I personaly think this card is fine for now. For you that say this card must be nerfed, what kind of nerf is okay for this card? I look at some comment that say increasing the cost is the way. Some say if this card cost 6, it will not be used in aggro and I agree.
The problem is that Giggling Inventor can be a great defensive tool for non-agro deck. But if it cost 6, will any deck play this card? Will any control or combo deck still play this card? Bonemare is an example of this. Many deck run this card but after 1 cost increase, the argument that Bonemare would still be a useful at 8 mana is gone. No midrange, tempo or control run this card.
if you think 1 cost increase is okay as nerf, I think you're not seeing a bigger impact. The nerf will nuke this card like it nuke Bonemare until no ones plays it. The nerf this card needs is a slight nerf. IMO making 0/1 Giggling Inventor with the same text is okay as a nerf but not 1 cost increase.
Since blizzard nerfs like 3 cards per balance patch, definitely no.
Nerf UI, plague and druid armor gain/removal and then we can talk. Its even behind stuff like guldan, cube (really limits design+is super opressive in quite a few decks) etc
Also it isn't that great vs druids, deathrattle hunters and control warlocks because it sets up their plague, mossy horror and defile. And those 3 classes are one of 3 most played.
it doesn't need a nerf, there's more than one tech counter against it, also the tech counters against giggling aren't like eater of secrets where it only helps against one particular deck and sucks if you don't face that deck , Blood Knight has vanilla stats and helps against rogues, and paladins regardless if they're running giggling or not, and Mossy Horror is very durable despite having low attack which means it can help clear stuff after its battlecry which destryoys Spreading Plague scarabs, annihilates paladin boards and helps your game plan if you're running an egg deck
I'm agreeing with the opinion that giggling doesn't need a nerf, people's brains need a buff.
Having 2 taunts + 2 divine shields + 3 minions for 5 mana is indeed very good. I don't think it needs a nerf but if there is going to be one, I would suggest taking off the divine shields. That way you still get the taunts and 3 minions with the same stats for the same amount of mana. However, then you are going to favor aggro again and I hate aggro really.
So if you ask me, leave it as it is. No matter if it's auto include or not.

If you take away the divine shields, you get three 1 mana minions (two Goldshire Footman and one Murloc Raider ) for the price of 5 mana. Not a particularly good deal. That change would kill the card for both aggro and control.
I think the card is fine for now. The card doesn't win the game for you and Blood Knight and Mossy Horror should keep it in check. They didn't nerf Sludge Belcher either.

Except for the fact that you'll get those three minions for just 1 card i/o 3 cards, which gives you more opportunities with your hand.

Odd Paladin never uses Call to Arms which strongly indicates that three 1 mana minions are not worth 5 mana. And Paladin has a top tier 1 mana minion with Righteous Protector and another good one with Glow-Tron . The impact on turn 5 is too low.
Without Annoy-o-Tron , (edit for clarification) since Giggling Inventor cannot be used to build up pressure on turn 5 (low attack value), it can also not ensure tokens for buffing them later with Fungalmancer or magnetic mechs. And it cannot properly protect you or your minions any more since killing a Goldshire Footman never was an issue in hearthstone.
I am pretty sure that removing divine shield from the taunts will make the card worse than upping the mana cost to 6.
Well, no shit. Thıs IS sıngle "ladder-viable" card played from expansıon. You pay 50$ literally for a 5 mana rare card (which you WILL NOT GET btw, unless you buy some extrapacks, I got mine in 105th pack and thats only ONE copy, what the actual fock Blizz???), not counting another streak of OP druidstone cards (but well - we not even counting these, right?) and some decent zoo-lock treats. Whatever. Oh - and on top of that a possibility to buy WORST DESIGNED HERO SKIN OF ALL TIMES. Wow. Well - at least the adventure part should be decent enough, right?
Aside from trolling and jokes - I really like this card. It IS ultimate way to annoy your opponent, and its fine as is - it dies easily to some counter plays, including defile, and blood knight will see some play finally.

Same here. Opened around 70 packs no giggling still, missing like 4 rares only from this expansion. Wish I could get more of those to dust them when they get nerfed to 6 mana into oblivion
It's funny how a bunch of people complain about this expansion having no impact, but on the flipside every one complains about the card that had the most and wants it nerfed. I think Giggling is fine and I hope it doesn't get nerfed. It works for almost every class and archetype. That's fine imo. The fact that Blood Knight is a good tech choice for once makes me pretty happy too. Kind of surprising to see how slow the community is to start adding this card to their decks. Blood Knight won me so many games on my climb to legend.
I appreciate your insight! But, I have to disagree. We're in a META where it's really nice to have. I will agree that it's one of the most powerful cards in the set, but I don't think a nerf is needed. At least not yet!
Cards like Fire Fly and Kobold Librarian also have high play rates. They're excellent cards, but no need for a nerf.
That being said, it IS disheartening when you have a good board and your opponent drops this card. It's VERY annoying!
I think talking about counters is missing the point. The point is that a neutral card present in too many decks is just boring and bad for the game, i.e. Drake and Bonemare. It just boring to see the same cards over and over. They didn’t have that philosophy back then and It really sucked seeing Shredder, Sludge and Dr 7 in almost all decks.
It’ll be interesting to see if GI tanks in a meta where everyone runs its counters, and then equilibrium is reached where the decks with the least synergy with GI and the counters don’t bother with them, and the others keep each other in check.
Once we get there, Blizz will decide if it needs nerfed — it may well.
Shudderwock means driving a clown car in circles around your opponent while he swings his sword at you. Half the time he chops you and your car to pieces. The other half you park on his legs and 40 clowns come out one by one, trampling him to death.
Sure, Giggling Inventor is a powerful card, and it seems to fit into just about every deck, but Blizzard outdid themselves by giving us the perfect tech card (Mossy Horror) one expansion early, and it's fairly vulnerable to control tools in Warlock and Warrior (e.g. Defile is nearly a full clear of Giggling Inventor for only 2 mana, and Warpath can come down on 6 as a full clear for him as well).
It's definitely unfortunate that Giggling Inventor is showing up everywhere because of how stale the game can feel under those circumstances. However, there are enough answers to him that I see no reason to rush to a nerf. As the metagame settles, if he continues to show up everywhere, we're bound to see some kind of "Giggling Inventor Hate" decks that can deal with him.
I don't really think it is warranted. You can already tech against it with Mossy Horror with any class (potentially curving it out the next turn if your opponent also got that perfect curve. Blood Knight tech also gives you a great tempo play against giggler too. It is also fairly weak warlock's defile.
A card being in a lot of decks doesn't mean it is too powerful, it just means that card is filling a needed spot that was either lacking prior to the card being introduced, or may have been underdeveloped in other cards.

It is the most played card in the game atm, but Saronite Chain Gang and Fungalmancer are close behind, and win more games.

Just change the inventor from a 2/1 to a 1/1 should be enough of a nerf.

The goal of all life is death.
Look. Your opponents play Giggling Inventor at 5 mana, so just play Mossy Horror at 6

wow, just looked it up, it's in a third of all decks, every 60th card played in hearthstone is a giggling :) it is in my odd rogue too
