With SO many threads crying for this nerf or complaining about that nerf and this card and that deck and on and on.... I figure let's have a real honest discussion that might be eye opening for some.
What do you like to lose to?
By that, I mean we are all going to lose a game of Hearthstone. It's inevitable. So what deck/class/archetype is "acceptable" to lose to without making you want to run to these forums and ask for a nerf to whatever kicked your ass?
Obviously the hot topic right now in Druid. I've seen many posts about people saying it's not fun to play against, especially when it's Druid after Druid, and this is understandable (to a point, anyway). I've also seen posts with people saying it's not fun to play against Priest. It's not fun to play against aggro when you die on turn 4. It's not fun to play against Pirate Warrior. It's not fun to play against Freeze Mage. And so on...
So what is it fun to play against? And, by default, to lose against? What makes you walk away from a game loss and go damn, that was a fun, good game. I may have lost, but I enjoyed that.
This post is partially for fun/curiosity, and partially to maybe make some of the people who complain about every single thing to stop and look and realize that hey, you're going to lose. How you handle that loss is up to you. Not every game you lose is due to bad RNG or a broken card or deck. Not every loss means some stupid nerf needs to happen.
For me, I've had some games against Warlocks running the Demon/DK deck, and it's been fun. I've lost most games, but they have generally been close and could have swung either way based on RNG. I also walk away from those battles thinking about what I might have done differently to possibly have won. I've had some fun battles against Hunter DK control decks. I've won most, lost a few, but all were fun. Matches against Priests are interesting as well. It's like solving a puzzle. :)
For the record, I dislike playing against the Infinite Fireball/Freeze Mage deck in wild. It’s basically a long waiting game while they freeze you over and over until they get their combo and win. The deck likely dies to fast aggro, but I don’t generally play fast aggro, so… it’s just boring to play against when you know exactly what they are doing, but can't do much to stop it. But that doesn’t mean I’m crying for a nerf to Fireball. 😊
Unique weird decks that turn the game on it's ear in the oddest ways, but are interactive. Your suggestion of demon warlock is a good one. Kazakus decks are cool too. There's also this control warrior that has N'zoth and Scrougelord, that is pretty dang cool. Those sorta games I don't mind losing.
Basically any control deck that isn't based around ramping minions, stealing your cards or bursting you down. Those game's are really fun and feel really skilled base
Anything cool. An awesome play, a big combo, or just a sick high-roll off something like Evolve or Discover.
I don't have a direct example I've lost to, but I watched a friend win in Arena with like, rolling a Cabalist's Tome off a Cabalist's Tome, getting a double Cairne Bloodhoof off Molten Reflection, and then replicating their Kazakus with I think either one of those bounce panderen cards or an enemy's Vanish. It was glorious. I would have felt privileged to lose to that. xD
The main alternative is just any deck or strategy, but where the game was nail-biting close, even if it's not close in things like life-total. Losing by giving board control by a hair and then just getting bashed from full is still a close game.
I like losing to people who say "Well Played". Sounds cheesy, I know. I just don't like when people feel the need to play 5 more cards when they have lethal.
No deck in particular is preferable. It's mostly the player. Excellent question!
long games with interesting turns and funny rng... the LoE Elise Starseeker control warrior mirror was always fun. also unique decks that are fun but also work because it is so unexpected
I like losing to unique decks, with good players behind them. I was added today by a guy that we had a nice long match (I was playing a home brewed dragon paladin, 60% Aggro 40% midrange), he told me how cool my deck was.
That's sort of how I feel. If I lose to a netdecked crap where I literally saw my opponent misplay, that's what upsets me. I lost to a quest mage today who went infinite with 14 CARDS LEFT IN HIS DECK. Ugh. However I lost to a murloc shaman and enjoyed every second of it!
I don't mind losing games when they're interactive. Don't even mind aggro that much to be honest as long as it's not innervate into flappy bird on turn 1. Just can't stand losing against decks where theres actually nothing you could have done to increase your odds of winning, because your opponent was fortunate enough to draw his raza and shadowreaper Andy by turn 8. Or gets all his Mage combo cards early. Or whatever else there is in that same vein.
Anything inventive outside of meta decks is always interesting to lose to. One of my friends made a Control Hunter with Toxic Arrow and Abomination he played about 10 games only won 3/10 times but when he won it was really interesting to watch.
Zoo decks(fast, but somewhat interactive), interesting decks(it's nice to see a new, custom-made deck, or at least a lower tier one) and interesting-kind-of-RNG-based decks, especially when I play one myself.
Well-rounded and balanced decks in tight games. Doesn't really matter what.
HS has become largely about making an insurmountable threat for your opponent, cheesing out big stuff early or insane tempo swings. Tools to deal with such things is very sparse. Tight games that are likely to go either way have become very, very rare... even in coin-flip matches it is mostly who gets card A first - and therefore I really appreciate the tight matches even more.
Any deck that's somewhat hard to play, pre-nerf Patron, pre-nerf Handlock, pre-nerf Worgen Warrior, pre-''nerf'' Echo Mage, Freeze Mage, and Giants Warrior (both pre-nerf and new version)
I'm also fine with losing to some of the fun/creative decks as long as their ''fun'' isn't just playing a shit-ton of RNG cards, but actually something cool. (like the Stonetusk Boar Combo Paladin or stuff like that)
A good player. A cool non-netmeta deck...normally i love the long ass control games as i find most turns a challenge/ requires decision making each turn to win. If i loose i feel like i tried my best and had some fun, so i am cool with it.
I hate loosing to Decks such As pirate warrior as there is no decision making on my opponents side as very little for me. normally just top decking damage and Taunts. i loose to 10 damage burst on turn6 and i just feel bad.

Anyone who played well. Also playing against fatigue warrior was especially satisfying... not that they exist anymore

Any non-top tier deck for me! The come and go and the fact that you know you aren´t against a power house makes it interesting.
Absurd decks like elemental warrior, quest paladin or dragon mage.
At least i always hope they pull something sick i can't counter, kinda the same as wishing to lose.
Question everything.

Disclocks and Burglerogues
RNG
I actually like to lose to priests because I can see how complex their games and decision-making is - in short, a beautiful game each time.

A cool meme deck. I can't be angry at people playing funny decks.
My dream of an elemental deck, has come true.
