This would probably be balanced at 3 health, mostly to help it in buff decks.
As of now it's a bit on the weak side, and given it's total reliance on a combo for usefulness it could use a better best-case scenario.
the problem with this minion i see is it works in warrior if the minions it spawned weren't really bad in warrior. i could see a priest deck buff it a bit and put taunt on it but besides that it is meh at best. overall i would say there is just better things from classic packs.
I could use this dark in a dragon deck IF it would be a dragon. But it isn't...
The name is DRAGON egg, but sadly it does not count as one, so it will not buff cards like blackwing technician etc.
this has got to be one of the coolest looking cards in hearthstone
Warrior mostly. Makes for good tempo.
Is Swipe supposed to kill the Whelp summoned by Dragon Egg? The egg is targeted (4 damage), summons a Whelp and then the Whelp dies.
it has a neat combo with Warsong Commander + Inner Rage/Task Master. In a perfect situation it will deal 2*3 damage.
Not anymore...
I just the combo with Cruel Taskmaster, hehe and game(I was against face hunter).
This will be an integral piece to combo warrior.
I don't see much potential in this card but who knows people could get creative and make this card great. Don't judge a card before it's released. This card could be bad or be good we will have to wait.
you are the one judging it
time for aggro warrior boyz
This is by far the worst 1 drop in the game and one of the worst cards in general. you will never ever see this card played. Enrage cards like worgen infiltrator are never used in constructed because theyre way too slow and they rely on your opponent not being able to remove them on their turn which is very likely because rage minions have lower stats than other ones for balance purposes. But with worgen infiltrator, when youre lucky enough for it to survive and have an activator, you gain windfury and 8 damage minimum to face or something else. With this, it doesn't even attack, so you have to use a spell or a buffer card like argus, taskmaster, or dire wolf to even have it attack a minion, and the chances of it finding a 1 damage minion to do that are extremely slim. And when you do get it to go off, you get a 2 1 HOORRAY. the vast majority of 1 drops are already 2 1 minimum, but they have abilities to go along with it. You can't even combo this with anything. It's being suggested as a warrior card, but the whelps all die to whirlwind and death's bite. The absolute dream is to play turn 1 dragon egg, then your opponent coins or plays a 3 2 and you use cruel task on it and then trade, and thats the absolute perfect circumstance. Soooo many things have to go perfectly for that to happen and all you get in return is two 2 1s on the field, so basically it's just 2 2 1s for 1 mana IN THE PERFECT CIRCUMSTANCE. turn 1 zombie chow is still 10x better in any situation and only relies on 1 card and no circumstances other than drawing it. For dragon's egg to be viable, the whelps would need to be 2 2s, and for the egg to have 4 HP. And it still wouldnt be that great of a card, because people would trade into it without taking damage on their minion.
I believe you are referring to Raging Worgen. The difference between a normal 1-drop and Dragon Egg is the fact that the combined stats of Dragon Egg is at least 2/3. And that's just the minimum. If you can get it to proc twice, (for example as Warrior you could drop this turn 1 and turn 2 Cruel Taskmaster - this gives you a total of three 2/1s), you can easily earn full value. Heck, three 2/1s is much higher than a normal 1-drop's value, and all this comes from one other card, just like Nerubian Egg. It doesn't even have to be perfect as you described - if you have Cruel Taskmaster and Dragon Egg in your starting hand, then it will be a profit regardless. It's a bit like Blademaster + Circle combo for Priest, or Coin + SI.
I was referring to raging worgen, sorry lol. And true, it is actually pretty good with cruel taskmaster, but again that's a 2 card combo that you need in your opening hand. Dragon egg is dramatically outclassed by nerubian egg past turn 3 though. I wouldnt consider it a 2 3 either, because for the first 2 hp, it has no attack. It's still a 1 drop that needs an activator, but doesnt get that much of a pay out when it's the perfect circumstance. Cruel task turn 2 seems amazing, but when you think of it, not only is cruel task one of the most important warrior cards that you need later in the game for executing and finishing off minions, as well as buffing your enrage minions, but cruel taskmaster is already really good if you have a turn 1 war bot. getting a 4 2 for 1 mana. Yet you never see warbot ever used, even though it has mech / hobgoblin synergy.
The main reason Warbot is never used is because Mech Warrior, compared to Control or Combo, sucks way more. Not only that, but a 4/2 at turn 2 easily trades into many removals/1-drops, so doing 4 damage to face (most likely situation) is not worth much, especially for Control. The most common Cruel Taskmaster combo used early game is Armorsmith/Acolyte + Cruel, but that requires you to coin out Armorsmith and use only 2 mana reliably or wait till turn 4 for Acolyte. With Dragon Egg, Taskmaster could be used to secure the board from the very first turns, and maybe mitigate the need for a Fiery War Axe if you do not happen to get it in your opening turns. As I have stated before, I see it a bit like Priest combo cards; Injured Blademaster + Circle of Healing/Light of the Naaru requires two or more cards in the opening hands for the two cards to work (as a combo), but the chances of that happening is fairly low, yet you see both cards being used. Though you can argue that Circle has multiple uses (like with Auchenai Soulpriest), so does Dragon Egg; you could combo it with so many cards, like Death's Bite, Whirlwind, etc. and the same is true for Cruel Taskmaster.
What I am trying to get at is, just because cards require other cards to be of extreme value, does not mean they cannot be of value by themselves. Nerubian Egg, without Power Overwhelming, Abusive, Argus, Rockbiter, Void Terror, or whatever you can think of, is pretty useless, yet you see it being played in many aggro decks. With so much potential Dragon Egg gives to classes that can deal small amounts of damage to their own minions, I think Dragon Egg can be considered a fair, if not good, card and we shall see in the coming days.
I'm not sold on this card at all. It's a nerubian egg for 1 mana less, but you get a 4-2 instead of a 4-4, and of course it's split into two 1-health minions. you have to hit it twice to even get he full effect out of it. That just seems really, really lame to me. The slightest AOE kills its minions, as opposed to the nerubian which has much more health. I can't see this card playing anywhere outside of buff decks, and even there it's still weaker than the nerubian egg.
See, the reason why NE was so good was because due to its effect, nobody wanted to attack it, which made it good for buffs and taunt walls. With this, though, everyone will want to attack it immediately, so that you only get the one whelp. That's not good.
Funny thing is, they actually made a better version of this card for blackrock. Imp Gang Boss - 2-4 which summons a 1-1 every time it gets hit. That's at least passable value - 2-4 makes it harder to get down, and it actually fights back. Compared to that, this egg is pointless, especially when you consider that IGB is a warlock class card, which means it'll be all over the place in warlock decks, taking up the spots of this egg.
Im seeing some more warrior combos with this card and the axe flinger. could be cool to see an aggro warrior rise up
Turn 1 Dragon Egg
Turn 2 Cruel Taskmaster
not a terrible combo ...
