Boast your best predictions! Did you make a call from the beginning that nobody else agreed with that ended up being true? BRAG HERE!
Also, share your biggest mispredictions! Did you go against the grain only to make a bold prediction that flopped? ADMIT IT HERE!
I myself have a bunch of failures to admit...
BEST PREDICTIONS:
I would have to say my most against-the-grain prediction that ended up being right would be saying Cumulo-Maximus wouldn't see any play. This was rated Very Good at 59.7% with 33.1% people calling it a META-defining card. It seemed pretty clear to me that Shaman had much better toys to play with and boy did they ever; and they're still getting played after the nerf! Shaman just has so many other ways to burst down the face, ways that don't have a drawback like Cumulo-Maximus. They can use Lifedrinker, Kobold Lackey, Weaponized Wasp, and then circle it all back around with Shudderwock. That isn't to say that Cumulo-Maximus isn't a good card, but the archetype he inspires (Overload Shaman) isn't as good as Quest/Galakrond Shaman and trying to fit him into that deck would be overkill.
I'm also really proud of mentioning that Devoted Maniac would be in every Galakrond deck. There were a lot of negative votes towards this one. However, my guess was Galakrond was going to need to have more consistent Invokes and would therefore run Devoted Maniac. Not only that, but I saw Devoted Maniac as a big Costco bundle of value. For four mana, you get a 2/2 that would often ping off an opponent's minion and still sometimes end up with a 2/1, a bonus effect (a Lackey, a 2/1 Elemental with Rush, a Priest Minion, +3 Hero attack, or two 1/1 Demons), and the buffing of your Galakrond Hero. That's a decent amount of value packed into one. I'm pretty proud of this one.
TERRIBLE PREDICTIONS (I HAVE A LOT):
Fire Hawk and Squallhunter were two cards I rated five stars in my head. I thought Fire Hawk was an excessively aggressive card heading into an aggressive META. I honestly, thought this could be a 5/3 for 3-mana just about every time you play it WITH an Elemental tag. Not only is that really powerful, but I thought it would be awesome for Elemental Allies as well. As it turns out, aggressive decks have much better options and Mage doesn't really rely on Elementals at the moment. Even if the latter were true, I found that Fire Hawk won't often get the stellar stats you wanted it to get. Even more so, when I DID get the amazing 5/3 or 7/3 I wanted, it was either pinged off immediately or happened way too late in the game. As for Squallhunter, I thought this was going to be the next Flamewreathed Faceless, ranking it as the fourth best card in the ENTIRE expansion. Welp, I went against my own philosophy: Shaman has better things to play with than the Dragon package they were offered.
When I saw Druid's Treant package, I thought it was pretty "meh". I ranked it as a mid-tier deck at best. However, they're actually quite better than just mid-tier. But that's not my failed prediction as I wasn't TOO off. It's me thinking Goru the Mightree was dirt poor. Quite a number of people rated Goru the Mightree as a very good card, which I thought was nuts. Why in God's name would you run this clunky card in an aggressive deck?! Well, not only are the stats good enough to protect your tokens, but +1/+1 on Treants is not a minor benefit! It's huge! I was shocked to see how Druids were able to continuously flood the board with more and more Treants and do this VERY consistently.
There were mixed emotions about Toxic Reinforcements, so this one isn't as bad as the others. However, I was on the side of this being horrendous and way too slow. Summoning three 1/1's in three turns for one mana? Psssh, what garbage, right?! Welp, it turns out that it's a massive staple in the new Face Hunter. If I had just done some simple math, I would have figured that using the full potential of one usage of Toxic Reinforcements would equal a total of TWELVE DAMAGE (six from the Hero Power and six from the Leper Gnome Deathrattle). Sometimes, it could be even more damage if those Leper Gnomes went face! As a Priest player, I started running two copies of Mass Dispel just to tech this.
What do you guys think? I'd like to hear your predictions!
I wouldn't rule Cumulo-Maximos out yet. If the meta slows down it can be a very good card to burst your opponent down. However, the meta is just too fast for a conditional burst setup in quest shaman.
I never understood why people thought toxic reinforcement would be bad. It seemed like a no brainer to me.
On the other hand I thought control Galakrond priest would be very strong. Yeah.... no.
I just wanna take a moment to have props to EVERYONE here on HPwn because I think overall the community was more spot on predicting this expansion than any time before. The last time people were this correct was at Rastakans Rumble when everyone agreed the whole set was too weak and would see little play vs Witchwoods set.
Stuff I was right about (and I am going to BRAG HARD sense you asked):
- I said Envoy of Lazul was going to be trash because you wouldn't be able to predict which card the enemy actually had. Most people were saying I was wrong, comparing the card to Curious Glimmerroot and Lazul herself. I tried to explain the cards were nothing alike, but that fell on a lot of deaf ears. People said things like "if you can't predict which card it is based on what the enemy did in previous turns, then learn to play"... well turns out I was right and those people were stupid.
- When Platebreaker was announced people were all like "RIP warrior" and making a huge hype about it. I was very vocal, I said and I quote this "even if Warrior suddenly became the most dominate class, with the highest win rate EVER TO EXIST IN ANY META. This card would still see zero play (outside of discovering it during a match), calling it right now. Ya'll are talking about the impact it will have, but none of you will run it." and I was so right. Gee golly, who would have guessed that a card which is basically USELESS against 90% of your matchups wouldn't see play... literally haven't seen it once.
- When Dragonmaw Poacher was announced people went ape shit, some of which were saying that this card would single handily stop people from running dragon decks. I said the chances were slim and that probably very few decks would run this because it was bad against any deck not running dragons and that after it doing nothing in 3 out 4 games people wouldn't run it. A lot of folks disagreed saying it was too strong not to play and an instant win card. Not only has seen very little play, even in the games where it gets to proc vs a dragon, it barely influences the outcome of the game.
- I said Veranus wasn't going to see much play because putting the enemy minions to 1hp isn't very useful to a hunter, because you would rather kill the minion than leave it with 1hp. This card couldn't be good unless you had specific support cards in play like UTH or Explode Trap. On a note, this always happens with Hunter legendaries. It's been happening since the first expansion in GvG, Hunter is given this card that would be amazing in most other classes, but I always say "it's not going to work for Hunter though because they don't have the ctrl tools to support X legendary" and I am always right.
- Oh last thing, I clearly remember saying that Cumulo-Maximus wasn't going to be a very popular card, BUT I agreed that it was strong. I was spot on. It is strong, but nobody plays it.
3 major things I was wrong about
- I thought Druid dragon decks would be HELLA stronger and more popular than it ended up being. I thought it would be a T1 or top of T2 deck, nope. I put too much faith in Breath of Dreams. Indeed it's a good card, but not nearly strong enough to anchor the deck together.
- Almost every Warlock card ended up being a shit ton better than I expected. Crazed Netherwing[/card, [card]Valdris Felgorge, Rain of Fire and Nether Breath was the only thing I got right. Everything else exceeded expectations by 2 or 3 fold.
- When the nerfs were announced I blasted Team5 for being too gentle on Shaman. In particular I was upset that Shudderwok and Dragons Pack was untouched. I was wrong, the nerfs were actually near perfect. ALTHOUGH to this day I stand by the opinion that Faceless Corruptor is still too universally good and as a result too over-played. Not to mention, it's just an annoying ass card. Reminds me a lot of why I hated Bonemare before it was nerfed.

