The difference is that those cards are played outside of the adventure mode, so it is not necessary to wait for the actual bosses to evalutate their interaction with the current cards.
hmmm. im not that happy with the new cards. after all aoe/swing cards just got worse. just imagine a druid:
turn 1: coin wild
turn2: blackwing
turn 3: hungry
turn 4: loatheb/curruptor
turn 5: emperor
turn 6: boom/ancient
turn 7: combo/rag
turn 8: combo
and innervate just make it worse
Fun fact: There are exactly 0 epics in this set.
Someone around here hypothesized that was to make it easier to create the Gold set.
but the innovation is on 2x class cards for each class.
I found it pretty decent
They'll definitely have a few absolutely needed cards (Loatheb, Sludge Belcher, Mad Scientist) or else no one would bother to buy it... Imp Gang Boss will be in every Warlock, but there's still the next Loatheb yet to be revealed, just because almost every card shown and both legendaries are pretty bad so far doesn't mean all of them will be
That Imp Gang Bang value
Hopefully we'll see some great class cards like Death's Bite and Webspinner
is there going to be a heroic reward like the card back in naxx?
Yes, a cardback, like before.
Two thoughsteals and Nefarian, you might actually get a shield block to go with the shield slam.
I agree, the cards we've seen so far are much worse than Naxx, but then again I'm hoping the cards they haven't released yet are much better than the current ones
With now 14 cards released, I must admit that I am seriously underwhelmed by BRM (almost at the point of regretting the pre-order): Till now I only see cards that are 1. very dependant on a specific archetype to be viable (Dragons) 2. Cards that are borderline garbage (Axeflinger, Dragon's Breath) or 3. Cards that seem, at best, fringe playable (Core Rager, Flamewaker, Imp Gang Boss) ... this is not much for almost 50% of the total cards ...
I yet miss a single card that is just plain "wow" on it's own (or in existing archetypes) - along the lines of Loatheb, Undertaker, Nerubian Egg, Haunted Creeper, Mad Scientist ...
If those cards are yet to come: Damn it Blizz, why do you show the mediocre cards first?!
So far I am underwhelmed as well, but Naxxramas was not that "wow" either. kel Thuzad felt broken ans loatheb was awesome. All the other cards you mentioned were either considered bad or "okay". The value appeared later. Similar it is going to be here. Still waiting for at least one "wow" card. I am sure we going to see it very Soon. 4 Legendaries to be unrevealed and well. Cannot imagine nefarion to suck :D
I know, some evaluations were strange in Naxx: But at least Loatheb and scientist were instantly judged insane by many streamers and good players, the same goes for undertaker (even if to a lesser extent), egg and creeper were mixed, I would say ... Funny was sludge belcher though, as very few initially saw the potential: I, myself, was very thrilled when I fist saw the card, but kind of started to question my judgement when everybody was calling it "meh" (in the end I was right ;) )
So yes, I agree to your "wait and see" attitude to some extent, but I cannot keep myself from having a rather poor impression of the set ... I feel like Blizzard is in some way already anticipating the "power creep" problem they will surely get in the future. This way to handle it will be a trap though, sooner or later the way to go has to be "formats", like in MTG: one format with the last 4-5 expansions and one "eternal" format (that will usually not change much with any expansion)
I see it less dramatic. I mean come on, them are goign to put some "cream" cards in the expansion, simply because them want to earn money out of it. If there would not be any "must have cards" like in Naxx, people would simply skip this expansion without any regrets. That is not going to be an option, 100% sure of it. Therefore the "wait and see" simply because I am sure we going to see some awesome stuff soon enough. It must be like that.
This is my hope as well: at least some cards (in the later wings) must be good, otherwise you could really skip: the general tendency is there - out of the cards spoiled to date I would not be surprised if not a single one makes it into a tier 1 deck... (this hypothesis includes "dragons" being bad...)
It's always hard to judge how good certain cards are before they come out, because were basing them on the current meta. But the meta always changes whenever there's an expansion, so I'm willing to wait and see. Especially since we've only seen one of the legendaries. Remember, many of the nax cards are mediocre. (Does anyone even use Wailing Soul?)
yep, I am this kind of tryhard competitive Idiot ;) I really mostly care about winning and being competitive with my cards in this game: I didn't even try heroic in Naxx ... I already considered the time to get my cards a waste and only wanted to go back to laddering and arena while I played the wings ... So yes, if the cards are crap, BRM is a fail for me, no matter how funny the "adventure" might be ...
Hungry Dragon insane?! not that sure tbh, you need to be able to reliably and immediately take out the 1 drop ... just imagine playing the card and getting it fireballed afterwards ... then you even gave a board to your "reacting" opponent
and just to anticipate the comments: Winning is FUN for me ;)
