Everyone here knows the common rules of and surrounding our beloved game Hearthstone. Details like that every player has his own hero with 30 health points each or that each minion has attack and health points are things I don't really need to tell you about.
As mentioned in the headline I want to talk about other another type of rules - unwritten ones. Everyone who played some matches on his own, watched some pros play on their streams or browsed the web knows them.
You can't find those rules in your typical guide on how to play the game, you have to discover those gems. Sometimes we love them, sometimes we just nod indifferently at them and sometimes we even curse them.
My hope with this thread is that we are able to gatheras many unwritten rules as we can in this thread. So I want you to share your unwritten rule with us!
The "rule" doesn't have to be objectively true, it sure is enough when it just seems to be true all the time the mentioned rule somehow applies in certain situations. Also I would like to count the rules. Also the rule doesn't have to be about playing the game only. It can also revolve around the whole periphery of HS!
I would appreciate it that you don't post the same rule twice, so please ensure before posting that your rule hasn't been mentioned yet!
So, let's make a (admittely mediocre ;) ) start:
1. Every time you play Flame Juggler when your opponent has a 1-health minion, the effect of this card changes to "Battlecry: Deal 1 damage to the enemy hero."
1.2 Every time your opponent plays Flame Juggler and you have a 1 health minion, the effect of this card changes to: "Battlecry: Deal 1 damage to the 1 health minion your opponent controls".
xD

@CypherBenkes
The animation is what bugs you, I believe, because it kicks in before the secret. It is working as intended. Longbow makes you immune to combat damage, to damage you could get from the character you're attacking. Attacking the hero directly doesn't belong into this category, as the hero has no attack and therefore can't deal any damage to you. So in this case, the weapon doesn't provide immunity.
Another way to explain it is that you could just think about what happens with a, let's say, 2-HP minion. It attacks and the secret triggers before it is able to attack and therefore deal damage, thus killing it. It is the same with the Longbow - Explosive Trap triggers before the attack. If it makes sense, you might ask? I don't know.
Yeah, I don't think it works like that. The two reasons I can think this is very simple.
1. Ever see Arcane Missiles hit an Immune Warlock and do no damage? 2. You are Immune while attacking. The Immunity should not be conditional. That literally makes zero sense.

I very much doubt that.
You can doubt all you want. I was very surprised as well.

I can confirm (though I didn't get a screenshot- not fast enough): I recently pulled a Gladiator's Longbow from Lock and Load (playing a gimmicky spell-hunter deck versus face hunter), and later attacked into an explosive trap. The animation appeared, and then disappeared when the secret activated (dealing 2 damage to me). Then the "bubble" reappeared after the explosion animation.
Today in my free brawl pack I got Barongeddon, then I had a cup of fresh green tea. As a result of that, I think Priest is OP because my keyboard is not a mechanical one. I hope Blizzard will address this issue.
I like how this thread has turned into a) Gladiator's Longbow-Trap interaction and b) a complete trollfest regarding the actual uses of many cards
With the Longbow, I believe Feynman is right: Longbow only protects as long as you're actually attacking and not in the attacking animation. When the secret detects you're about to attack face, it triggers, killing you before you can actually 'land' the attack and gain the immunity bonus.
Also, Entombing Nozdormu leaves the sandcloud animation behind during the rest of the game. Learnt this the hard way.
I'm just another one of those. You know, those who do things. Things that need to be done by those that do these things in order to do those things that don't do these things themselves. Has the word 'things' lost meaning to you already?
I know this thread was originally meant to joke around but for a serious example, I discovered that Hero Power > Kill a Deathlord > Summon an Inspire minion will trigger its Inspire, which is weird but probably not a bug.
Mage killed my Deathlord, who brought up a Kvaldir Raider, who then gets the +2/+2 buff. Logically he wouldn't have existed on the board yet until the Mage finished using the Hero Power, but I suppose someone can give me an explanation from the Advanced Rules.
If you have Ice Block in play and are at 8 health and froze your opponents 4 minions and play Doomsayer, your opponent plays Dr. Boom and both Boom Bots hit 4 to your face.
Also if you have 8 health and a full board and your opponent plays Ragnaros the Firelord he always hits your face.
This must be a bug. The hp activates and should end before killing the minion, then deathrattle triggers and then minion gets summoned. It shouldnt trigger the inspire mechanic.

Nah, it's not the hero power that does the activating. Instead of programming your hero power to activate Inspires, Inspire cards check to see if you've used a hero power. The Inspire triggered because the game had still recorded that a hero power had just been used, before the sequence of actions ended.

Flamestrike: Destroy all enemy minions. If you BM afterwards, your opponent concedes.
Knife Juggler: Whenever you play Muster for Battle or Unleash the Hounds, deal 3 damage to the enemy hero.
Sneed's Old Shredder: Deathrattle: Summon Kel'Thuzad.
Deathwing: Battlecry: Destroy and discard your board and hand, destroying your win condition. Then, your opponent top decks BGH.
Dr. Boom: Summon 2 1/1 Boom Bots. When they die, they deal 4 damage to your opponent.
Mistress of Pain: Trash. If you got it out of a Piloted Shredder and have an Auchenai Soulpriest, die.
Piloted Shredder: Deathrattle: Summon a Doomsayer unless you have an Auchenai Soulpriest. In that case, summon a Mistress of Pain.
BGH: Kill Dr. Boom.

Death to the Darkfisher! \(' ^' )/
I think to go pretty deep into the English of this, the traps says "attacks" and the bow says "attacking". So the queue is:
1. Declare attack (so this is the "attacks" part)
2. Check for "when _blank_ attacks" effects
3. Resolve those effects
4. Then actually attack - the bow only gives immunity during the actual "attacking" part.
Still dumb way to do it, but it makes a certain twisted sense.
Kill Dr. Boom with Big Game Hunter, your BGH gets destroyed by one of the boom bots. 100%
