear weakness, with the more competitive t1 decks having more complex win conditions to defend from of course. Overall it makes playing against them as someone who plays almost exclusively slow decks actually enjoyable, since for the most part there are usually multiple points where that gameplan can be interacted with to some extent. Studying existing decks, identifying possible win conditions against them and then building my own decks to achieve them is what I enjoy most in HS. That and confusing the hell out of people when I play pirate ramp druid or control dragon hunter.

I completely agree with the cheat out big minions meta, which i honestly think is really cool. The timmy’s Get a chance to shine finally... big minions have always been cool, just usually not tier 1. But how can cubelock kill you by turn 6?
Turn 5 (going second) drop weapon or lackey.
turn 6 (assuming opponent did not silence lackey or destroy your weapon), hit in the face with doom guard for 5. Cube it and dark pact. Hit for 10 more (total of 15 damage).
how would a cubelock do 15 face damage before that, though? Am i missing something?
This is not a control meta, but it's the closest we've ever been to one, although there will always be aggro and midrange decks, so it is not entirely possible for full control meta.
"Gone are the days of pirate warrior, aggro shaman, and face hunter pushing the average match time down to five minutes!"
Having a lot of fun and success with Senfglas Facehunter this season. Solid 65.9% winrate against priests and 56.7% against warlock in 142 games until now. Don´t know what control meta you are talking about, but yeah, i like it. Killing priests on T4 and T5 is a lot of fun.
Hmm - Not sure what you've been told but FViscious Syndicate currently rates Aggro Paladin, Murloc Paladin and Zoolock as 3 of the 4 top tier decks right now. The fourth is Tempo Rogue which is a kind of aggro-hybrid.
I don't think all classes have benefited from this expansions Recruit mechanic equally, with Warlocks, Druids and Paladins being clear winners.
Coupled to the fact that the last meta decks haven't seen any weakness (as best I can tell) I feel this is a very very odd meta. I'm really not sure how I feel about it but will be flat out glad to see Anduin lose his perch.

"Cheat out big minions" decks like cubelock, big priest and ramp druid are all control decks. Razakus evolved into combo prioritizing burst and cycle, and Spiteful priest is midrange (not tempo because of the lack of earlygame removal.)
The meta has been a lot slower before, especially in the week between the nerfs and the introduction of Standard, that was a disgusting greed party!

I hate it every deck costs 15k dust to play
It's not a control meta, it's a meta where some control/aggro/tempo decks are good.
Look at this thing and let me know what you think!

Join me at Out of Cards!
this is a combo deck meta, not control. and considering secret mage and aggro paladin are everywhere i wouldnt call it control meta anyways
Where is the option in the poll "I hate the control meta and I never wanted one!"?

Not a Control Deck in sight in Tier 1 right now.
