I would like to see the Base set change every year similar to Magic the Gathering, but only if they featured unique card art and didn't do exact reprints. The card can do exactly the same things but it would have new art whenever it was featured in the Base Set.
It would allow the meta to feel refreshed every year and it would bring in more revenue for Blizzard.
I think this is something Blizzard should have planned to do from the beginning. I would love to see a lot of the tech cards (Like Loatheb) and the unique deck defining cards (Like Reno) be playable in the standard format. Creating deck's with those cards in mind is just more fun.
While I don't believe Reno Jackson should be moved into the Classic set, I do believe they should have a Core set of cards instead of a Classic set, opening the door for it to one day pop back into and out of Standard over the years to come.
No. I'm more of a control player, and even I don't think it should for 2 reasons.
1) it cramps design space for singleton decks. Cramping design space was half of the reason for creating standard in the first place.
2) I think the card is somewhat poorly designed, even though I like the concept of giving a dramatic effect for the drawback of a highlander deck. It just feels so bad as the player playing against it to have the card drop right before they have lethal and lose compleyely to one card locking you out of a game singlehandedly. likewise as the player with it, knowing that the only way you win a game is drawing Reno Jackson feels bad when you don't draw it. I think a card like Kazakus is more well designed because it doesn't just instantly win or lose the game by playing it/not drawing it. It also adds a layer of decision making.
tl;dr Reno, while an interesting card, is not a healthy card because of its borderline broken power level and should rotate out to create design space.
This. I love the concept that you give up deck consistency for good effects but Reno is way too extreme. "Head - win the game" type of cards are bad.
Yes, he is the ultimate neutral healing, enable a control deck for all classes (good or not), and it's an unique archtype that will always will be changing with the standard system. Unfortunately, I don't think it will happen, and the new cards will die in April, i don't think that a the "one of" decks will be playable without him.
The Reno Jackson condition (get X effect if you have no duplicates in your deck) is interesting and should inspire the creation of new cards every now and then, but I don't like the idea of having such a deck-defining card become evergreen.
No : no matter how cool Reno Jackson is, he is severely restricting design space . As long as he is around, many healing cards can't be printed : they would be too busted in some classes.
Also, what's the point of a rotating system if you keep the most powerful cards ?
We just got Mistress of Mixtures, an excellent neutral healing card that can find a spot in any control deck, not sure what your reasoning for that claim is.
It is worth moving powerful cards to the Classic Set if:
1) They only improve decks that require very high skill level to be played properly.
2) Greatly improve deck recipe variety.
Cards like Demonwrath, Shadow Bolt, Forbidden Flame and Flame Lance would not see play in constructed if it wasnt for Reno, a card that encourages the inclusion of suboptimal choices in competitive deck lists. Reno needs to stay.
As long as there are new healing tools, I'm fine with Reno rotating. That said, I loved that making highlander decks is a feasible thing, competitively-wise (ranked is competitive), and I was sad to see it go in standard, but with Kazakus and more highlander card I can still get my hopes up. Also, I hope some more healing tools are provided soon, as Refreshment Vendor is also rotating, leaving us with the crappy Cult Apothecary. Reno made up for Healbot for a lot of times, but he was hardly a replacement, I do miss playing a consistent 2 copies of each card warlock control deck.
Yes and no. I think Reno should leave standard for at least a year, but maybe come back afterwards. There are a lot of other cards that should happen with, too.
No. Develop new cards to fit the archetype, like Blizzard is doing.
People seem to think that no Reno will mean that archetype will go away. But with two expansions (one of which includes multiple cards for the archetype) before Reno goes away from standard there is tons of space to add new cards keeping the archetype without Reno.
Personally I think the solution to these iconic cards rotating out is to make a better rotation system. Perhaps it could be a third format competing with Standard and Wild, but I think it would be a more interesting than the current two.
I would love to see a format where each month two past expansions are set to active while all the others are set to inactive. Who would like to build some decks for Naxxramas + WotOG? Or League with some future expansion two years down the road.
Further this would not interfere with cards being reprinted in new formats eg. Dark Cultist and Kabal Talonpriest in same decks in this format could make Priest High health decks viable for that month. Or if Reno Jackson is ever reprinted and this format selects those two expansions then Reno Decks get a boost and you can expect two Reno's over the course of the game.

Yes, and Loatheb should be moved there with him.

I feel since you pay a lot more Mula per card, adventure sets should not rotate out as fast.

You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.
No, but I don't honk they should move anything to the classic set. Either way, wild will have more players post Reno rotation!
We have Wild for a reason, and it should only get more popular as more sets are 'retired' and people don't want to abandon their collection.

My magic will tear you apart!
I would like Reno, Elise and Brann converted to Classic cards. Those three are not OP but great cards.

Should everyone shut the hell up and go play Wild if they like Reno so damn much?
>Yes.
>Totally.
My custom cards thread here (53 cards)
They should add finley to classic
Its not really Overpowered in anyway and it would be a great thing to see some of the discover decks come to life with this guy
