I expect Even Pally to become a tier 3 deck (if we're lucky, maybe even tier 2) because although Call to Arms was probably the best card in the entire decklist, there's probably some replacement that can help it come back. Maybe even in a future expansion. But for now, even Murloc Paladin got hurt by the nerf, since quite a few lists used Call to Arms as a board control tool. It may be played as a one-off in the deck, just to counter board clears. I just feel cheated, because the only good Genn Greymane deck got nerfed. And now everyone with Baku the Mooneater is just sitting there laughing at us.
Nerf OP card is fine. But they should also refund the dust of those cards impacted in the affected decks too. Tarim, Grey, ...etc. Those change probably make the entire deck unplayable. People invested dust to play even pally deck, its the ENTIRE deck being affected, NOT just the card being nerfed.
People keep thinking in deck archetypes that exist pre-nerf. Yes, this nerf kills even paladin, and just harms murloc paladin.
What we need to realize is that CTA will be experimented in a new midrange/aggro paladin with no even/odd restrictions, and this might be the new tier 1 paladin deck.
Not at all. Think logically. Odd Pally will only have 1 cost minions in the deck as opposed to 2 cost minions. Putting three 1 cost minions is actually pretty bad for 5 mana.
Basically they killed even Pally and this card in one fail swoop. This is the only way Even Pally had to draw it's deck. Call to Arms is not good enough in Odd Pally to summon 1/1's. This is a bad tempo card. Odd Pally has Divine Favor and only plays one of them in most cases Call to Arms is not good enough to play outside any Pally deck in this meta that isn't Odd Pally.
Maybe Even Paladin can finally shine as a control deck? The raw value of CTA was restricting what Paladin did because why control the board when CTA is just better?
Problem is Control Pala sux atm, even if you run full version with all cards. Even Control doesnt have Stonehill and Elise which 2 huge value generator for the deck
To the people complaining about Genn Greymane being useless now: since when is it a Paladin-exclusive legendary? You do realize e.g. Even Warlock or Shaman are actually playable? Just not top tier material, if that's what the whining is about.
In regards to the nerf: it's still up to 6 mana of value, just not for the ridiculous cost of 4 anymore. Vanilla Mid-Range or Control, even Murloc Paladin can make good use of it. So, don't pretend that the entire class is unplayable now.
Its the first time ever i think they should nerf even harder. 6 Mana imo so not to give odd paladin another Card. Speaking of Odd paladin i notice that he doesnt get any nerf so maybe even pala is now on a right powerlevel missing this card but odd paladin also is a problem wir 65% winrates. We need a nerf to that too.
Great...now Odd Pally, a deck I cannot stand, becomes stronger.
Jesus fucking christ, are people really this dumb?
Tell me, would you pay 5 mana to play 3 one drops? I don't think you would.
I would say the same to you. Would you pay 5 mana to draw three cards? And then 0 mana to play those three cards? I think you would.
Think before you post. There's more to CtA than the mana cost of the cards involved...
Hmmm . . .
Call to Arms is a tutoring effect - you don't draw three cards off the top, you draw three specific cards from the deck. Drawing three 1-mana minions was costed at 3-mana on Small-Time Recruits - the card never really saw competitive play, suggesting that the tutoring effect is competitively costed at 2-mana. It's also important to remember that Call to Arms doesn't actually play any minions - it summons them, and the minions lose their Battlecry effects. That's a big deal for 1-mana minions - the best 1-drops have 1ish mana Battlecries attached to a 2/1 body. A 2-mana version of STR would see plenty of play in aggressive Paladin lists - for 5-mana, you draw the three weakest minions from your deck, and play them. The nerfed version of CTA seems quite weak in comparison - for 5-mana, you draw the three weakest minions from your deck, but lose their Battlecries when you "play" them.
It will require testing - current iterations of the deck run a handful of 1-drops that turn into vanilla 2/1s with CTA, which presumably isn't worth running the card. At 5-mana, the nerfed card will also be competing with a couple of cards which simply seem much better - Fungalmancer and Level Up!. We'll know in a couple of weeks, I suppose . . .
I didn't expect them to alter the setup of Even Paladin so much. I'd have bet on (6) mana or 2x minions.
However, the nerf is perfectly balanced in itself, and might give Paladins more room to experiment and differentiate.
Murloc Paladin is bound to stay strong, Odd Paladin will breathe a bit (with weaker counters), and Even Paladin will possibly turn into a slower version of its past self, but arguably playable, since Cube/Controlock and Spiteful will also be slower.
"Odd-Paladin is getting stronger" Since when is getting 3 1-Drops for 5 mana any good?
Odd paladin does not need to play CtA, it is enough that even paladin/murloc paladin/cubelock/spiteful decks got nerfed to predict that paladin is getting stronger.
It's so interesting how a small adjustment like that basically kills a top-tier deck.
NO more CtA means 2-drops become less useful, meaning you'd need to run less, meaning you won't be guaranteed to have a turn 2 play, meaning the Even build will further hurt your tempo.
I do wonder if there is a possibility for a slower, control-esque Even Pally to exist. Probably not a meta deck anymore.
I just hope it's still good enough for Control Paladin to use as pseudo-draw.

Developers' inability to balance is one thing; players choosing to abuse it is another.

What a stupid nerf... So they just killed Even paladin in favour of much more retarded Odd version. Gj Blizzard, your nerfs are shiet, as usual.
Whoa, there's still plenty of meat on that card.
Throw in 2 Dire Mole, 2 Emerald Hive Queen , 2 Gravelsnout Knight, 2 Righteous Protector,
Baby you got an odd stew goin'!
As most people stated murloc pala will be the new t1 pala deck. The card is not going to be played in odd/even decks.
I will crush you!

Time for The Glass Knight to shine.
Buffs my spiteful paladin deck! thx blizzard
