Yogg Saron was played in Whispers till Karazhan in serious meta decks, mostly Druid and Mage (but even Warrior lol). It was on average so good it decided tournaments. Only after it was nerfed and you couldn't reliably get a decent number of spells it was no longer used.
So I think this card is a serious contender for being used. Decks are a bit different than they were then, but you can still see this card as a boardclear + some value on average.
Mage: Mages have mastered the arcane arts and use their wide range of spells to take on even the most aggressive of opponents. Their defensive cadre is limited—while a good Mage usually has a useful tool to deal with any situation, a great Mage conjures the right tool(rng mess is not exactly the right tool!?) when they need it.
Strengths: Spells (big and small), damage spells, Secrets, board clear
Limitations: Minion swarms
Weaknesses: Healing, Taunt, minion buffs
Blizz now: More Rng stuff, cause you are not fed up yet, with mage hard rnging after 3 years..
Seriously, you make a whole preaching about classes' identities, and the first card of the next expansion is just a meme rng, not even close to your declared mage identity and after a rng minion swarming mage archetype..
Oh i miss bs..I know many find them powercreep and i agree in many points with them, but at least you you were in charge of your deck, instead of a crazy roulette...And ofc i prefer a mage with a bunch of fresh spells and tricks (not op staff, just balanced) rather than a mage autocasting microwave heated spells, or a mage swarming a full board with randoms to just go face..
Literally exactly what they said about Yogg himself before the release of Old Gods.
I wonder if people will be less angry about it as a Mage-only card.
At the time, Yogg had a few more things going for him, though: (with luck) he was a tempo play, and you could manipulate your luck with more spells.
Here, you're capped at 10 spells (so you reduce your chances of clears), and you aren't "guaranteed" the 7/5 body.
You weren't necessarily guaranteed the 7/5 body with Yogg either...I can't tell you how many times I played him only for him to cast a twisting or a morph spell on himself but it was quite a bit. Not to mention all those pesky kill commands and other hunter removal spells he's accidentally cast on himself too.
Yogg was a bad ass and fun to play card though regardless. In a game match up were your opponent was supposed to be "favored", Yogg tended to change things drastically.

So many spells do 5 dmg and kill yogg, It's casts ends if he dies(sole reason I cant play yogg decks often even though i really want to), dumbass spells like myra's and cataclysm ruin rng spell pool.

In Standard the only fun killer spell I see for now is Myra.

I read of few of those str/weakness paragraphs. Mostly bullshit. Str is spot on. Limit: Khadgar is literally that. Vex Crow is literally that. Conjuring is literally that. That +spelldmg minion summon is literally that. For 1 mana i can summon 2 0/2 with taunt... Weakness: Vs?-Healing makes sense. All aggressive classes/decks are going to dislike healing(though with these braindead hunter decks and bomb warrior, does it really matter), Who cares about taunt when i can freeze your board and throw a fireball directly into your face like 6 turns in a row. I see minion buffs considered as help preventing board clears. Doomsayer frost nova doesnt care. Using-half the classes have healing, Funny reading this after Jaina rotated. She also has armor tricks but once again Healing makes sense I guess. Taunt: You can put taunts in any deck. This is stupid. Mage definitely doesnt need minion buffs but technically i consider luna's pocket, splitting image, conjuring minion buffs not in a pure stat on one body way but increasing value of one single minion on board. Reducing cost all minion in your deck is such an insane buff.

Well this card and others like it either don't fit the Mage identity mold or break it completely. Kalacgos into this spell being Discovered and then played, is silly as heck. That's basically a Yogg like effect.
The fact that you COULD play 2 of these in your deck is silly as well. This is essentially another board clear for Mage, though its random and it could completely wiff too.
These cards are mostly meant to be fun, but also very frustrating to lose to cards like this.
If you are desperate and the opponent has a full board and you have nothing, you ALWAYS play this. This has little to no risk here for you. If you clear the board, big win. If you clear the board, then generate a board for yourself, even better. If you end up getting nothing out of this, you were probably going to lose anyhow.
This is a huge RNG, Casino Mage type of card that most times does not work out for you. But when it does, makes opponents very frustrated.

I was obviously talking about pre-nerf Yogg. Post-nerf yogg is bad and wasn't played successfully.
A lot of people hated on Yogg before he was released and said he wouldn't see play. This card is like pre-nerf Yogg whose effect isn't impacted by board clears, so I can see it being played as a big bomb. It's so random that it likely won't be breaking any metas, but I predict that we will see a lot of this card in highlight reels.

Yeah, but this card potentially determining Championship matches is not what I want to see. The percentage is very low of always being good for you, but if it happens, that's the time everyone will talk about.
This card could have been so much better, if they wanted to make it interesting rather than purely random.

For 10 mana, it should generally be good for you. In fact, it should be very good for you. It should be about as good as Ultimate Infestation.
In practice, while the details won't always be as consistent as UI, the overall outcome will often be pretty close in terms of power level.

One thing to mention is the fact that in this rotation in particular, there are very few "bad" spells that it can cast. There are a few very high cost spells like the new Plague of Death, not to mention that there's a lot of twinspells and even if it doesn't do anything, you will still get a 2nd copy of the spell in your hand. Oh yeah and this will get discovered and randomly generated all the time, so yeah I voted meta-defining!

ultimate infestation is one of the most insanely broken cards they've ever printed. A card doesn't need to be as good or better than one of the most broken cards ever to see play or also be broken

My comment was about the statement that there was a low chance that it would be good for you. (I disagreed.)
I never said anything about whether it would see play or that it's not powerful. It is clearly quite powerful. That is actually the point of my comment.
I do think "broken" is a bit strong for either Puzzle Box or UI, especially since UI was never nerfed.

When an epic spell is better than a legendary old god...
Developers' inability to balance is one thing; players choosing to abuse it is another.
This is obviously for the LuLs I say bring it on.
By the way, Deck of Wonders can cast itself. So why can't this?

What happens if Puzzle Box of Yogg Saron randomly plays another Puzzle Box of Yogg Saron? Will it trigger 20 random spells?
