In Arena, this can turn one of your bad or awkward cards into a solid 5/5. In constructed it will be less viable since the overall quality of cards is much better than a 4 5/5, but the beast tag and the 5 Attack synergy might push it into experimentation. Maybe also the start of deckbuffing cards?

Fits in nicely with shadow/thief priest.

Versatile card using both Warrior and Warlock mechanics. Flavourwise you have to be strong enough to survive the trial or face death.

Your third card is the best of the bunch. The first one is too complicated, and the second one is rather over powered, and I don't really see how it fits Druid. The only issue I have with Weapon of Choice is the name, I don't really get it. But I really like the versatility of the effect.

Yeah the name is indeed a bit iffy, I agree with you there. The idea was that you can choose to use the card (to be more specific the sword in its art) to either kill a minion... or by "enslaving" it into a demon (seeing as a demonic entity is the wielder). Weapon of Choice (Method of Choice?) refers in this context to choosing whichever of two methods you wish to use to win the battle. But what do you think of another name like "Test/Trial of Demon" (seeing as you have to be strong enough to become one)?

Beyond the Dark Portal. Flavor-wise, there's a justification for this card being mage and warlock. The Dark Portal was created by the coordonated effort of Medivh [Mage] on Azeroth's side and Gul'dan [Warlock] on Draenor's side. Gameplay-wise it combines the zoo side of Warlock and the casino side of Mage. "Beyond the Dark Portal" is also the name of the add-on of Warcraft 2..

     Bump
By definetion Beyond the Dark Portal is your best card, but like Zardoz said, it is weird that Elementals, Beasts and Pirates are streaming out amoung the other 1 drops from the Dark Portal. Furthermore the card is pretty weak. Most 1 drops has 1 health, so the card loses you the game if the opponent class has any viable Aoe.

I agree. The dark portal has high potential for flavor, and I like that the Mage /Warlock combination represents Medeive and Guldan, but the card is not there yet. Gice it a little more time and you'll have a solid entry

I actually feel like Beyond the Dark Portal is quite okay as is. As Cheese has mentioned, both Medivh and Gul'Dan open the portal which means 1 cost minions from both sides can come through, including random weenies. Besides, limiing this factor takes away the casino mage aspect which would be unfortunate. On balance, Wisps of the Old Gods isn't exactly the best comparison since it isn't played at all and when it is played it is almost only played for the buff rather than the wisps. Because of this choice given to you and the fact that most 1 drops are even then not exactly threathening, making it 7 mana wouldn't be too bad.

    I also have some cards:

Stormweaver I feel has a really interesting effect with a soft taunt as this one can snowball out of control pretty quickly, especially with the combo (next turn it already is a spell damage +2 and the turn after a +5!) which can be used to good effect both in Shaman and Rogue, with the latter also having the option to apply Stealth. The balance might be hard to hit as it is rather slow.

Embalming is a buff spell that works for both Aggro Druid and Buff Paladin as they both have multiple 1 cost spells where a card like this could really help with consistency. I'm only afraid this might be too much Paladin, not enough Druid. There's also a consideration in making the draw a standalone, 1 mana spell which just draws two 1-Cost spells.

Weapon is not actually a weapon since Warlocks don't run weapons. What it is tho is a rather flavourful card with the option of turning something into a buffed demon or outright killing it. That said, it doesn't have any foreseeable practical appliance and might be hard to slot into current decks, since both classes already have good removal and don't need buffs.

posted a message on What is the minimum statline that a vanilla 10 drop need to have to be interesting? or used.

As it stands, the real reason why vanilla minions aren't played is because they don't offer support to any archetypes. Chillwind Yeti is a perfectly good card, but it doesn't stack jades, doesn't stack C'thun, isn't a dragon, isn't a deathrattle, isn't a combo piece, etc. There is very little incentive to run a vanilla minion over anything else.

This. In old days or in limited card pools cards like Chillwind Yeti and Boulderfist Ogre saw play since they were just very solid and fair standalone cards that don't require anything else to be good. To be frank, cards like Water Elemental, Fire Elemental, Lay On Hands, Ancient of War, Cairne Bloodhoof and even Ysera also slot into this position and these powerhouses have mostly fallen out of flavour by now. Constructed doesn't want fair or good cards anymore, constructed wants cards that pressure alot and cheat and do their job exceptionally well. One of the best ways to cheat without actually cheating is through a combo (as long as this combo doesn't instantly give lethal like old FoN + SR)... but vanilla cards don't incentivize combo's. Unless you can put Conceal on a 30/30, or a 26/26 followed by a Cold Blood or whatever. It's not only the risk vs reward balance or the tempo loss or no additional pressure that makes putting 10 cost minions into your deck troublesome.
Now, the fact that many people mention removals and vulnerability makes me want to shine a light on another topic: overstatted minions as tech. Considering that alot of popular removals are in the Kabal classes, Shaman and Warrior, could it be possible that a 10 mana 15/15 or 8 mana 12/12 could (have been) used as tech (either as bait or downright win condition) against Druids, Rogues or Paladins?

Imagine randomly getting this minion from something like Firelands Portal and then getting pinged to death by your opponent. Fun times.

I don't know about you guys, but this looks like a great fit in my Blood of The Ancient One deck. Imagine not having enough mana to play one of those big boys, well now you simply play this card, then you Living Roots + Moonfire it and presto, 8 mana for a brand new shiny Blood of The Ancient One that used to be in your hand. Good stuff.
