Excellent points. yeah i think this would be the way to go, but would need some sort of Game Design genius i lack to make plausible. also yes i didnt consider that they would not make any move that would cause famous players IE Streamers or Pros to NOT buy stuff, as that's probably at least 50% of the overall profits they make. As a F2P 99% of the time player these things can escape me and are a reminder this trading stuff is hard when it's not physical cards XD
The biggest underlying problems is that a trading system would reduce their profits by more than half. Instead of players needing 150 packs, having enough gold to buy 50 then buying 100 packs, they now only buy 25 packs as they need half the dust to get the same amount of stuff. The amount of players that would go from only pre-purchasing the expansion as the only money they spend on it, to not spending money at all would be far too great to justify without completely overhauling the system likely removing daily quest rewards all together to counteract this.
Another issue that pops up is now it is attractive to hack accounts and cheaply trade cards to another account, so Blizzard would also have to deal with the headache of dealing with compromised accounts. You would likely have a secondary market where bots transfer over this sold cards (non-stolen) as well, you might say people wouldn't do this, but this does happen over on MTGO (MTGO Library) and you trust them with your $3000+ in cards as they are reputable business, maybe this business isn't hacking but could be buying and selling cards for real money hurting blizzard even further and this is what is currently happening on MTGO. Blizzard will also have to deal with extra server and development costs of running this market and somehow not only break even doing this, but somehow be able to profit off this.

This also all assumes that the market remains viable for the typical person. In MANY cases, the economies of these markets fall apart resulting in Leeroys never being in the market long enough for anyone to purchase it, which is great for the Leeroy owner but bad for the folks who need Leeroys. This happens a lot when resellers get into the act of scooping up every item then quickly reselling it for higher. I used to do just that in MMOs. It's, again, fun for the seller and reseller but not so much for folks who really need the items.
All that on TOP of the above and the bugs that could come in since the game isn't naturally designed for the transfer of cards and, thus, will have to have that code shoehorned in. All of the above is when the system works. NOW add in bugs that involve cards disappearing, bugs that let people dupe cards or scam them off of others, and so on.
Yes many games are willing to deal with these situations. However, they typically plan for such things from the get go and most don't let cash shop items be traded easily. And even then the games get swarmed with issues thanks to their trading systems.
Though I do note that I actually haven't seen a trading system in a newer game in a few years now, whether single or multiplayer. So maybe companies aren't willing to deal with the issues anymore.
I've always wondered why card trading it's not implemented in Hearthstone, I've been a Yu-gi-oh fan/player and a Pokèmon GCC fan/player since middle school, and one of the fun parts was trading cards with my friends and other players, because of the high deck diversity ( except for competitive ones ) i always had a chance to give something I didn't use and receive something I needed. Why is it not implemented in Hearthstone? I started playing because of my friends and whenever I got a legendary or and epic I didn't need or liked I wanted to trade it with my friends. One of the issues I can think of would be getting tons of good cards from other accounts that you have created, but I can't think of any more reasons why trading is not an implemented feature.

If we could trade cards at an even rate instead of the steep hill, then Blizzard would make less money unless something else was changed as well. There is no reason why we should be given even more in this free to play game.
It is, after all, not free to collect all cards from all the good decks and free to get a full collection. Just free to play.
This would just lead to people using real money to buy/sell cards on non-blizzard sites like people do with buying gold in wow etc. It makes much better sense for blizzard to keep the money flowing to them and only them instead of sharing a cut with the card farmers that would arise if they implemented such a feature.
It's not a thing because of the dust system. Besides, I am kind of glad that there isn't a trading system as it stops disproportionate increase in value like in regular TCGS. As a YuGiOh collector and player you know just how expensive decks are to make, extra decks alone can cost you a few hundred.

I've only read the first page because i doubt the tangent going on later in thread will be worth reading.
Trading is bad. Game has a good crafting system. For new players I wouldn't mind if they get extra quests a day/week to help catch up with gold to buy packs. (as a perk). Also i wouldn't mind trading a lump of dust for an extra quest. lol.
Damn i didn’t think i would have gotten so much feedback, thanks to all of you who gave constructive answers and to all of those who thought i just wanted more free stuff, that wasn’t the point, i’m a semi-free to player ( sometimes i buy adventures and card packs ) my question was purely for curiosity about a mechanic that’s not implemented.
I’m going to make another thread similar to this so i don’t have to read again 18 pages because i’m a moron and didn’t look up my thread after i posted it
There CAN NOT be a trading system because there is no scarcity of card with the crafting system. That means that if there are 70 million players, there can be 70 million Tirion in a Tier 1 Paladin deck if there is one. Tirion price will be the same as 1600 dust because everyone can just craft it.
TO start a trading system and let player to retain the value of the legendary card, Blizzard will need to get rid of the crafting system, and limit the amount of Tirion drop rate/total card pool to ensure that there is only 0.1% of the total card "printed" are Tirion. This is the only way to retain the "value" of Tirion as a legendary card. So at all time only 0.1% of the players can afford to play a Tier 1 paladin deck. This will only make the game more expensive.
Although this can still be a good thing because not everyone can afford to play a Tier 1 deck. Only people from Rank 1-5 can play a tier 1 deck with Tirion and others have to be more creative unless you buy the Tirion card from the existing player or lucky enough to open one yourself. That can actually create more diversity to the game. However, this game will be even more unfriendly to f2p players. Because f2p player will never ever reach LEGEND or even hope to reach a rank 5.
Anyone who thinks trading within Hearthstone is a good idea has lost his/her brain. You're also probably f2p players (or just too poor to invest much into the game, no shame but it is what it is). Nobody would ever pay for packs anymore. The dust system would be rendered nearly useless. It's bad for business, plain and simple. Diablo III Auction House says hello.

Trading will never happen and with good reason.
TL;DR: I want something free.
I was expecting this thread to be about SMOrc vs no SMOrc
One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

Setesh and Diamond are correct. Of course!

Just because no.
People still think it's easy to make trades available in hearthstone, but never think about the real consequences/abuses this would bring to the game.