What are you on? Veranus is bonkers. There is so much support for this card, its one of the best legendaries this expansion.
Someone mentioned Envoy of Lazul - while I've since taken it out of my decks (replaced it with the 2/2 that provides a lackey on deathrattle; more consistency is good) it does allow for some skill testing at times. Not enough to be worth a vanilla 2/2 for 2 most of the time, to that much I agree - but I played a couple games the other day before removing it where I was able to deduce the card in hand due to plays (ie. eliminating one or both of the other options because they surely would have played those, or wouldn't have played something else if they had that as an option).
Edit: also, should 'best predictions' really include obvious stuff?
Necrium Apothecary was overhyped and would be overrun by almost anyone. Well, wrong in one part, correct in the other.
I myself wasn't as high on this as others, but I never really knocked it giving it an "Honorable Mention" on my list. I said this because I didn't think Mechanical Whelp would be enough to carry the deck. Clearly I took a blind eye to Anubisath Warbringer
Accepted -Faceless Corruptor was very good universally -Cumulus-Maximus was very bad to combine with the Quest because shaman had better ways of damaging either with lackeys or low mana minions -Priest would look less for the set of cards they gave him in this expansion (pre-nerf) but he gained popularity thanks to face hunter -Righteous Cause would not play much either because Paladin currently has an identity crisis -Sanctuary is very good but you don't play much paladin
Wrong -Toxic Reinforcements was very bad because doing HP every turn is very bad and you lose tempo (it only became good thanks to the popularity of face hunter and shaman's nerfs) -The Dragon tribe would see more game but it was shown that there are better archetypes -Goru the Mightree was very bad but the treant deck tokens have tools for the lategame -Dragonmaw Poacher would be autoinclude in all decks -Frizz Kindleroost would be very OP and it should cost 6 The last two cards also the whole community thought they were very strong that would overshadow the other archetypes but the dragons never finished taking off well

At the end of the day (prior to the expansion dropping), I thought she was about average which is what she is. However, when she FIRST was released, I also thought it was just an auto-include.
Not that mine were terribly difficult predictions but...
Best: - Galakrond Shaman was broken. - Necrium Apothecary is amazing. - Faceless Corruptor was busted. - Galakrond Warrior was the second best Galakrond deck. - Paladin was in a lot of trouble. - Sidequests were mostly bad (with the exception of the one below)
Worst: - Galakrond Warlock was much worse than the others. - Galakrond Priest was remotely playable. - Toxic Reinforcements was unplayable. - Frizz was a 4-star card.
Envoy should be a 3/2 or 2/3 due to being an epic class card, but it does reveal a decent amount of information. It lets you know which cards are in your opponents deck and hand regardless if you guess the card correctly or not.
Well everyone was obsessing over quest galakrond shaman I was over here saying the 2 were better off separated. In the end I was right, though I’m shocked quest shaman has fallen off but that’s probably because of face hunter. If the meta slows we’re gonna love taking 10 to the face on turn 7. I also called it when I said galakrond warlock was better than it was being rated. My flop prediction was Smorc dragon hunter. Face huntard just ended up being way too good by comparison

Envoy should be a 3/2 or 2/3 due to being an epic class card, but it does reveal a decent amount of information. It lets you know which cards are in your opponents deck and hand regardless if you guess the card correctly or not.
worst is hands down troggzor, i'm probably not the only one who thought that that card is incredible. barely ever worked lol
best i'm not sure. probably the ridiculous new corruptor. even nerfed it's still broken as all hell
Best: I knew Ancharrr was going to be toxic, and that Shaman would have to be nerfed.
Worst: I knew Necrium Apothecary would be decent, but I still feel like I severely underestimated it.
